1 (Ein PsalmPsalm; von AsaphAsaph.) Ja, GottGott ist IsraelIsrael gut, denen, die reinen Herzens sind. 1 A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.123
2 Ich aber – wenig fehlte, so wären meine Füße abgewichen, um nichts wären ausgeglitten meine Schritte.2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 Denn ich beneidete die Übermütigen, als ich sah die Wohlfahrt der Gottlosen. 3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Denn keine Qualen haben sie bei ihrem TodTod, und1 wohlgenährt ist ihr Leib.4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.4
5 Nicht sind sie im Ungemach der Sterblichen, und mit den Menschen werden sie nicht geplagt.5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.56
6 Deshalb umgibt sie der Hochmut wie ein HalsgeschmeideHalsgeschmeide, Gewalttat umhüllt sie wie ein GewandGewand.6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Es tritt aus dem FettFett hervor ihr Auge; sie fließen über in den Einbildungen des Herzens. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.7
8 Sie höhnen und reden in Bosheit von Bedrückung; von oben herab reden sie.8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
9 Sie setzen in den HimmelHimmel ihren Mund, und ihre Zunge wandelt auf der ErdeErde. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Deshalb wendet sich hierher sein Volk, und Wasser in Fülle wird von ihnen geschlürft2.10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 Und sie sprechen: Wie wüsste es Gott3, und wie sollte WissenWissen sein bei dem Höchsten? 11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Siehe, diese sind Gottlose, und, immer sorglos4, erwerben sie sich Vermögen.12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Ich habe mein HerzHerz bestimmt vergebens gereinigt, und meine Hände in Unschuld gewaschen, 13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 da ich ja geplagt wurde den ganzen TagTag und alle MorgenMorgen meine ZüchtigungZüchtigung da war.14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.8
15 Wenn ich gesagt hätte: Ich will ebenso reden, siehe, so wäre ich treulos gewesen dem GeschlechtGeschlecht deiner Söhne.15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 Da dachte ich nach, um dieses zu begreifen: Eine mühevolle Arbeit war es in meinen AugenAugen; 16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;9
17 bis ich hineinging in die HeiligtümerHeiligtümer Gottes5 und jener Ende erkannte. 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
18 Ja, auf schlüpfrige Örter setzt du sie, stürzt sie hin zu Trümmern. 18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 Wie sind sie so plötzlich verwüstet, haben ein Ende genommen, sind umgekommen durch Schrecknisse!19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 Wie einen TraumTraum nach dem Erwachen wirst du, HerrHerr, beim Aufwachen ihr BildBild verachten.20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Als mein HerzHerz sich erbitterte und es mich in meinen NierenNieren stach,21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 da war ich dumm und wusste nichts; ein Tier6 war ich bei dir.22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.1011
23 Doch ich bin stets bei dir: Du hast mich erfasst bei meiner rechten Hand;23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 durch deinen RatRat wirst du mich leiten, und nach der HerrlichkeitHerrlichkeit7 wirst du mich aufnehmen.24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Wen habe ich im HimmelHimmel? Und neben dir habe ich an nichts Lust auf der ErdeErde.25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 Vergeht mein FleischFleisch und mein HerzHerz – meines Herzens FelsFels und mein Teil ist GottGott auf ewig.26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.12
27 Denn siehe, es werden umkommen, die dir ferne sind; du vertilgst alle, die buhlerisch von dir abweichen. 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 Ich aber, GottGott zu nahen ist mir gut; ich habe meine ZuversichtZuversicht auf den HerrnHerrn, HERRNHERRN, gesetzt, um zu erzählen alle deine Taten.28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
