1 Und der König sandte hin, und man versammelte zu ihm alle Ältesten von JudaJuda und von JerusalemJerusalem.1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2 Und der König ging in das HausHaus des HERRN hinauf, und alle Männer von JudaJuda und alle Bewohner von JerusalemJerusalem mit ihm, und die PriesterPriester und die ProphetenPropheten, und alles Volk, vom Kleinsten bis zum Größten; und man las vor ihren Ohren alle WorteWorte des BuchesBuches des BundesBundes, das im HausHaus des HERRN gefunden worden war.2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.1
3 Und der König stand auf dem Standort und machte den BundBund vor dem HERRN, dem HERRN nachzuwandeln und seine GeboteGebote und seine Zeugnisse und seine SatzungenSatzungen zu beobachten mit ganzem Herzen und mit ganzer SeeleSeele, um die WorteWorte dieses BundesBundes zu erfüllen, die in diesem BuchBuch geschrieben sind. Und das ganze Volk trat in den BundBund. 3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4 Und der König gebot HilkijaHilkija, dem Hohenpriester, und den PriesternPriestern zweiten Ranges und den Hütern der Schwelle, aus dem TempelTempel des HERRN alle Geräte hinauszutun, die dem BaalBaal und der AscheraAschera und dem ganzen Heer des HimmelsHimmels gemacht worden waren; und er verbrannte sie außerhalb JerusalemsJerusalems in den Gefilden des KidronKidron, und ließ ihren StaubStaub nach BethelBethel bringen. 4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
5 Und er schaffte die Götzenpriester1 ab, die die KönigeKönige von JudaJuda eingesetzt hatten und die auf den Höhen, in den Städten von JudaJuda und in der Umgebung von JerusalemJerusalem geräuchert hatten; und die, die dem BaalBaal, der SonneSonne und dem MondMond und dem Tierkreis2 und dem ganzen Heer des HimmelsHimmels räucherten.5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.234
6 Und er schaffte die AscheraAschera aus dem HausHaus des HERRN hinaus, außerhalb JerusalemsJerusalems, in das TalTal3 KidronKidron; und er verbrannte sie im TalTal KidronKidron und zermalmte sie zu StaubStaub und warf ihren StaubStaub auf die Gräber der KinderKinder des Volkes4.6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7 Und er riss die Häuser der BuhlerBuhler nieder, die sich im HausHaus des HERRN befanden, worin die Frauen Zelte5 webten für die AscheraAschera. 7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.5
8 Und er ließ alle PriesterPriester aus den Städten JudasJudas kommen und verunreinigte die Höhen, wo die PriesterPriester geräuchert hatten, von GebaGeba bis BeersebaBeerseba. Und er riss die Höhen der ToreTore nieder, die am Eingang des ToresTores JosuasJosuas, des Obersten der Stadt, und die am Stadttor zur Linken jedes Eintretenden waren. 8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.
9 Doch opferten die PriesterPriester der Höhen nicht auf dem AltarAltar6 des HERRN in JerusalemJerusalem, sondern sie aßen Ungesäuertes in der Mitte ihrer BrüderBrüder. 9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10 Und er verunreinigte das Tophet7, das im TalTal der Söhne Hinnoms lag, damit niemand mehr seinen SohnSohn oder seine TochterTochter dem MolechMolech durchs FeuerFeuer gehen ließe.10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11 Und er schaffte die PferdePferde ab, die die KönigeKönige von JudaJuda der SonneSonne gesetzt hatten am Eingang des Hauses des HERRN, bei der Zelle Nethan-MeleksNethan-Meleks, des KämmerersKämmerers, der im Parwarim8 wohnte; und die WagenWagen der SonneSonne verbrannte er mit FeuerFeuer. 11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.6
12 Und die Altäre, die auf dem Dach des ObergemachsObergemachs des AhasAhas waren, die die KönigeKönige von JudaJuda gemacht hatten, und die Altäre, die ManasseManasse in den beiden Höfen des Hauses des HERRN gemacht hatte, riss der König nieder und zertrümmerte sie9, und er warf ihren StaubStaub in das TalTal KidronKidron.12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.7
13 Und der König verunreinigte die Höhen, die vor10 JerusalemJerusalem, zur Rechten des BergesBerges des VerderbensVerderbens waren, die SalomoSalomo, der König von IsraelIsrael, der Astoret, dem Scheusal der SidonierSidonier, und Kamos11, dem Scheusal MoabsMoabs, und MilkomMilkom, dem GräuelGräuel der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon, gebaut hatte. 13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.8
14 Und er zerschlug die Bildsäulen und hieb die AscherimAscherim um, und füllte ihre Stätte mit Menschengebeinen an.14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.9
15 Und auch den AltarAltar, der in BethelBethel war, die HöheHöhe, die Jerobeam, der SohnSohn NebatsNebats, gemacht hatte, der IsraelIsrael sündigen machte, auch diesen AltarAltar und die HöheHöhe riss er nieder; und er verbrannte die HöheHöhe, zermalmte sie zu StaubStaub und verbrannte die AscheraAschera.15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16 Und als JosiaJosia sich umwandte und die Gräber sah, die dort in dem BergBerg waren, da sandte er hin und ließ die Gebeine aus den Gräbern holen und verbrannte sie auf dem AltarAltar und verunreinigte ihn, nach dem WortWort des HERRN, das der MannMann GottesGottes ausgerufen hatte, der diese Dinge ausrief.1216 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17 Und er sprach: Was ist das dort für ein Mal, das ich sehe? Und die Leute der Stadt sprachen zu ihm: Es ist das GrabGrab des MannesMannes GottesGottes, der von JudaJuda gekommen ist und diese Dinge ausgerufen hat, die du gegen den AltarAltar von BethelBethel getan hast.17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.
