1 Und David1 machte sich auf und ging weg; JonathanJonathan aber kam in die Stadt.
2 Und DavidDavid kam nach NobNob, zu AhimelechAhimelech, dem PriesterPriester. Und AhimelechAhimelech kam DavidDavid ängstlich entgegen und sprach zu ihm: Warum bist du allein, und niemand ist bei dir?1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
3 Und DavidDavid sprach zu dem PriesterPriester AhimelechAhimelech: Der König hat mir eine Sache geboten; und er sprach zu mir: Niemand soll irgendwie um die Sache wissen, in der ich dich sende und die ich dir geboten habe! Und die Knaben habe ich an den und den Ort gesandt. 2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.
4 Und nun, was ist unter deiner Hand? Gib fünf BroteBrote in meine Hand, oder was sich vorfindet.3 Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.1
5 Und der PriesterPriester antwortete DavidDavid und sprach: Es ist kein gemeines BrotBrot unter meiner Hand, sondern nur heiliges BrotBrot ist da; wenn sich nur die Knaben der Frauen enthalten haben! 4 And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
6 Und DavidDavid antwortete dem PriesterPriester und sprach zu ihm: Ja, denn Frauen sind uns versagt seit gestern und vorgestern, als ich auszog und die Gefäße der Knaben sind heilig. Und es ist einigermaßen gemeines BrotBrot, und das um so mehr, als heute neues in den Gefäßen geheiligt wird. 5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.2
7 Da gab ihm der PriesterPriester heiliges BrotBrot; denn es war dort kein anderes BrotBrot als nur das SchaubrotSchaubrot, das vor dem HERRN weggenommen worden war, um warmes BrotBrot aufzulegen am TagTag seiner Wegnahme.6 So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
8 (Es war aber dort an jenem TagTag ein MannMann von den Knechten SaulsSauls, der sich zurückgezogen vor dem HERRN aufhielt, sein Name war DoegDoeg, der EdomiterEdomiter; er war der AufseherAufseher der Hirten SaulsSauls.)7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.
9 Und DavidDavid sprach zu AhimelechAhimelech: Und ist hier nicht unter deiner Hand ein SpeerSpeer oder ein SchwertSchwert? Denn weder mein SchwertSchwert noch meine WaffenWaffen habe ich zur Hand genommen, weil die Sache des Königs dringend war.8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.
10 Und der PriesterPriester sprach: Das SchwertSchwert GoliathsGoliaths, des PhilistersPhilisters, den du im TerebinthentalTerebinthental erschlagen hast, siehe, es ist in ein OberkleidOberkleid gewickelt hinter dem EphodEphod; wenn du es dir nehmen willst, so nimm es, denn es ist kein anderes hier außer diesem. Und DavidDavid sprach: Seinesgleichen gibt es nicht; gib es mir!9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
11 Und DavidDavid machte sich auf und floh an demselben TagTag vor SaulSaul, und er kam zu AchisAchis, dem König von GatGat. 10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
12 Und die KnechteKnechte AchisAchis' sprachen zu ihm: Ist das nicht DavidDavid, der König des Landes? Haben sie nicht von diesem in den Reigen gesungen und gesprochen: „SaulSaul hat seine Tausende erschlagen, und DavidDavid seine Zehntausende“?11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
13 Und DavidDavid nahm sich diese WorteWorte zu Herzen und fürchtete sich sehr vor AchisAchis, dem König von GatGat.12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
14 Und er verstellte seinen Verstand vor ihren AugenAugen und tat unsinnig unter ihren Händen, und er kritzelte an die FlügelFlügel des ToresTores und ließ seinen Speichel auf seinen BartBart herabfließen.13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.3
15 Da sprach AchisAchis zu seinen Knechten: Siehe, ihr seht einen wahnsinnigen MannMann; warum bringt ihr ihn zu mir?14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?4
16 Fehlt es mir an Wahnsinnigen, dass ihr diesen hergebracht habt, um sich bei mir wahnsinnig zu gebärden? Sollte der in mein HausHaus kommen?15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
