1 Und die ganze ErdeErde hatte1 eine Sprache und einerlei WorteWorte. 1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.12
2 Und es geschah, als sie nach2 OstenOsten zogen, da fanden sie eine EbeneEbene im Land SinearSinear und wohnten dort.2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.3
3 Und sie sprachen einer zum anderen: Wohlan, lasst uns ZiegelZiegel streichen und hart brennen! Und der ZiegelZiegel diente ihnen als Stein, und das ErdharzErdharz diente ihnen als MörtelMörtel.3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.45
4 Und sie sprachen: Wohlan, bauen wir uns eine Stadt und einen TurmTurm, dessen Spitze an den HimmelHimmel reiche, und machen wir uns einen NamenNamen, dass wir nicht zerstreut werden über die ganze ErdeErde!34 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 Und der HERR fuhr herab, die Stadt und den TurmTurm zu sehen, die die Menschenkinder bauten.5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 Und der HERR sprach: Siehe, sie sind ein Volk und haben alle eine Sprache, und dies haben sie angefangen zu tun; und nun wird ihnen nichts verwehrt werden, was sie zu tun ersinnen.6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Wohlan, lasst uns herabfahren und ihre Sprache dort verwirren, dass sie einer des anderen Sprache nicht verstehen!7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8 Und der HERR zerstreute sie von dort über die ganze ErdeErde; und sie hörten auf, die Stadt zu bauen.8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Darum gab man ihr den NamenNamen Babel4; denn dort verwirrte der HERR die Sprache der ganzen ErdeErde, und von dort zerstreute sie der HERR über die ganze ErdeErde.9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.6
10 Dies sind die GeschlechterGeschlechter SemsSems: SemSem war 100 JahreJahre alt und zeugtezeugte ArpaksadArpaksad, zwei JahreJahre nach der FlutFlut.10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
11 Und SemSem lebte, nachdem er ArpaksadArpaksad gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 500 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.11 And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
12 Und ArpaksadArpaksad lebte 35 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte SchelachSchelach.12 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
13 Und ArpaksadArpaksad lebte, nachdem er SchelachSchelach gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 403 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.13 And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
14 Und SchelachSchelach lebte 30 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte HeberHeber.14 And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
15 Und SchelachSchelach lebte, nachdem er HeberHeber gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 403 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.15 And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
16 Und HeberHeber lebte 34 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte PelegPeleg.16 And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:7
17 Und HeberHeber lebte, nachdem er PelegPeleg gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 430 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.17 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
18 Und PelegPeleg lebte 30 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte ReghuReghu.18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19 Und PelegPeleg lebte, nachdem er ReghuReghu gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 209 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.19 And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
20 Und ReghuReghu lebte 32 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte SerugSerug.20 And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:8
21 Und ReghuReghu lebte, nachdem er SerugSerug gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 207 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.21 And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
22 Und SerugSerug lebte 30 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte NahorNahor.22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23 Und SerugSerug lebte, nachdem er NahorNahor gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 200 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.23 And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
24 Und NahorNahor lebte 29 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Tarah5.24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:9
25 Und NahorNahor lebte, nachdem er TarahTarah gezeugtgezeugt hatte, 119 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte Söhne und Töchter.25 And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
26 Und TarahTarah lebte 70 JahreJahre und zeugtezeugte AbramAbram, NahorNahor und HaranHaran.26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Und dies sind die GeschlechterGeschlechter TarahsTarahs: TarahTarah zeugtezeugte AbramAbram, NahorNahor und HaranHaran; und HaranHaran zeugtezeugte LotLot.27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28 Und HaranHaran starb vor dem Angesicht seines VatersVaters TarahTarah, in dem Land seiner GeburtGeburt, in UrUr in Chaldäa6.28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 Und AbramAbram und NahorNahor nahmen sich Frauen; der Name der FrauFrau AbramsAbrams war SaraiSarai, und der Name der FrauFrau NahorsNahors MilkaMilka, die TochterTochter HaransHarans, des VatersVaters der MilkaMilka und des VatersVaters der JiskaJiska.29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 Und SaraiSarai war unfruchtbar, sie hatte kein Kind.30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31 Und TarahTarah nahm seinen SohnSohn AbramAbram und LotLot, den SohnSohn HaransHarans, seines SohnesSohnes SohnSohn, und SaraiSarai, seine Schwiegertochter, die FrauFrau seines SohnesSohnes AbramAbram; und sie zogen miteinander7 aus UrUr in ChaldäaChaldäa, um in das Land KanaanKanaan zu gehen; und sie kamen bis Haran8 und wohnten dort.31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32 Und die TageTage TarahsTarahs waren 205 JahreJahre, und TarahTarah starb in HaranHaran.32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
