1 Und SamuelSamuel starb; und ganz IsraelIsrael versammelte sich und klagte um ihn und begrub ihn in seinem HausHaus in RamaRama.Und DavidDavid machte sich auf und zog hinab in die WüsteWüste ParanParan.1 And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
2 Und es war ein MannMann in MaonMaon, der seine Geschäfte in KarmelKarmel1 hatte; und der MannMann war sehr vermögend und hatte 3000 SchafeSchafe und 1000 Ziegen; und er war während der SchurSchur seiner SchafeSchafe in KarmelKarmel. 2 And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.1
3 Und der Name des MannesMannes war NabalNabal, und der Name seiner FrauFrau AbigailAbigail. Und die FrauFrau war von guter EinsichtEinsicht und schön von GestaltGestalt; der MannMann aber war hart und boshaft in seinen Handlungen, und er war ein Kalebiter.3 Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.
4 Und DavidDavid hörte in der WüsteWüste, dass NabalNabal seine SchafeSchafe schor.4 And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep.
5 Da sandte DavidDavid zehn Knaben, und DavidDavid sprach zu den Knaben: Zieht nach KarmelKarmel hinauf, und geht zu NabalNabal und fragt ihn in meinem NamenNamen nach seinem Wohlergehen,5 And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:2
6 und sprecht so: Lebe lange!2 und FriedeFriede dir, und FriedeFriede deinem HausHaus, und FriedeFriede allem, was dein ist!6 And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.
7 Und jetzt habe ich gehört, dass du die Schafscherer hast; nun, deine Hirten sind bei uns gewesen, wir haben ihnen nichts zuleide getan, und nicht das Geringste ist von ihnen vermisst worden alle die TageTage, die sie in KarmelKarmel gewesen sind.7 And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.3
8 Frage deine Knaben, und sie werden es dir mitteilen. Mögen denn die Knaben GnadeGnade finden in deinen AugenAugen, denn an einem guten TagTag sind wir gekommen; gib doch deinen Knechten und deinem SohnSohn DavidDavid was deine Hand findet!8 Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
9 Und die Knaben DavidsDavids kamen hin und redeten zu NabalNabal nach allen diesen Worten im NamenNamen DavidsDavids; und sie hielten inne. 9 And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.4
10 Aber NabalNabal antwortete den Knechten DavidsDavids und sprach: Wer ist DavidDavid, und wer der SohnSohn IsaisIsais? Heutzutage sind der KnechteKnechte viele, die davonlaufen, jeder seinem HerrnHerrn. 10 And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.
11 Und ich sollte mein BrotBrot und mein Wasser nehmen und mein Geschlachtetes, das ich für meine Scherer geschlachtet habe, und es Männern geben, von denen ich nicht weiß, woher sie sind?11 Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?5
12 Und die Knaben DavidsDavids wandten sich auf ihren Weg; und sie kehrten zurück und kamen und berichteten ihm nach allen diesen Worten.12 So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.
13 Da sprach DavidDavid zu seinen Männern: Gürtet jeder sein SchwertSchwert um! Und sie gürteten jeder sein SchwertSchwert um, und auch DavidDavid gürtete sein SchwertSchwert um; und sie zogen hinauf, hinter DavidDavid her, etwa 400 MannMann, und 200 blieben bei dem Geräte.13 And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
14 Und ein Knabe von den Knaben berichtete der AbigailAbigail, der FrauFrau NabalsNabals, und sprach: Siehe, DavidDavid hat Boten aus der WüsteWüste gesandt, um unseren HerrnHerrn zu segnen3; aber er hat sie angefahren.14 But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.6
15 Und doch sind die Männer sehr gut gegen uns gewesen; und es ist uns nichts zuleide geschehen, und wir haben nicht das Geringste vermisst alle die TageTage, die wir mit ihnen umhergezogen sind, als wir auf dem Feld waren.15 But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:7
16 Sie sind eine Mauer um uns gewesen bei NachtNacht wie bei TageTage, alle die TageTage, die wir bei ihnen waren und das Kleinvieh weideten.16 They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.
