1 Und dies sind die WorteWorte des BriefesBriefes, den der ProphetProphet JeremiaJeremia von JerusalemJerusalem an die übriggebliebenen Ältesten der Weggeführten und an die PriesterPriester und an die ProphetenPropheten und an das ganze Volk sandte, das NebukadnezarNebukadnezar von JerusalemJerusalem nach BabelBabel weggeführt hatte, 1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;
2 (nachdem der König JekonjaJekonja und die KöniginKönigin, und die KämmererKämmerer, die Fürsten von JudaJuda und JerusalemJerusalem und die WerkleuteWerkleute und die SchlosserSchlosser aus JerusalemJerusalem weggezogen waren) 2 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)1
3 durch EleasarEleasar, den SohnSohn SchaphansSchaphans, und GemarjaGemarja, den SohnSohn HilkijasHilkijas, die ZedekiaZedekia, der König von JudaJuda, nach BabelBabel zu NebukadnezarNebukadnezar, dem König von BabelBabel, sandte:3 By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,
4 So spricht der HERR der HeerscharenHeerscharen, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, zu allen Weggeführten, die ich von JerusalemJerusalem nach BabelBabel weggeführt habe:4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;
5 Baut Häuser und bewohnt sie, und pflanzt Gärten und esst ihre Frucht.5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
6 Nehmt Frauen und zeugt Söhne und Töchter, und nehmt Frauen für eure Söhne, und eure Töchter gebt Männern, damit sie Söhne und Töchter gebären; und vermehrt euch dort, und mindert euch nicht.6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
7 Und sucht den Frieden1 der Stadt, wohin ich euch weggeführt habe, und betetbetet für sie zu dem HERRN; denn in ihrem Frieden werdet ihr Frieden haben.7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
8 Denn so spricht der HERR der HeerscharenHeerscharen, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Lasst euch von euren ProphetenPropheten, die in eurer Mitte sind, und von euren WahrsagernWahrsagern nicht täuschen; und hört nicht auf eure TräumeTräume, die ihr euch träumen lasst.8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
9 Denn sie weissagen euch falsch in meinem NamenNamen; ich habe sie nicht gesandt, spricht der HERR.9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.2
10 Denn so spricht der HERR: Sobald 70 JahreJahre für BabelBabel voll sind2, werde ich mich euer annehmen und mein gutes WortWort an euch erfüllen, euch an diesen Ort zurückzubringen.10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11 Denn ich weiß ja die Gedanken, die ich über euch denke, spricht der HERR, Gedanken des Friedens und nicht zum Unglück, um euch Ausgang3 und HoffnungHoffnung zu gewähren.11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.3
12 Und ihr werdet mich anrufen und hingehen und zu mir betenbeten, und ich werde auf euch hören.12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 Und ihr werdet mich suchen und finden, denn ihr werdet nach mir fragen4 mit eurem ganzen Herzen5;13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 und ich werde mich von euch finden lassen, spricht der HERR. Und ich werde eure GefangenschaftGefangenschaft wenden und euch sammeln aus allen NationenNationen und aus allen Orten, wohin ich euch vertrieben habe, spricht der HERR; und ich werde euch an den Ort zurückbringen, von wo ich euch weggeführt habe.14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
15 Wenn ihr sagt: Der HERR hat uns in BabelBabel ProphetenPropheten erweckt,15 Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
16 ja, so spricht der HERR von dem König, der auf dem ThronThron DavidsDavids sitzt, und von dem ganzen Volk, das in dieser Stadt wohnt, euren BrüdernBrüdern, die nicht mit euch in die Gefangenschaft6 weggezogen sind –16 Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
17 so spricht der HERR der HeerscharenHeerscharen: Siehe, ich sende unter sie das SchwertSchwert, den Hunger und die PestPest, und will sie machen wie die abscheulichen Feigen, die vor Schlechtigkeit nicht gegessen werden können7.17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
18 Und ich will ihnen nachjagen mit dem SchwertSchwert, mit dem Hunger und mit der PestPest; und ich will sie zur Misshandlung hingeben allen Königreichen der ErdeErde, zum FluchFluch und zum Entsetzen und zum Gezisch und zum Hohn unter allen NationenNationen, wohin ich sie vertrieben habe:18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:4
19 Weil sie auf meine WorteWorte nicht gehört haben, spricht der HERR, womit ich meine KnechteKnechte, die ProphetenPropheten, zu ihnen sandte, früh mich aufmachend und sendend. Und auch ihr habt nicht gehört, spricht der HERR.19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.
