1 Dies sind die WorteWorte, die MoseMose zu ganz IsraelIsrael geredet hat diesseits1 des JordanJordan, in der WüsteWüste, in der Ebene2, Suph gegenüber, zwischen ParanParan und TophelTophel und LabanLaban und HazerotHazerot und Di-SahabDi-Sahab.1 These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.1
2 Elf Tagereisen sind vom HorebHoreb, auf dem Weg des GebirgesGebirges SeirSeir, bis Kades-BarneaKades-Barnea.2 (There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)

Monat, am 1. des Monats, da redete MoseMose zu den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael nach allem, was der HERR ihm an sie geboten hatte, 3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

6 Der HERR, unser GottGott, redete zu uns am HorebHoreb und sprach: Lange genug seid ihr an diesem BergBerg geblieben;6 The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
7 wendet euch und brecht auf und zieht nach dem GebirgeGebirge der AmoriterAmoriter und zu allen ihren Anwohnern in der Ebene5, auf dem GebirgeGebirge und in der Niederung6 und im SüdenSüden und am Ufer des MeeresMeeres, in das Land der KanaaniterKanaaniter und zum LibanonLibanon, bis zu dem großen Strom, dem Strom Phrat.7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.2
8 Siehe, ich habe das Land vor euch gestellt; geht hinein und nehmt das Land in Besitz, das der HERR euren VäternVätern, AbrahamAbraham, IsaakIsaak und JakobJakob, geschworen hat, ihnen zu geben und ihren Nachkommen nach ihnen.8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.3
9 Und ich sprach zu euch in jener ZeitZeit und sagte: Ich allein kann euch nicht tragen.9 And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
10 Der HERR, euer GottGott, hat euch vermehrt, und siehe, ihr seid heute wie die Sterne des HimmelsHimmels an Menge. 10 The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
11 Der HERR, der GottGott eurer VäterVäter, füge zu euch, so viele ihr seid, tausendmal hinzu und segne euch, wie er zu euch geredet hat!11 (The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)
12 Wie könnte ich allein eure Bürde und eure LastLast und euren Hader tragen?12 How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
13 Nehmt euch weise und verständige und bekannte Männer, nach euren Stämmen, dass ich sie zu Häuptern über euch setze.13 Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.4
14 Und ihr antwortetet mir und spracht: Gut ist die Sache, die du zu tun7 gesagt hast.14 And ye answered me, and said, The thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.
15 Und ich nahm die Häupter eurer StämmeStämme, weise und bekannte Männer, und setzte sie als Häupter über euch, als Oberste über 1000 und Oberste über 100 und Oberste über 50 und Oberste über 10, und als VorsteherVorsteher eurer StämmeStämme8.15 So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.5
16 Und ich gebot euren RichternRichtern in jener ZeitZeit und sprach: Hört die Streitsachen zwischen euren BrüdernBrüdern und richtet in GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit zwischen einem MannMann und seinem BruderBruder und dem Fremden bei ihm.16 And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
17 Ihr sollt nicht die Person ansehen im GerichtGericht; den Kleinen wie den Großen sollt ihr hören; ihr sollt euch vor niemand fürchten, denn das GerichtGericht ist GottesGottes. Die Sache aber, die zu schwierig für euch ist, sollt ihr vor mich bringen, dass ich sie höre.17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.6
18 Und ich gebot euch in jener ZeitZeit alle die Sachen, die ihr tun solltet.18 And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
19 Und wir brachen auf vom HorebHoreb und zogen durch diese ganze große und schreckliche WüsteWüste, die ihr gesehen habt, den Weg zum GebirgeGebirge der AmoriterAmoriter, so wie der HERR, unser GottGott, uns geboten hatte; und wir kamen bis Kades-BarneaKades-Barnea.19 And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.
20 Und ich sprach zu euch: Ihr seid gekommen bis zu dem GebirgeGebirge der AmoriterAmoriter, das der HERR, unser GottGott, uns gibt.20 And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.
21 Siehe, der HERR, dein GottGott, hat das Land vor dich gestellt; zieh hinauf, nimm in Besitz, so wie der HERR, der GottGott deiner VäterVäter, zu dir geredet hat; fürchte dich nicht und verzage nicht!21 Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
22 Und ihr tratet alle zu mir und spracht: Lasst uns Männer vor uns hersenden, dass sie uns das Land erforschen und uns Bescheid bringen über den Weg, auf dem wir hinaufziehen, und über die Städte, zu denen wir kommen sollen. 22 And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
23 Und die Sache war gut in meinen AugenAugen; und ich nahm aus euch zwölf Männer, je einen MannMann für den Stamm. 23 And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
24 Und sie wandten sich und zogen ins GebirgeGebirge hinauf, und sie kamen bis zum TalTal EskolEskol und kundschafteten es9 aus.24 And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
25 Und sie nahmen von der Frucht des Landes in ihre Hand und brachten sie zu uns herab. Und sie brachten uns Bescheid und sprachen: Das Land ist gut, das der HERR, unser GottGott, uns gibt. 25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.
