1 Und wir wandten uns und brachen auf nach der WüsteWüste, den Weg zum SchilfmeerSchilfmeer, wie der HERR zu mir geredet hatte; und wir umzogen das GebirgeGebirge SeirSeir viele TageTage.1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.
2 Und der HERR redete zu mir und sprach:2 And the LORD spake unto me, saying,
3 Lange genug habt ihr dieses GebirgeGebirge umzogen; wendet euch nach NordenNorden.3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 Und gebiete dem Volk und sprich: Ihr werdet nun durch das Gebiet eurer BrüderBrüder, der KinderKinder EsauEsau, ziehen, die in SeirSeir wohnen, und sie werden sich vor euch fürchten; so habt wohl acht! 4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:
5 Lasst euch nicht in StreitStreit mit ihnen ein, denn ich werde euch von ihrem Land auch nicht den Tritt einer Fußsohle geben; denn das GebirgeGebirge SeirSeir habe ich dem EsauEsau als Besitztum gegeben.5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.1
6 Speise sollt ihr um GeldGeld von ihnen kaufen, dass ihr esst, und auch Wasser sollt ihr um GeldGeld von ihnen kaufen, dass ihr trinkt.6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.
7 Denn der HERR, dein GottGott, hat dich gesegnet in allem Werk deiner Hand. Er kannte dein Ziehen durch diese große WüsteWüste: Diese 40 JahreJahre ist der HERR, dein GottGott, mit dir gewesen; es hat dir an nichts gemangelt. 7 For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 Und wir zogen weiter, an unseren BrüdernBrüdern, den KindernKindern EsauEsau, vorüber, die in SeirSeir wohnen, von dem Weg der EbeneEbene, von ElatElat und von Ezjon-GeberEzjon-Geber her; und wir wandten uns und zogen den Weg in die WüsteWüste von MoabMoab. 8 And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Befeinde MoabMoab nicht und lass dich nicht in StreitStreit mit ihnen ein, denn ich werde dir von seinem Land kein Besitztum geben; denn ArAr habe ich den KindernKindern LotLot als Besitztum gegeben. –9 And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.2
10 Die EmimEmim wohnten vorher darin, ein großes und zahlreiches und hohes Volk, wie die EnakimEnakim. 10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
11 Auch sie werden für Riesen1 gehalten, wie die EnakimEnakim; und die MoabiterMoabiter nennen sie EmimEmim.11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.
12 Und in SeirSeir wohnten vorher die HoriterHoriter; aber die KinderKinder EsauEsau trieben sie aus und vertilgten sie vor sich und wohnten an ihrer statt, so wie IsraelIsrael dem Land seines Besitztums getan, das der HERR ihnen gegeben hat. –12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.34
13 Nun macht euch auf und zieht über den BachBach2 SeredSered. Und wir zogen über den BachBach SeredSered.13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.5
14 Die TageTage aber, die wir von Kades-BarneaKades-Barnea gegangen sind, bis wir über den BachBach SeredSered zogen, waren 38 JahreJahre, bis das ganze GeschlechtGeschlecht der Kriegsleute aus dem LagerLager aufgerieben war, so wie der HERR ihnen geschworen hatte.14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.6
15 Und auch war die Hand des HERRN gegen sie, um sie aus dem LagerLager zu vertilgen, bis sie aufgerieben waren.15 For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
16 Und es geschah, als die Kriegsleute insgesamt3 aus der Mitte des Volkes weggestorben waren, 16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
17 da redete der HERR zu mir und sprach:17 That the LORD spake unto me, saying,
18 Du wirst heute die Grenze von MoabMoab, von ArAr, überschreiten,18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:
19 und dich nähern gegenüber den KindernKindern AmmonAmmon; du sollst sie nicht befeinden und dich nicht in StreitStreit mit ihnen einlassen, denn ich werde dir von dem Land der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon kein Besitztum geben; denn ich habe es den KindernKindern LotLot als Besitztum gegeben. – 19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.
