1 Und DavidDavid sprach in seinem Herzen: Nun werde ich eines TagesTages durch die Hand SaulsSauls umkommen; mir ist nichts besser, als dass ich schnell in das Land der PhilisterPhilister entkomme, und SaulSaul wird von mir ablassen, mich weiterhin in allen Grenzen IsraelsIsraels zu suchen; und ich werde aus seiner Hand entkommen. 1 And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.1
2 Und DavidDavid machte sich auf und ging hinüber, er und 600 MannMann, die bei ihm waren, zu AchisAchis, dem SohnSohn MaoksMaoks, dem König von GatGat. 2 And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3 Und DavidDavid blieb bei AchisAchis, in GatGat, er und seine Männer, jeder mit seinem HausHaus: DavidDavid und seine beiden Frauen, AchinoamAchinoam, die Jisreelitin, und AbigailAbigail, die FrauFrau NabalsNabals, die KarmelitinKarmelitin.3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's wife.
4 Und es wurde SaulSaul berichtet, dass DavidDavid nach GatGat geflohen wäre; und er suchte ihn fortan nicht mehr.4 And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
5 Und DavidDavid sprach zu AchisAchis: Wenn ich denn GnadeGnade in deinen AugenAugen gefunden habe, so gebe man mir einen Platz in einer der Städte des Gefildes, dass ich dort wohne; denn warum soll dein KnechtKnecht bei dir in der Königsstadt wohnen? 5 And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?
6 Und AchisAchis gab ihm an diesem TagTag ZiklagZiklag; darum hat ZiklagZiklag den Königen von JudaJuda gehört bis auf diesen TagTag. 6 Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
7 Und die Zahl der TageTage, die DavidDavid im Gefilde der PhilisterPhilister wohnte, war 1 JahrJahr und 4 MonateMonate. 7 And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.23
8 Und DavidDavid zog mit seinen Männern hinauf, und sie fielen ein bei den GesuriternGesuritern und den GirsiternGirsitern und den AmalekiternAmalekitern; denn diese waren die Bewohner des Landes von alters her, bis nach SurSur hin und bis zum Land Ägypten.8 And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.4
9 Und DavidDavid schlug das Land und ließ weder MannMann noch FrauFrau am LebenLeben; und er nahm Kleinvieh und RinderRinder und EselEsel und KameleKamele und KleiderKleider, und kehrte zurück und kam zu AchisAchis.9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
10 Und sprach AchisAchis: Habt ihr heute keinen Einfall gemacht?1 so sprach DavidDavid: In den SüdenSüden von JudaJuda, oder: in den SüdenSüden der JerachmeeliterJerachmeeliter, oder: in den SüdenSüden der KeniterKeniter.10 And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.5
11 Und DavidDavid ließ weder MannMann noch FrauFrau am LebenLeben, um sie nach GatGat zu bringen, indem er sagte: dass sie nicht über uns berichten und sprechen: So hat DavidDavid getan. Und so war seine WeiseWeise alle die TageTage, die er im Gefilde der PhilisterPhilister wohnte. 11 And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
12 Und AchisAchis glaubte DavidDavid und sprach: Er hat sich bei seinem Volk, bei IsraelIsrael, ganz stinkend gemacht, und er wird mir zum KnechtKnecht sein ewiglich. 12 And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.6
