1 Und der Knabe SamuelSamuel diente dem HERRN vor EliEli. Und das WortWort des HERRN war selten in jenen Tagen, GesichteGesichte waren nicht häufig1.1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
2 Und es geschah in jener ZeitZeit, als EliEli an seinem Ort lag – seine AugenAugen aber hatten begonnen, schwach zu werden, er konnte nicht sehen –2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
3 und die LampeLampe GottesGottes war noch nicht erloschen, und SamuelSamuel lag im TempelTempel des HERRN, wo die LadeLade GottesGottes war,3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
4 da rief der HERR den SamuelSamuel. Und er sprach: Hier bin ich!4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
5 Und er lief zu EliEli und sprach: Hier bin ich, denn du hast mich gerufen. Aber er sprach: Ich habe nicht gerufen, lege dich wieder2. Und er ging hin und legte sich.5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6 Und der HERR rief wiederum: SamuelSamuel! Und SamuelSamuel stand auf und ging zu EliEli und sprach: Hier bin ich, denn du hast mich gerufen. Und er sprach: Ich habe nicht gerufen, mein SohnSohn, lege dich wieder.6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
7 SamuelSamuel aber kannte den HERRN noch nicht, und das WortWort des HERRN war ihm noch nicht offenbart.7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.1
8 Und der HERR rief wiederum zum dritten Mal: SamuelSamuel! Und er stand auf und ging zu EliEli und sprach: Hier bin ich, denn du hast mich gerufen. Da erkannte EliEli, dass der HERR den Knaben rief. 8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
9 Und EliEli sprach zu SamuelSamuel: Geh hin, lege dich; und es geschehe, wenn man3 dich ruft, so sprich: Rede, HERR, denn dein KnechtKnecht hört. Und SamuelSamuel ging hin und legte sich an seinen Ort.9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 Und der HERR kam und trat hin und rief wie die anderen Male: SamuelSamuel, SamuelSamuel! Und SamuelSamuel sprach: Rede, denn dein KnechtKnecht hört.10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
11 Da sprach der HERR zu SamuelSamuel: Siehe, ich will eine Sache tun in IsraelIsrael, dass jedem, der sie hört, seine beiden Ohren gellen sollen.11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
12 An diesem TagTag werde ich gegen EliEli alles ausführen, was ich über sein HausHaus geredet habe: Ich werde beginnen und vollenden. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.2
13 Denn ich habe ihm mitgeteilt, dass ich sein HausHaus richten will ewiglich, um der Ungerechtigkeit willen, die er gewusst hat, dass4 seine Söhne sich den FluchFluch zuzogen5, und er ihnen nicht gewehrt hat. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.345
14 Und darum habe ich dem HausHaus ElisElis geschworen: Wenn die Ungerechtigkeit des Hauses ElisElis gesühnt werden soll durch SchlachtopferSchlachtopfer und durch SpeisopferSpeisopfer ewiglich! 14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
15 Und SamuelSamuel lag bis zum MorgenMorgen; da tat er die Tür6 des Hauses des HERRN auf. Und SamuelSamuel fürchtete sich, EliEli das Gesicht mitzuteilen. 15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.
16 Da rief EliEli den SamuelSamuel und sprach: SamuelSamuel, mein SohnSohn! Und er sprach: Hier bin ich!16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
17 Und er sprach: Was ist das WortWort, das er zu dir geredet hat? Verschweige es mir doch nicht. So tue dir GottGott und so füge er hinzu, wenn du mir etwas verschweigst von allem, was er zu dir geredet hat! 17 And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.67
18 Da tat ihm SamuelSamuel alle die WorteWorte kund und verschwieg ihm nichts. Und er sprach: Er ist der HERR; er tue, was gut ist in seinen AugenAugen. 18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.8
19 Und SamuelSamuel wurde groß; und der HERR war mit ihm und ließ keines von allen seinen Worten auf die ErdeErde fallen.19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 Und ganz IsraelIsrael, von DanDan bis BeersebaBeerseba, erkannte, dass SamuelSamuel als ProphetProphet des HERRN bestätigt war.20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.9
21 Und der HERR fuhr fort, in SiloSilo zu erscheinen; denn der HERR offenbarte sich dem SamuelSamuel in SiloSilo durch das WortWort des HERRN.21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
