1 Und BileamBileam sprach zu BalakBalak: Baue mir hier sieben Altäre, und stelle mir hier bereit sieben StiereStiere und sieben Widder.1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.
2 Und BalakBalak tat, so wie BileamBileam gesagt hatte; und BalakBalak und BileamBileam opferten einen StierStier und einen Widder auf jedem AltarAltar.2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.
3 Und BileamBileam sprach zu BalakBalak: Stelle dich neben dein BrandopferBrandopfer, und ich will gehen; vielleicht wird der HERR mir entgegenkommen, und was er mich sehen lassen wird, das werde ich dir mitteilen. Und er ging auf eine kahle HöheHöhe. 3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.1
4 Und GottGott kam dem BileamBileam entgegen; und dieser sprach zu ihm: Die sieben Altäre habe ich zugerichtet und auf jedem AltarAltar einen StierStier und einen Widder geopfert. 4 And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.
5 Und der HERR legte ein WortWort in den Mund BileamsBileams und sprach: Kehre zu BalakBalak zurück, und so sollst du reden.5 And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.
6 Und er kehrte zu ihm zurück; und siehe, er stand neben seinem BrandopferBrandopfer, er und alle Fürsten von MoabMoab.6 And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.
7 Da hob er seinen Spruch an und sprach:Aus AramAram hat BalakBalak mich hergeführt, der König von MoabMoab von den Bergen des OstensOstens: Komm, verfluche mir JakobJakob; ja, komm, verwünsche IsraelIsrael!7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.
8 Wie soll ich verfluchen, den Gott1 nicht verflucht, und wie verwünschen, den der HERR nicht verwünscht hat?8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?
9 Denn vom Gipfel der Felsen sehe ich es, und von den Höhen herab schaue ich es: Siehe, ein Volk, das abgesondert wohnt und unter die NationenNationen nicht gerechnet wird.9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.
10 Wer könnte zählen den Staub2 JakobsJakobs und, der Zahl nach, den vierten Teil3 IsraelsIsraels? Meine SeeleSeele sterbe den TodTod der Rechtschaffenen, und mein Ende sei wie das ihre4! 10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!2
11 Da sprach BalakBalak zu BileamBileam: Was hast du mir getan! Meine Feinde zu verwünschen habe ich dich holen lassen, und siehe, du hast sie sogar gesegnet!11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.
12 Und er antwortete und sprach: Muss ich nicht darauf achten, das zu reden, was der HERR in meinen Mund legt?12 And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?
13 Und BalakBalak sprach zu ihm: Komm doch mit mir an einen anderen Ort, von wo aus du es sehen wirst; nur sein Äußerstes wirst du sehen, und ganz wirst du es nicht sehen; und verwünsche es mir von dort aus.13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.
14 Und er nahm ihn mit nach dem Feld der Wächter, auf den Gipfel des PisgaPisga; und er baute sieben Altäre und opferte einen StierStier und einen Widder auf jedem AltarAltar.14 And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.3
15 Und er sprach zu BalakBalak: Stelle dich hier neben dein BrandopferBrandopfer, und ich, ich will dort entgegengehen5.15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the LORD yonder.
16 Und der HERR kam dem BileamBileam entgegen und legte ein WortWort in seinen Mund und sprach: Kehre zu BalakBalak zurück, und so sollst du reden.16 And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.
17 Und er kam zu ihm, und siehe, er stand neben seinem BrandopferBrandopfer, und die Fürsten von MoabMoab mit ihm. Und BalakBalak sprach zu ihm: Was hat der HERR geredet?17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?
18 Da hob er seinen Spruch an und sprach:Steh auf, BalakBalak, und höre! Horche auf mich, SohnSohn ZipporsZippors!18 And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:
19 Nicht ein MenschMensch ist Gott6, dass er lüge, noch ein Menschensohn, dass er bereue. Sollte er gesprochen haben und es nicht tun, und geredet haben und es nicht aufrecht halten? 19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
20 Siehe, zu segnen habe ich empfangen; und er hat gesegnet, und ich kann7 es nicht wenden.20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
21 Er erblickt keine Ungerechtigkeit in JakobJakob und sieht kein Unrecht in IsraelIsrael; der HERR, sein GottGott, ist mit ihm, und Jubelgeschrei wie um einen König8 ist in seiner Mitte. 21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.
22 Gott9 hat ihn10 aus Ägypten herausgeführt; sein ist die Stärke11 des Wildochsen.22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.
23 Denn da ist keine ZaubereiZauberei gegen JakobJakob, und keine WahrsagereiWahrsagerei gegen IsraelIsrael. Um diese ZeitZeit wird von JakobJakob und von IsraelIsrael gesagt werden, was GottGott12 gewirkt hat13.23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!4
24 Siehe, ein Volk: wie eine Löwin steht es auf, und wie ein LöweLöwe erhebt es sich! Es legt sich nicht nieder, bis es den RaubRaub verzehrt und das BlutBlut der Erschlagenen getrunken hat.24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
25 Da sprach BalakBalak zu BileamBileam: Du sollst es gar nicht verwünschen, und du sollst es gar nicht segnen.25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.
26 Und BileamBileam antwortete und sprach zu BalakBalak: Habe ich nicht zu dir geredet und gesagt: Alles, was der HERR reden wird, das werde ich tun?26 But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?
27 Und BalakBalak sprach zu BileamBileam: Komm doch, ich will dich an einen anderen Ort mitnehmen; vielleicht wird es in den AugenAugen GottesGottes recht sein, dass du es mir von dort aus verwünschst.27 And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.
28 Und BalakBalak nahm den BileamBileam mit auf den Gipfel des PeorPeor, der emporragt über die Fläche der WildnisWildnis.28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jeshimon.
29 Und BileamBileam sprach zu BalakBalak: Baue mir hier sieben Altäre, und stelle mir hier bereit sieben StiereStiere und sieben Widder.29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.
30 Und BalakBalak tat, so wie BileamBileam gesagt hatte; und er opferte einen StierStier und einen Widder auf jedem AltarAltar.30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.
