4 Ich danke meinem GottGott allezeit eurethalben für die1 GnadeGnade GottesGottes, die euch gegeben ist in ChristusChristus JesusJesus,4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5 dass ihr in ihm in allem reich gemacht worden seid, in allem WortWort und aller ErkenntnisErkenntnis,5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6 wie das ZeugnisZeugnis des ChristusChristus unter2 euch befestigt3 worden ist,6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
7 so dass ihr in4 keiner Gnadengabe Mangel habt, indem ihr die OffenbarungOffenbarung unseres HerrnHerrn JesusJesus ChristusChristus erwartet, 7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:1
8 der euch auch befestigenbefestigen wird bis ans Ende, dass ihr untadelig seid an dem TagTag unseres HerrnHerrn JesusJesus ChristusChristus.8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 GottGott ist treu, durch den ihr berufen worden seid in die GemeinschaftGemeinschaft seines SohnesSohnes JesusJesus ChristusChristus, unseres HerrnHerrn.9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Ich ermahne5 euch aber, BrüderBrüder, durch den NamenNamen unseres HerrnHerrn JesusJesus ChristusChristus, dass ihr alle dasselbe redet und nicht SpaltungenSpaltungen unter euch seien, sondern dass ihr in demselben Sinn und in derselben Meinung völlig zusammengefügt6 seid. 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.2
11 Denn es ist mir von euch kund geworden, meine BrüderBrüder, durch die Hausgenossen der ChloeChloe, dass Streitigkeiten unter euch sind. 11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
12 Ich sage aber dieses, dass jeder von euch sagt: Ich bin des PaulusPaulus, ich aber des ApollosApollos, ich aber des KephasKephas, ich aber des ChristusChristus.12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
13 Ist der ChristusChristus zerteilt? Ist etwa PaulusPaulus für euch gekreuzigt, oder seid ihr auf den NamenNamen des PaulusPaulus getauft worden?13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
14 Ich danke GottGott, dass ich niemand von euch getauft habe, außer KrispusKrispus und GajusGajus,14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15 damit nicht jemand sage, dass ich auf meinen NamenNamen getauft habe. 15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16 Ich habe aber auch das HausHaus des StephanasStephanas getauft; sonst weiß ich nicht, ob ich jemand anders getauft habe.16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17 Denn ChristusChristus hat mich nicht ausgesandt zu taufen, sondern das EvangeliumEvangelium zu verkündigen; nicht in Redeweisheit, damit nicht das KreuzKreuz Christi zunichte gemacht werde. 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.3
18 Denn das WortWort vom KreuzKreuz ist denen, die verloren gehen, Torheit; uns aber, die wir errettet werden, ist es GottesGottes KraftKraft.18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 Denn es steht geschrieben: „Ich will die Weisheit der Weisen vernichten, und den Verstand der Verständigen will ich wegtun“.719 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Wo ist der WeiseWeise, wo der SchriftgelehrteSchriftgelehrte, wo der Schulstreiter dieses Zeitlaufs? Hat nicht GottGott die Weisheit der WeltWelt zur Torheit gemacht?20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 Denn weil ja in der Weisheit GottesGottes die WeltWelt durch die Weisheit GottGott nicht erkannte, so gefiel es GottGott wohl, durch die Torheit der Predigt die Glaubenden zu erretten;21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 weil ja sowohl Juden ZeichenZeichen fordern als auch GriechenGriechen Weisheit suchen;22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 wir aber predigen ChristusChristus als gekreuzigt, den Juden ein Ärgernis, und den NationenNationen eine Torheit; 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 den Berufenen selbst aber, sowohl Juden als GriechenGriechen, ChristusChristus, GottesGottes KraftKraft und GottesGottes Weisheit; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 denn das Törichte GottesGottes ist weiser als die Menschen, und das Schwache GottesGottes ist stärker als die Menschen.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 Denn seht eure BerufungBerufung, BrüderBrüder, dass es nicht viele WeiseWeise nach dem FleischFleisch, nicht viele Mächtige, nicht viele Edle sind;26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 sondern das Törichte der WeltWelt hat GottGott auserwählt, damit er die Weisen zuschanden mache; und das Schwache der WeltWelt hat GottGott auserwählt, damit er das Starke zuschanden mache;27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 und das Unedle der WeltWelt und das Verachtete hat GottGott auserwählt, [und] das, was nicht ist, damit er das, was ist, zunichte mache,28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 damit sich vor GottGott kein FleischFleisch rühme.29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 Aus ihm aber seid ihr in ChristusChristus JesusJesus, der uns geworden ist Weisheit von GottGott8 und GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit und Heiligkeit9 und ErlösungErlösung;30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 damit, wie geschrieben steht: „Wer sich rühmt, der rühme sich des HerrnHerrn10.“1131 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