26 Aber ihr wolltet nicht hinaufziehen und wart widerspenstig gegen den Befehl des HERRN, eures GottesGottes.26 Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
27 Und ihr murrtet in euren Zelten und spracht: Weil der HERR uns hasste, hat er uns aus dem Land Ägypten herausgeführt, um uns in die Hand der AmoriterAmoriter zu geben, dass sie uns vertilgen.27 And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
28 Wohin sollen wir hinaufziehen? Unsere BrüderBrüder haben unser HerzHerz verzagt gemacht, indem sie sagten: Ein Volk, größer und höher als wir, Städte, groß und befestigtbefestigt bis an den HimmelHimmel, und auch die KinderKinder der EnakimEnakim haben wir dort gesehen!28 Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.7
29 Da sprach ich zu euch: Erschreckt nicht und fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen!29 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
30 Der HERR, euer GottGott, der vor euch herzieht, er wird für euch kämpfen, nach allem, was er in Ägypten vor euren AugenAugen für euch getan hat,30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
31 und in der WüsteWüste, wo du gesehen hast, dass der HERR, dein GottGott, dich getragen hat, wie ein MannMann seinen SohnSohn trägt, auf dem ganzen Weg, den ihr gezogen seid, bis ihr an diesen Ort kamt.31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32 Aber in dieser Sache10 glaubtet ihr nicht dem HERRN, eurem GottGott,32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
33 der auf dem Weg vor euch herzog, um euch einen Ort zu erkunden, dass ihr euch lagern konntet: des NachtsNachts im FeuerFeuer, dass ihr auf dem Weg sehen konntet, auf dem ihr zogt, und des TagesTages in der WolkeWolke. 33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
34 Und der HERR hörte die Stimme eurer Reden und wurde zornig und schwur und sprach:34 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
35 Wenn ein MannMann unter diesen Männern, diesem bösen GeschlechtGeschlecht, das gute Land sehen wird, das ich geschworen habe euren VäternVätern zu geben,35 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
36 außer KalebKaleb, dem SohnSohn JephunnesJephunnes! Er soll es sehen, und ihm und seinen Söhnen werde ich das Land geben, auf das er getreten ist, weil er dem HERRN völlig nachgefolgt ist.36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.8
37 Auch gegen mich erzürnte der HERR eurethalben und sprach: Auch du sollst nicht hineinkommen!37 Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
38 JosuaJosua, der SohnSohn Nuns, der vor dir steht, er soll hineinkommen; ihn stärke, denn er soll es IsraelIsrael als ErbeErbe austeilen.38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39 Und eure kleinen KinderKinder, von denen ihr sagtet: Sie werden zur BeuteBeute werden! Und eure Söhne, die heute weder Gutes noch Böses kennen, sie sollen hineinkommen, und ihnen werde ich es geben, und sie sollen es in Besitz nehmen.39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40 Ihr aber, wendet euch und brecht auf nach der WüsteWüste, den Weg zum SchilfmeerSchilfmeer!40 But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
41 Da antwortetet ihr und spracht zu mir: Wir haben gegen den HERRN gesündigt; wir wollen hinaufziehen und kämpfen, nach allem, was der HERR, unser GottGott, uns geboten hat. Und ihr gürtetet jeder sein Kriegsgerät um und zogt leichtfertig in das GebirgeGebirge hinauf. 41 Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
42 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Sprich zu ihnen: Zieht nicht hinauf und kämpft nicht, denn ich bin nicht in eurer Mitte; dass ihr nicht vor euren Feinden geschlagen werdet!42 And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43 Und ich redete zu euch, aber ihr hörtet nicht; und ihr wart widerspenstig gegen den Befehl des HERRN und handeltet vermessen und zogt in das GebirgeGebirge hinauf.43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.9
44 Und die AmoriterAmoriter, die auf jenem GebirgeGebirge wohnten, zogen aus, euch entgegen, und verfolgten euch, wie die Bienen tun, und zersprengten euch in SeirSeir bis HormaHorma.44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
45 Und ihr kehrtet zurück und weintet vor dem HERRN; aber der HERR hörte nicht auf eure Stimme und neigte sein OhrOhr nicht zu euch. –45 And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
46 Und ihr bliebt in KadesKades viele TageTage, nach den Tagen, die ihr bliebt.46 So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.
