1 Und der KanaaniterKanaaniter, der König von AradArad, der im SüdenSüden wohnte, hörte, dass IsraelIsrael den Weg nach Atharim1 kam, und er kämpfte gegen IsraelIsrael und führte Gefangene von ihm weg.1 And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
2 Da tat IsraelIsrael dem HERRN ein GelübdeGelübde und sprach: Wenn du dieses Volk gewisslich in meine Hand gibst, so werde ich seine Städte verbannen.2 And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
3 Und der HERR hörte auf die Stimme IsraelsIsraels und gab die KanaaniterKanaaniter in seine Hand; und es verbannte sie und ihre Städte. Und man gab dem Ort den NamenNamen Horma2.3 And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.1
4 Und sie brachen auf vom BergBerg HorHor, den Weg zum SchilfmeerSchilfmeer, um das Land EdomEdom zu umgehen. Und die SeeleSeele des Volkes wurde ungeduldig3 auf dem Weg; 4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.2
5 und das Volk redete gegen GottGott und gegen MoseMose: Warum habt ihr uns aus Ägypten heraufgeführt, dass wir in der WüsteWüste sterben? Denn da ist kein BrotBrot und kein Wasser, und unserer SeeleSeele ekelt vor dieser elenden Speise.5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 Da sandte der HERR feurige Schlangen4 unter das Volk, und sie bissen das Volk; und es starb viel Volks aus IsraelIsrael.6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Da kam das Volk zu MoseMose, und sie sprachen: Wir haben gesündigt, dass wir gegen den HERRN und gegen dich geredet haben; flehe zu dem HERRN, dass er die Schlangen von uns wegnehme. Und MoseMose flehte für das Volk. 7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 Und der HERR sprach zu MoseMose: Mache dir eine feurige SchlangeSchlange und tu sie auf eine StangeStange; und es wird geschehen, jeder, der gebissen ist und sie ansieht, der wird am LebenLeben bleiben.8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 Und MoseMose machte eine SchlangeSchlange aus KupferKupfer und tat sie auf die StangeStange; und es geschah, wenn eine SchlangeSchlange jemand gebissen hatte, und er schaute auf zu der kupfernen SchlangeSchlange, so blieb er am LebenLeben.9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
10 Und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael brachen auf und lagerten sich in ObotObot.10 And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.
11 Und sie brachen auf von ObotObot und lagerten sich in Ijje-AbarimIjje-Abarim, in der WüsteWüste, die vor MoabMoab gegen SonnenaufgangSonnenaufgang ist.11 And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ijeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.3
12 Von dort brachen sie auf und lagerten sich am Bach5 SeredSered.12 From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.
13 Von dort brachen sie auf und lagerten sich jenseits6 des ArnonArnon, der in der WüsteWüste ist, der aus dem Gebiet der AmoriterAmoriter hervorgeht. Denn der ArnonArnon ist die Grenze von MoabMoab, zwischen MoabMoab und den AmoriternAmoritern.13 From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Darum heißt es in dem BuchBuch der Kämpfe des HERRN:Waheb in Sufa und die Bäche des ArnonArnon;14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,4
15 und die Ergießung der Bäche, die sich erstreckt nach dem Wohnsitz Ars7 und sich lehnt an die Grenze von MoabMoab.15 And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.5
16 Und von dort zogen sie nach Beer8; das ist der BrunnenBrunnen, von dem der HERR zu MoseMose sprach: Versammle das Volk, und ich will ihnen Wasser geben.16 And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
17 Damals sang IsraelIsrael dieses Lied:Herauf, BrunnenBrunnen! Singt ihm zu!17 Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:67
18 BrunnenBrunnen, den Fürsten gegraben, den die Edlen des Volkes mit dem GesetzgeberGesetzgeber gehöhlt haben9, mit ihren Stäben!Und aus der WüsteWüste zogen sie nach MattanaMattana;18 The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:
19 und von MattanaMattana nach NachalielNachaliel, und von NachalielNachaliel nach BamotBamot;19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:
20 und von BamotBamot nach dem Tal10, das im Gefilde MoabsMoabs ist, nach dem Gipfel des PisgaPisga, der emporragt über die Fläche der WildnisWildnis. 20 And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.8910
21 Und IsraelIsrael sandte Boten zu SihonSihon, dem König der AmoriterAmoriter, und ließ ihm sagen:21 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
22 Lass mich durch dein Land ziehen! Wir wollen nicht in die Äcker und in die WeinbergeWeinberge ausbiegen, wir wollen kein Wasser aus den BrunnenBrunnen trinken; auf der Straße des Königs wollen wir ziehen, bis wir durch dein Gebiet gezogen sind. 22 Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's high way, until we be past thy borders.
23 Aber SihonSihon gestattete IsraelIsrael nicht, durch sein Gebiet zu ziehen; und SihonSihon versammelte all sein Volk und zog aus, IsraelIsrael entgegen in die WüsteWüste, und kam nach JahazJahaz und kämpfte gegen IsraelIsrael. 23 And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
24 Und IsraelIsrael schlug ihn mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes und nahm sein Land in Besitz, vom ArnonArnon bis an den JabbokJabbok, bis zu den KindernKindern AmmonAmmon; denn die Grenze der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon war fest.24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25 Und IsraelIsrael nahm alle diese Städte, und IsraelIsrael wohnte in allen Städten der AmoriterAmoriter, in HesbonHesbon und in allen seinen Tochterstädten.25 And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.11
26 Denn HesbonHesbon war die Stadt SihonsSihons, des Königs der AmoriterAmoriter; und dieser hatte gegen den früheren König von MoabMoab gekämpft und hatte sein ganzes Land bis an den ArnonArnon aus seiner Hand genommen.26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
27 Daher sagen die Dichter11:Kommt nach HesbonHesbon; aufgebaut und befestigtbefestigt werde die Stadt SihonsSihons!27 Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:
28 Denn FeuerFeuer ging aus von HesbonHesbon, eine Flamme von der Stadt SihonsSihons; es fraß Ar-MoabAr-Moab, die Herren der Höhen des ArnonArnon.28 For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.
29 WeheWehe dir, MoabMoab; du bist verloren, Volk des Kamos12! Er hat seine Söhne zu Flüchtlingen gemacht und seine Töchter in die GefangenschaftGefangenschaft SihonsSihons geführt, des Königs13 der AmoriterAmoriter.29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
30 Da haben wir auf sie geschossen14; HesbonHesbon ist verloren bis DibonDibon; da haben wir verwüstet bis NophachNophach – FeuerFeuer bis MedebaMedeba!30 We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31 Und IsraelIsrael wohnte im Land der AmoriterAmoriter.31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
32 Und MoseMose sandte Männer aus, um JaserJaser auszukundschaften; und sie nahmen seine TochterstädteTochterstädte ein, und er trieb die AmoriterAmoriter aus, die dort waren.32 And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.
33 Und sie wandten sich und zogen hinauf den Weg nach BasanBasan; und OgOg, der König von BasanBasan, zog aus, ihnen entgegen, er und all sein Volk, zum KampfKampf nach EdreiEdrei. 33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.
34 Und der HERR sprach zu MoseMose: Fürchte ihn nicht! Denn in deine Hand habe ich ihn gegeben und all sein Volk und sein Land; und tu ihm, so wie du SihonSihon, dem König der AmoriterAmoriter, getan hast, der in HesbonHesbon wohnte. 34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
35 Und sie schlugen ihn und seine Söhne und all sein Volk, bis ihm kein Entkommener übrigblieb; und sie nahmen sein Land in Besitz. 35 So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
