1 Und es geschah, als die Menschen begannen, sich auf der Fläche des Erdbodens zu vermehren und ihnen Töchter geboren wurden,1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 da sahen die Söhne GottesGottes, dass die Töchter der Menschen schön waren, und sie nahmen sich zu Frauen, die sie irgend erwählten.2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 Und der HERR sprach: Mein GeistGeist soll nicht ewiglich mit dem Menschen rechten, da er ja FleischFleisch ist; und seine TageTage seien 120 JahreJahre. 3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 In jenen Tagen waren die Riesen auf der ErdeErde, und auch nachher, als1 die Söhne GottesGottes zu den Töchtern der Menschen eingingen und diese ihnen gebaren. Das sind die Helden, die von alters her waren, die Männer von Ruhm gewesen sind. 4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 Und der HERR sah, dass des Menschen Bosheit groß war auf der ErdeErde, und alles GebildeGebilde der Gedanken seines Herzens nur böse den ganzen TagTag.5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.12
6 Und es reute den HERRN, dass er den Menschen gemacht hatte auf der ErdeErde, und es schmerzte ihn in sein HerzHerz hinein.6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 Und der HERR sprach: Ich will den Menschen, den ich geschaffen habe, von der Fläche des Erdbodens vertilgen, vom Menschen bis zum ViehVieh, bis zum Gewürm und bis den Vögeln des HimmelsHimmels; denn es reut mich, dass ich sie gemacht habe.7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.3
8 NoahNoah aber fand GnadeGnade in den AugenAugen des HERRN.8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
9 Dies ist die Geschichte NoahsNoahs: NoahNoah war ein gerechter, vollkommener2 MannMann unter seinen Zeitgenossen; NoahNoah wandelte mit GottGott.9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.4
10 Und NoahNoah zeugtezeugte drei Söhne: SemSem, HamHam und JaphetJaphet.10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 Und die ErdeErde war verdorben vor GottGott, und die ErdeErde war voll Gewalttat.11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 Und GottGott sah die ErdeErde, und siehe, sie war verdorben; denn alles FleischFleisch hatte seinen Weg verdorben auf der ErdeErde.12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 Und GottGott sprach zu NoahNoah: Das Ende alles FleischesFleisches ist vor mich gekommen; denn die ErdeErde ist voll Gewalttat durch sie; und siehe, ich will sie verderben mit der ErdeErde.13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.5
14 Mache dir eine Arche von GopherholzGopherholz; mit Kammern sollst du die Arche machen und sie von innen und von außen mit Harz verpichen3.14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.6
15 Und so sollst du sie machen: 300 Ellen sei die Länge der Arche, 50 Ellen ihre Breite, und 30 Ellen ihre HöheHöhe.15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
16 Eine Lichtöffnung4 sollst du der Arche machen, und bis zu einer ElleElle5 sollst du sie fertigen6 von oben her; und die TürTür der Arche sollst du in ihre Seite setzen; mit einem unteren, zweiten und dritten Stockwerk sollst du sie machen.16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
17 Denn ich, siehe, ich bringe die Wasserflut über die ErdeErde, um alles FleischFleisch unter dem HimmelHimmel zu verderben, in dem ein Hauch des LebensLebens ist; alles, was auf der ErdeErde ist, soll verscheiden.17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
18 Aber mit dir will ich meinen BundBund errichten, und du sollst in die Arche gehen, du und deine Söhne und deine FrauFrau und die Frauen deiner Söhne mit dir.18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
19 Und von allem Lebendigen, von allem FleischFleisch, zwei von jeglichem sollst du in die Arche bringen, um sie mit dir am LebenLeben zu erhalten; ein Männliches und ein Weibliches sollen sie sein. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20 Von den Vögeln nach ihrer Art und von dem ViehVieh nach seiner Art, von allem Gewürm des Erdbodens nach seiner Art: zwei von jeglichem sollen zu dir hineingehen, um sie am LebenLeben zu erhalten. 20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21 Und du, nimm dir von aller Speise, die gegessen wird, und sammle sie bei dir auf, dass sie dir und ihnen zur Nahrung sei.21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22 Und NoahNoah tat es; nach allem, was GottGott ihm geboten hatte, so tat er.22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