17 Und nun wisse und sieh zu, was du tun willst; denn das Unglück ist beschlossen gegen unseren HerrnHerrn und über sein ganzes HausHaus; und er ist ein solcher SohnSohn BelialsBelials, dass man nicht zu ihm reden kann. 17 Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.
18 Da eilte AbigailAbigail und nahm 200 BroteBrote und 2 Schläuche WeinWein und 5 zubereitete SchafeSchafe und 5 MaßMaß geröstete Körner und 100 RosinenkuchenRosinenkuchen und 200 Feigenkuchen und lud sie auf EselEsel;18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.8
19 und sie sprach zu ihren Knaben: Zieht vor mir hin; siehe, ich komme hinter euch her. Aber ihrem MannMann NabalNabal sagte sie nichts davon.19 And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.
20 Und es geschah, als sie auf dem EselEsel ritt und an einer durch den BergBerg verdeckten Stelle herabkam, siehe, da kamen DavidDavid und seine Männer herab, ihr entgegen; und sie stieß auf sie.20 And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
21 DavidDavid aber hatte gesagt: Bestimmt habe ich alles umsonst behütet, was diesem Menschen in der WüsteWüste gehörte, so dass nicht das Geringste vermisst wurde von allem, was sein ist; und er hat mir Böses für Gutes vergolten! 21 Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
22 So tue GottGott den Feinden DavidsDavids, und so füge er hinzu, wenn ich von allem, was sein ist, bis zum Morgenlicht übriglasse, was männlich ist4! 22 So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
23 Und als AbigailAbigail DavidDavid sah, da stieg sie schnell von dem EselEsel herab; und sie fiel vor DavidDavid auf ihr Angesicht und beugte sich zur ErdeErde nieder; 23 And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground,
24 und sie fiel ihm zu Füßen und sprach: Auf mir, mir, mein HerrHerr, sei die SchuldSchuld! Und lass doch deine MagdMagd zu deinen Ohren reden und höre die WorteWorte deiner MagdMagd!24 And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid.9
25 Mein HerrHerr kümmere sich doch nicht um diesen MannMann BelialsBelials, um NabalNabal; denn wie sein Name, so ist er: NabalNabal5 ist sein Name, und Torheit6 ist bei ihm. Und ich, deine MagdMagd, habe die Knaben meines HerrnHerrn nicht gesehen, die du gesandt hast.25 Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.1011
26 Und nun, mein HerrHerr, so wahr der HERRHERR lebt und deine SeeleSeele lebt, der HERRHERR hat dich verhindert in Blutschuld zu kommen, und dass deine Hand dir Hilfe schaffe! Und nun, mögen wie NabalNabal sein deine Feinde und die Böses suchen gegen meinen HerrnHerrn!26 Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.12
27 Und nun, dieses Geschenk7, das deine MagdMagd meinem HerrnHerrn gebracht hat, es werde den Knaben gegeben, die im Gefolge meines HerrnHerrn ziehen.27 And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.1314
28 Vergib doch das Vergehen deiner MagdMagd! Denn gewisslich wird der HERRHERR meinem HerrnHerrn ein beständiges HausHaus machen, weil mein HerrHerr die Kämpfe des HERRNHERRN kämpft, und kein Böses an dir gefunden wurde, seitdem du lebst. 28 I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.
