1 Denn ich will nicht, dass ihr unkundig seid, BrüderBrüder, dass unsere VäterVäter alle unter der WolkeWolke waren und alle durch das MeerMeer hindurchgegangen sind, 1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 und alle auf MoseMose getauft wurden in der WolkeWolke und in dem MeerMeer2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 und alle dieselbe geistliche Speise aßen,3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 und alle denselben geistlichen Trank tranken; denn sie tranken aus einem geistlichen Felsen, der sie begleitete. (Der FelsFels aber war der ChristusChristus.)4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.1
5 An den meisten derselben aber hatte GottGott kein Wohlgefallen, denn sie sind in der WüsteWüste hingestreckt worden. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Diese Dinge aber sind als VorbilderVorbilder für uns1 geschehen2, dass wir nicht nach bösen Dingen gelüstengelüsten, wie auch jene gelüstetengelüsteten. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.2
7 Werdet auch nicht Götzendiener, wie einige von ihnen, wie geschrieben steht: „Das Volk setzte sich nieder, zu essen und zu trinken, und sie standen auf, zu spielen“.3 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8 Auch lasst uns nicht HurereiHurerei treiben, wie einige von ihnen HurereiHurerei trieben, und es fielen an einem TagTag 23000.8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9 Lasst uns auch den ChristusChristus nicht versuchen, wie einige von ihnen ihn versuchten und von den Schlangen umgebracht wurden.9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10 Murrt auch nicht, wie einige von ihnen murrten und von dem Verderber umgebracht wurden. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
11 Alle diese Dinge aber widerfuhren jenen als VorbilderVorbilder und sind geschrieben worden zu unserer Ermahnung, auf die das Ende4 der ZeitalterZeitalter gekommen ist.11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.3
12 Daher, wer zu stehen meint, sehe zu, dass er nicht falle.12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 Keine VersuchungVersuchung hat euch ergriffen als nur eine menschliche; GottGott aber ist treu, der nicht zulassen wird, dass ihr über euer Vermögen versucht werdet, sondern mit der VersuchungVersuchung auch den Ausgang schaffen wird, so dass5 ihr sie ertragen könnt.13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.4
14 Darum, meine Geliebten, flieht den GötzendienstGötzendienst.14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 Ich rede als zu Verständigen6; beurteilt ihr, was ich sage.15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16 Der KelchKelch der SegnungSegnung, den wir segnen, ist er nicht die GemeinschaftGemeinschaft des BlutesBlutes des ChristusChristus? Das BrotBrot, das wir brechen, ist es nicht die GemeinschaftGemeinschaft des Leibes des ChristusChristus?16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 Denn ein BrotBrot, ein Leib sind wir, die Vielen, denn wir alle nehmen teil an7 dem einen BrotBrot.17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
18 Seht auf IsraelIsrael8 nach dem FleischFleisch. Sind nicht die, welche die SchlachtopferSchlachtopfer essen, in GemeinschaftGemeinschaft mit dem Altar9?18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
19 Was sage ich nun? Dass das einem Götzen Geopferte etwas sei? Oder dass ein Götzenbild etwas sei? 19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
20 Sondern dass das, was [die NationenNationen] opfern, sie den Dämonen opfern und nicht GottGott. Ich will aber nicht, dass ihr GemeinschaftGemeinschaft habt mit den10 Dämonen.20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
21 Ihr könnt nicht des HerrnHerrn KelchKelch trinken und der Dämonen KelchKelch; ihr könnt nicht des HerrnHerrn Tisches teilhaftig sein und des Dämonen-Tisches.21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
22 Oder reizen wir den HerrnHerrn zur EifersuchtEifersucht?11 Sind wir etwa stärker als er?22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23 Alles ist erlaubt, aber nicht alles ist nützlich; alles ist erlaubt, aber nicht alles erbaut.23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24 Niemand suche das Seine, sondern das des anderen.24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
25 Alles, was auf dem Fleischmarkt verkauft wird, esst, ohne zu untersuchen um des GewissensGewissens willen.25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 Denn „die ErdeErde ist des HerrnHerrn und ihre Fülle“.1226 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
27 Wenn aber jemand von den Ungläubigen euch einlädt, und ihr wollt hingehen, so esst alles, was euch vorgesetzt wird, ohne zu untersuchen um des GewissensGewissens willen.27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
28 Wenn aber jemand zu euch sagt: Dies ist als OpferOpfer dargebracht13 worden, so esst nicht, um jenes willen, der es anzeigt, und um des GewissensGewissens willen, 28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:
29 des GewissensGewissens aber, sage ich, nicht deines eigenen, sondern desjenigen des anderen; denn warum wird meine FreiheitFreiheit von einem anderen GewissenGewissen beurteilt?29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
30 Wenn ich mit Danksagung teilhabe, warum werde ich gelästert über das, wofür ich danksage? 30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?5
31 Ob ihr nun esst oder trinkt oder irgend etwas tut, tut alles zur Ehre GottesGottes. 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Seid ohne AnstoßAnstoß, sowohl Juden als GriechenGriechen, und der VersammlungVersammlung GottesGottes; 32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:6
33 wie auch ich mich in allen Dingen allen gefällig mache, indem ich nicht meinen Vorteil suche, sondern den der Vielen, damit sie errettet werden.33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