20 Für ein Land der Riesen wird auch dieses gehalten; Riesen wohnten vorher darin, und die AmmoniterAmmoniter nennen sie SamsummimSamsummim: 20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
21 ein großes und zahlreiches und hohes Volk, wie die EnakimEnakim; und der HERR vertilgte sie vor ihnen, und sie trieben sie aus und wohnten an ihrer statt; 21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
22 so wie er für die KinderKinder EsauEsau getan hat, die in SeirSeir wohnen, vor denen er die HoriterHoriter vertilgte; und sie trieben sie aus und wohnten an ihrer statt bis auf diesen TagTag.22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
23 Und die AwimAwim, die in DörfernDörfern wohnten bis Gaza4 – die Kaphtorim, die aus KaphtorKaphtor kamen, vertilgten dieselben und wohnten an ihrer statt. – 23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 MachtMacht euch auf, brecht auf und zieht über den FlussFluss ArnonArnon. Siehe, ich habe SihonSihon, den König von HesbonHesbon, den AmoriterAmoriter, und sein Land in deine Hand gegeben; beginne, nimm in Besitz und bekriege ihn! 24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.7
25 An diesem TagTag will ich beginnen, deinen Schrecken und deine Furcht auf die Völker unter dem ganzen HimmelHimmel zu legen, die das Nachricht von dir hören und5 vor dir zittern und beben werden. 25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
26 Und ich sandte Boten aus der WüsteWüste KedemotKedemot an SihonSihon, den König von HesbonHesbon, mit Worten des Friedens, und sprach: 26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 Lass mich durch dein Land ziehen! Nur auf der Straße will ich gehen, ich will weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken weichen; 27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
28 Speise sollst du mir um GeldGeld verkaufen, dass ich esse, und Wasser sollst du mir um GeldGeld geben, dass ich trinke. Nur mit meinen Füßen will ich durchziehen, –28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
29 wie mir die KinderKinder EsauEsau getan haben, die in SeirSeir wohnen, und die MoabiterMoabiter, die in ArAr wohnen – bis ich über den JordanJordan in das Land ziehe, das der HERR, unser GottGott, uns gibt.29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.
30 Aber SihonSihon, der König von HesbonHesbon, wollte uns nicht bei sich durchziehen lassen; denn der HERR, dein GottGott, hatte seinen GeistGeist verhärtet und sein HerzHerz verstockt, damit er ihn in deine Hand gäbe, wie es an diesem TagTag ist.30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.
31 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Siehe, ich habe begonnen, SihonSihon und sein Land vor dir dahinzugeben; beginne, nimm in Besitz, damit du sein Land besitzest.31 And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
32 Und SihonSihon zog aus, uns entgegen, er und all sein Volk, zum KampfKampf nach JahazJahaz. 32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
33 Aber der HERR, unser GottGott, gab ihn vor uns dahin; und wir schlugen ihn und seine Söhne und all sein Volk. 33 And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 Und in jener ZeitZeit nahmen wir alle seine Städte ein, und wir verbannten6 ihre ganze Bevölkerung: Männer und Frauen und KinderKinder7; wir ließen keinen Entkommenen übrig. 34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:8
35 Nur das ViehVieh erbeuteten wir für uns und den RaubRaub der Städte, die wir einnahmen.35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 Von AroerAroer, das am Ufer des Flusses ArnonArnon ist, und zwar von der Stadt, die im Flusstale8 liegt, bis GileadGilead war keine Stadt, die uns zu stark9 gewesen wäre: Alles gab der HERR, unser GottGott, vor uns dahin. 36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:
37 Nur dem Land der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon, der ganzen Seite des Flusses JabbokJabbok, bist du nicht genaht, noch den Städten des GebirgesGebirges, noch allem, was der HERR, unser GottGott, verboten hatte. 37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.
