1 Und ZopharZophar, der Naamatiter, antwortete und sprach:1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2 Sollte die Menge der WorteWorte nicht beantwortet werden, oder sollte ein SchwätzerSchwätzer recht behalten?2 Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?1
3 Sollte dein Gerede die Leute zum Schweigen bringen, dass du spotten solltest und niemand dich beschämen,3 Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?2
4 dass du sagen solltest: Meine LehreLehre ist lauter, und ich bin rein in deinen AugenAugen? 4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
5 Aber möchte GottGott doch reden und seine Lippen gegen dich öffnen 5 But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
6 und dir mitteilen die Geheimnisse der Weisheit, dass sie das Doppelte ist an Bestand1! Dann müsstest du erkennen, dass GottGott dir viel von deiner Ungerechtigkeit übersieht2. 6 And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
7 Kannst du die Tiefe GottesGottes erreichen, oder das WesenWesen des Allmächtigen ergründen3?7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
8 Himmelhoch sind sie – was kannst du tun? Tiefer als der ScheolScheol – was kannst du wissen? 8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?3
9 Länger als die ErdeErde ist ihr MaßMaß und breiter als das MeerMeer.9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10 Wenn er vorüberzieht und in Verhaft nimmt und zum GerichtGericht versammelt, wer will ihm dann wehren? 10 If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?45
11 Denn er kennt die falschen Leute; und er sieht Frevel, ohne dass er achtgibt4. 11 For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
12 Auch ein Hohlköpfiger gewinnt Verstand, wenn auch der MenschMensch als ein Wildeselsfüllen geboren wird5. 12 For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.6
13 Wenn du dein HerzHerz richtest6 und deine Hände zu ihm ausbreitest –13 If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
14 wenn Frevel in deiner Hand ist, so entferne ihn, und lass Unrecht nicht wohnen in deinen Zelten –14 If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
15 ja, dann wirst du dein Angesicht erheben ohne Makel, und wirst unerschütterlich sein und dich nicht fürchten.15 For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
16 Denn du wirst die Mühsal vergessen, wirst ihrer gedenken wie vorübergeflossener Wasser; 16 Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
17 und heller als der Mittag wird dein LebenLeben erstehen; mag es finster sein – wie der MorgenMorgen wird es werden.17 And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.7
18 Und du wirst VertrauenVertrauen fassen, weil es HoffnungHoffnung gibt; und du wirst Umschau halten, in Sicherheit dich niederlegen.18 And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
19 Und du wirst dich lagern, und niemand wird dich aufschrecken; und viele werden deine Gunst suchen.19 Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.8
20 Aber die AugenAugen der Gottlosen werden verschmachten; und jede ZufluchtZuflucht ist ihnen verloren, und ihre HoffnungHoffnung ist das Aushauchen der SeeleSeele.20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.910