20 Ihr nun, hört das WortWort des HERRN, ihr Weggeführten alle, die ich von JerusalemJerusalem nach BabelBabel weggeschickt habe!20 Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:
21 So spricht der HERR der HeerscharenHeerscharen, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, von AhabAhab, dem SohnSohn KolajasKolajas, und von ZedekiaZedekia, dem SohnSohn MaasejasMaasejas, die euch Lügen weissagen in meinem NamenNamen: Siehe, ich gebe sie in die Hand NebukadrezarsNebukadrezars, des Königs von BabelBabel, damit er sie vor euren AugenAugen erschlage.21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
22 Und von ihnen wird ein FluchFluch entnommen werden seitens aller Weggeführten JudasJudas, die in BabelBabel sind, so dass man sagen wird: Der HERR mache dich wie ZedekiaZedekia und wie AhabAhab, die der König von BabelBabel im FeuerFeuer braten ließ!22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
23 weil sie eine Gesetzlosigkeit8 begangen in IsraelIsrael und EhebruchEhebruch getrieben haben mit den Frauen ihrer Nächsten und in meinem NamenNamen Lügenworte geredet haben, was ich ihnen nicht geboten hatte; und ich, ich weiß es und bin Zeuge, spricht der HERR. 23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.
24 Und zu SchemajaSchemaja, dem NechelamiterNechelamiter, sollst du sprechen und sagen:24 Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,5
25 So spricht der HERR der HeerscharenHeerscharen, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, und sagt: Weil du in deinem NamenNamen BriefeBriefe gesandt hast an alles Volk, das in JerusalemJerusalem ist, und an den PriesterPriester ZephanjaZephanja, den SohnSohn MaasejasMaasejas, und an alle die PriesterPriester, und gesagt: 25 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
26 „Der HERR hat dich zum PriesterPriester gesetzt anstatt des PriestersPriesters JojadaJojada, damit AufseherAufseher seien im HausHaus des HERRN über jeden Rasenden und Weissagenden, damit du ihn in den StockStock und in das Halseisen legst.26 The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.
27 Und nun, warum hast du JeremiaJeremia, den AnatotiterAnatotiter, nicht gescholten, der euch weissagt?27 Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?
28 da er ja zu uns nach BabelBabel gesandt und gesagt hat9: Es wird lange dauern; baut Häuser und bewohnt sie, und pflanzt Gärten und esst ihre Frucht.“ ...28 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
29 (Und der PriesterPriester ZephanjaZephanja hatte diesen BriefBrief vor den Ohren des ProphetenPropheten JeremiaJeremia gelesen.)29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
30 Und das WortWort des HERRN erging an JeremiaJeremia, indem er sprach:30 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
31 Sende hin zu allen Weggeführten und sprich: So spricht der HERR von SchemajaSchemaja, dem NechelamiterNechelamiter: Weil SchemajaSchemaja euch geweissagt und ich ihn doch nicht gesandt habe, und er euch auf Lügen hat vertrauen lassen,31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:
32 darum spricht der HERR so: Siehe, ich will SchemajaSchemaja, den NechelamiterNechelamiter, und seine Nachkommen heimsuchen: Er soll niemand haben, der inmitten dieses Volkes wohne, und er soll das Gute nicht sehen, das ich meinem Volk tun werde, spricht der HERR; denn er hat AbfallAbfall geredet gegen den HERRN.32 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.6