29 Und ein MenschMensch ist aufgestanden, dich zu verfolgen und nach deiner SeeleSeele zu trachten; aber die SeeleSeele meines HerrnHerrn wird eingebunden sein in das Bündel der Lebendigen bei dem HERRNHERRN, deinem GottGott; und die SeeleSeele deiner Feinde, die wird er wegschleudern in der PfannePfanne der Schleuder.29 Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.15
30 Und es wird geschehen, wenn der HERR meinem HerrnHerrn tun wird nach all dem Guten, das er über dich geredet hat, und dich bestellen wird zum Fürsten über IsraelIsrael,30 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;
31 so wird dir dieses nicht zum AnstoßAnstoß sein noch zum Herzensvorwurf für meinen HerrnHerrn, dass du BlutBlut vergossen habest ohne Ursache, und dass mein HerrHerr sich selbst Hilfe geschafft habe. Und wenn der HERRHERR meinem HerrnHerrn wohltun wird, so gedenke deiner MagdMagd. 31 That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.16
32 Und DavidDavid sprach zu AbigailAbigail: Gepriesen sei der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, der dich an diesem TagTag mir entgegengesandt hat!32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:
33 Und gesegnet sei dein Verstand, und gesegnet seist du, dass du mich heute davon zurückgehalten hast, in Blutschuld zu kommen und mir mit meiner Hand Hilfe zu schaffen! 33 And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.
34 Doch aber, so wahr der HERR lebt, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, der mich verhindert hat, dir Übles zu tun, wenn du nicht geeilt hättest und mir nicht entgegengekommen wärst, so wäre dem NabalNabal bis zum Morgenlicht nicht übriggeblieben was männlich ist! 34 For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
35 Und DavidDavid nahm von ihrer Hand, was sie ihm gebracht hatte, und sprach zu ihr: Zieh in Frieden hinauf nach deinem HausHaus. Siehe, ich habe auf deine Stimme gehört und deine Person angesehen.35 So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.
36 Und als AbigailAbigail zu NabalNabal kam, siehe, da hatte er ein Mahl in seinem HausHaus wie ein Königsmahl; und das HerzHerz NabalsNabals war fröhlich in ihm, und er war über die Maßen betrunken. Und sie berichtete ihm weder Kleines noch Großes, bis der MorgenMorgen hell wurde. 36 And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
37 Und es geschah am MorgenMorgen, als der Weinrausch von NabalNabal gegangen war, da berichtete ihm seine FrauFrau diese Dinge; und sein HerzHerz erstarb in seinem Innern, und er wurde wie ein Stein. 37 But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
38 Und es geschah ungefähr 10 TageTage nachher, da schlug der HERR NabalNabal, und er starb.38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
39 Und als DavidDavid hörte, dass NabalNabal gestorben war, sprach er: Gepriesen sei der HERR, der den Rechtsstreit meiner Schmach vonseiten NabalsNabals geführt und seinen KnechtKnecht vom Bösen abgehalten hat! Und die Bosheit NabalsNabals hat der HERR auf seinen KopfKopf zurückkehren lassen. Und DavidDavid sandte hin und warb um AbigailAbigail8, um sie sich zur FrauFrau zu nehmen. 39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
40 Und die KnechteKnechte DavidsDavids kamen zu AbigailAbigail nach KarmelKarmel; und sie redeten zu ihr und sprachen: DavidDavid hat uns zu dir gesandt, um dich zu seiner FrauFrau zu nehmen.40 And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee, to take thee to him to wife.
41 Da stand sie auf und beugte sich nieder, das Gesicht zur ErdeErde, und sprach: Siehe, deine MagdMagd als Dienerin, um die Füße der KnechteKnechte meines HerrnHerrn zu waschen.41 And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
42 Und AbigailAbigail machte sich schnell auf und bestieg einen EselEsel, sie und ihre fünf Mägde, die ihrem Fuß folgten; und sie zog den Boten DavidsDavids nach, und sie wurde seine FrauFrau.42 And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.17
43 Und DavidDavid hatte auch AchinoamAchinoam von JisreelJisreel genommen; und so wurden sie alle beide seine Frauen.43 David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.
44 SaulSaul aber hatte seine TochterTochter MichalMichal, die FrauFrau DavidsDavids, PaltiPalti, dem SohnSohn des LaisLais, aus GallimGallim, gegeben.44 But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.