18 Und er sprach: Lasst ihn liegen, niemand beunruhige seine Gebeine! Und so retteten sie seine Gebeine samt den Gebeinen des ProphetenPropheten, der von SamariaSamaria gekommen war.18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.10
19 Und auch alle Häuser der Höhen, die in den Städten SamariasSamarias waren, die die KönigeKönige von IsraelIsrael gemacht hatten, um dem HERRN zu reizen, tat JosiaJosia weg; und er verfuhr mit ihnen gerade so, wie er in BethelBethel verfahren war. 19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
20 Und er schlachtete alle PriesterPriester der Höhen, die dort waren, auf den Altären und verbrannte Menschengebeine auf denselben. Und er kehrte nach JerusalemJerusalem zurück. 20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.11
21 Und der König gebot dem ganzen Volk und sprach: Feiert dem HERRN, eurem GottGott, PassahPassah, wie in diesem BuchBuch des BundesBundes geschrieben steht.21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22 Denn es war kein solches PassahPassah gefeiert worden wie dieses, von den Tagen der RichterRichter an, die IsraelIsrael gerichtet haben, und alle TageTage der KönigeKönige von IsraelIsrael und der KönigeKönige von JudaJuda;22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23 sondern im 18. JahrJahr des Königs JosiaJosia wurde dieses PassahPassah dem HERRN in JerusalemJerusalem gefeiert.23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem.
24 Und auch die TotenbeschwörerTotenbeschwörer und die WahrsagerWahrsager und die Teraphim13 und die Götzen und alle Scheusale, die im Land JudaJuda und in JerusalemJerusalem gesehen wurden, schaffte JosiaJosia weg, um die WorteWorte des GesetzesGesetzes auszuführen, die in dem BuchBuch geschrieben standen, das der PriesterPriester HilkijaHilkija im HausHaus des HERRN gefunden hatte.24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.12
25 Und vor ihm ist seinesgleichen kein König gewesen, der zu dem HERRN umgekehrt wäre mit seinem ganzen Herzen und mit seiner ganzen SeeleSeele und mit seiner ganzen KraftKraft, nach allem GesetzGesetz MosesMoses; und nach ihm ist seinesgleichen nicht aufgestanden.25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26 Doch kehrte der HERR nicht um von der großen Glut seines ZornsZorns, womit sein ZornZorn gegen JudaJuda entbrannt war, wegen all der Reizungen, mit denen ManasseManasse ihn gereizt hatte.26 Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.13
27 Und der HERR sprach: Auch JudaJuda will ich vor meinem Angesicht wegtun, wie ich IsraelIsrael weggetan habe; und ich will diese Stadt verwerfen, die ich erwählt, JerusalemJerusalem, und das HausHaus, von dem ich gesagt habe: Mein Name soll dort sein!27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28 Und das Übrige der Geschichte JosiasJosias und alles, was er getan hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem BuchBuch der Chroniken der KönigeKönige von JudaJuda? 28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29 In seinen Tagen zog der PharaoPharao NekoNeko, der König von Ägypten, gegen den König von AssyrienAssyrien hinauf, an den Strom Phrat. Und der König JosiaJosia zog ihm entgegen; aber NekoNeko14 tötete ihn in MegiddoMegiddo, sowie er ihn sah.29 In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30 Und seine KnechteKnechte führten ihn zu WagenWagen tot von MegiddoMegiddo weg und brachten ihn nach JerusalemJerusalem; und sie begruben ihn in seinem BegräbnisBegräbnis. Und das Volk des Landes nahm JoahasJoahas, den SohnSohn JosiasJosias, und sie salbten ihn und machten ihn zum König an seines VatersVaters statt.30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.
31 Joahas15 war 23 JahreJahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte 3 MonateMonate in JerusalemJerusalem; und der Name seiner MutterMutter war HamutalHamutal, die TochterTochter JeremiasJeremias, von LibnaLibna.31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 Und er tat, was böse war in den AugenAugen des HERRN, nach allem, was seine VäterVäter getan hatten.32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
33 Und der PharaoPharao NekoNeko setzte ihn gefangen in RiblaRibla im Land HamatHamat, dass er nicht mehr König wäre16 in JerusalemJerusalem; und er legte dem Land eine BußeBuße von 100 Talenten SilberSilber und 1 TalentTalent GoldGold auf.33 And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.1415
34 Und der PharaoPharao NekoNeko machte EljakimEljakim, den SohnSohn JosiasJosias, zum König an JosiasJosias, seines VatersVaters, statt, und verwandelte seinen NamenNamen in JojakimJojakim; JoahasJoahas aber nahm er mit, und er kam nach Ägypten und starb dort.34 And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35 Und JojakimJojakim gab das SilberSilber und das GoldGold dem PharaoPharao; doch schätzte er das Land, um das GeldGeld nach dem Befehl des PharaosPharaos zu geben: Von dem Volk des Landes, von jedem nach seiner Schätzung, trieb er das SilberSilber und das GoldGold ein, um es dem PharaoPharao NekoNeko zu geben.35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.
36 Jojakim17 war 25 JahreJahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte 11 JahreJahre in JerusalemJerusalem; und der Name seiner MutterMutter war Sebudda18, die TochterTochter PedajasPedajas, von RumaRuma.36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37 Und er tat, was böse war in den AugenAugen des HERRN, nach allem, was seine VäterVäter getan hatten.37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
