1 Dafür halte man uns: für DienerDiener Christi und Verwalter der Geheimnisse GottesGottes.1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 Übrigens sucht man hier an den Verwaltern, dass einer treu befunden werde. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
3 Mir aber ist es das Geringste, dass ich von euch oder von einem menschlichen Tag1 beurteilt werde; ich beurteile mich aber auch selbst nicht.3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.1
4 Denn ich bin mir selbst nichts bewusst, aber dadurch bin ich nicht gerechtfertigt. Der mich aber beurteilt, ist der HerrHerr.4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.2
5 So urteilt2 nicht etwas vor der ZeitZeit, bis der HerrHerr kommt, der auch das Verborgene der FinsternisFinsternis ans LichtLicht bringen und die Ratschläge der Herzen offenbaren wird; und dann wird jedem sein LobLob werden von GottGott. 5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
6 Dies aber, BrüderBrüder, habe ich auf mich und ApollosApollos gedeutet3 um euretwillen, damit ihr an uns lernt, nicht über das hinaus [zu denken], was geschrieben ist, damit ihr euch nicht aufbläht für den einen4, gegen den anderen. 6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
7 Denn wer unterscheidet dich? Was aber hast du, das du nicht empfangen hast? Wenn du es aber auch empfangen hast, was rühmst du dich, als hättest du es nicht empfangen?7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?3
8 Schon seid ihr gesättigt, schon seid ihr reich geworden; ihr habt ohne uns geherrscht, und ich wollte wohl, dass ihr herrschtet, damit auch wir mit euch herrschen möchten.8 Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
9 Denn ich denke, dass GottGott uns, die ApostelApostel, als die Letzten dargestellt hat, wie zum TodTod bestimmt; denn wir sind der WeltWelt ein Schauspiel geworden, sowohl Engeln als Menschen. 9 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.4
10 Wir sind Narren um Christi willen, ihr aber seid klug in ChristusChristus; wir schwach, ihr aber stark; ihr herrlich, wir aber verachtet. 10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
11 Bis auf die jetzige StundeStunde leiden wir sowohl Hunger als Durst und sind nackt und werden mit Fäusten geschlagen und haben keine bestimmte Wohnung 11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 und mühen uns ab, mit unseren eigenen Händen arbeitend. Geschmäht, segnen wir; verfolgt, dulden wir;12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13 gelästert, bitten wir; als Auskehricht der WeltWelt sind wir geworden, ein Auswurf aller bis jetzt. 13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 Nicht euch zu beschämen, schreibe ich dieses, sondern ich ermahne euch als meine geliebten KinderKinder.14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15 Denn wenn ihr 10000 ZuchtmeisterZuchtmeister in ChristusChristus hättet, so doch nicht viele VäterVäter; denn in ChristusChristus JesusJesus habe ich euch gezeugtgezeugt durch das EvangeliumEvangelium. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Ich bitte5 euch nun, seid meine Nachahmer!16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
17 Deshalb habe ich euch TimotheusTimotheus gesandt, der mein geliebtes und treues Kind ist in dem HerrnHerrn; der wird euch erinnern an meine Wege, die in ChristusChristus sind, wie ich überall in jeder VersammlungVersammlung lehre. 17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
18 Einige aber sind aufgeblasen, als ob ich nicht zu euch kommen würde. 18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
19 Ich werde aber bald zu euch kommen, wenn der HerrHerr will, und werde erkennen, nicht das WortWort der Aufgeblasenen, sondern die KraftKraft;19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
20 denn das ReichReich GottesGottes besteht nicht im WortWort, sondern in KraftKraft.20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21 Was wollt ihr? Soll ich mit der RuteRute zu euch kommen oder in Liebe und im GeistGeist der Sanftmut?21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?
