1 Und JakobJakob hob seine AugenAugen auf und sah: Und siehe, EsauEsau kam und mit ihm 400 MannMann. Und er verteilte die KinderKinder auf LeaLea und auf RahelRahel und auf die beiden Mägde; 1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2 und er stellte die Mägde und ihre KinderKinder nach vorne, und LeaLea und ihre KinderKinder dahinter, und RahelRahel und JosephJoseph zuletzt. 2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 Er aber ging vor ihnen her und beugte sich siebenmal zur ErdeErde nieder, bis er nahe zu seinem BruderBruder kam.3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 Und EsauEsau lief ihm entgegen und umarmte ihn und fiel ihm um den Hals und küsste ihn; und sie weinten.4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
5 Und er hob seine AugenAugen auf und sah die Frauen und die KinderKinder und sprach: Wer sind diese bei dir? Und er sprach: Die KinderKinder, die GottGott deinem KnechtKnecht beschert hat. 5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.1
6 Und die Mägde traten herzu, sie und ihre KinderKinder, und verneigten sich.6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 Und auch LeaLea trat herzu und ihre KinderKinder, und sie verneigten sich. Und danach traten JosephJoseph und RahelRahel herzu und verneigten sich.7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 Und er sprach: Was willst du mit diesem ganzen Zug, dem ich begegnet bin? Und er sprach: Dass ich GnadeGnade fände in den AugenAugen meines HerrnHerrn.8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.2
9 Da sprach EsauEsau: Ich habe genug, mein BruderBruder; es sei dein, was du hast.9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.3
10 Und JakobJakob sprach: Nicht doch; wenn ich denn GnadeGnade gefunden habe in deinen AugenAugen, so nimm mein Geschenk von meiner Hand, da ich nun einmal dein Angesicht gesehen habe1, als hätte ich GottesGottes Angesicht gesehen, und du Wohlgefallen an mir gehabt hast.10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Nimm doch mein Geschenk2, das dir überbracht worden ist; denn GottGott hat es mir beschert3, und ich habe alles. Und er drang in ihn, und er nahm es. 11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.4
12 Und Esau4 sprach: Lass uns aufbrechen und weiterziehen, und ich will vor5 dir herziehen.12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
13 Und er sprach zu ihm: Mein HerrHerr weiß, dass die KinderKinder zart sind und dass ich säugende Schafe6 und Kühe bei mir habe; wenn man sie nur einen TagTag übertriebe, so würde die ganze HerdeHerde sterben.13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14 Mein HerrHerr ziehe doch vor seinem KnechtKnecht hin, und ich will hinterherziehen nach meiner Gemächlichkeit, nach dem Gang des ViehsViehs, das vor mir ist, und nach dem Gang der KinderKinder, bis ich zu meinem HerrnHerrn komme nach SeirSeir.14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.5
15 Und EsauEsau sprach: Ich will doch von dem Volk bei dir zurücklassen, das bei mir ist. Und er sprach: Wozu das? Möchte ich GnadeGnade finden in den AugenAugen meines HerrnHerrn!15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.67
16 Und EsauEsau kehrte an demselben TagTag seines Weges zurück nach SeirSeir. 16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17 Und JakobJakob brach auf nach SukkotSukkot und baute sich ein HausHaus, und seinem ViehVieh machte er HüttenHütten; darum gab er dem Ort den NamenNamen SukkotSukkot7.17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.8
18 Und JakobJakob kam wohlbehalten nach der Stadt SichemSichem, die im Land KanaanKanaan ist, als er aus Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram kam, und lagerte vor der Stadt.18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.9
19 Und er kaufte das Stück Feld, wo er sein ZeltZelt aufgeschlagen hatte, von der Hand der Söhne HemorsHemors, des VatersVaters SichemsSichems, für 100 Kesita.19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.1011
20 Und er richtete dort einen AltarAltar auf und nannte ihn: GottGott8, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels.20 And he erected there an altar, and called it Elelohe-Israel.12
