1 Und es geschah, als der HERR den EliaElia im SturmwindSturmwind zum HimmelHimmel auffahren ließ, da gingen EliaElia und ElisaElisa von GilgalGilgal weg.1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2 Und EliaElia sprach zu ElisaElisa: Bleibe doch hier; denn der HERR hat mich bis nach BethelBethel gesandt. Und ElisaElisa sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und deine SeeleSeele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und sie gingen nach BethelBethel hinab.2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
3 Da kamen die Söhne der ProphetenPropheten, die in BethelBethel waren, zu ElisaElisa heraus und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, dass der HERR heute deinen HerrnHerrn über deinem HauptHaupt wegnehmen wird? Und er sprach: Auch ich weiß es; schweigt!3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
4 Und EliaElia sprach zu ihm: ElisaElisa, bleibe doch hier; denn der HERR hat mich nach JerichoJericho gesandt. Aber er sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und deine SeeleSeele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und sie kamen nach JerichoJericho.4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 Da traten die Söhne der ProphetenPropheten, die in JerichoJericho waren, zu ElisaElisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, dass der HERR heute deinen HerrnHerrn über deinem HauptHaupt wegnehmen wird? Und er sprach: Auch ich weiß es; schweigt!5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
6 Und EliaElia sprach zu ihm: Bleibe doch hier; denn der HERR hat mich an den JordanJordan gesandt. Aber er sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und deine SeeleSeele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und so gingen sie beide miteinander.6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.
7 Und 50 MannMann von den Söhnen der ProphetenPropheten gingen hin und stellten sich gegenüber von ferne; und sie beide traten an den JordanJordan. 7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.1
8 Da nahm EliaElia seinen MantelMantel und wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug auf das Wasser; und es zerteilte sich dahin und dorthin, und sie gingen beide hinüber auf dem Trockenen. 8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9 Und es geschah, als sie hinübergegangen waren, da sprach EliaElia zu ElisaElisa: Begehre was ich dir tun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde. Und ElisaElisa sprach: So möge mir doch ein zweifaches Teil von deinem GeistGeist werden! 9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 Und er sprach: Du hast Schweres begehrt! Wenn du mich sehen wirst, wann ich von dir genommen werde, so soll dir so geschehen; wenn aber nicht, so wird es nicht geschehen. 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.2
11 Und es geschah, während sie gingen und im Gehen redeten, siehe da, ein WagenWagen von FeuerFeuer und PferdePferde von FeuerFeuer, die sie beide voneinander trennten; und EliaElia fuhr im SturmwindSturmwind auf zum HimmelHimmel.11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 Und ElisaElisa sah es und schrie: Mein VaterVater, mein VaterVater! WagenWagen IsraelsIsraels und seine Reiter! Und er sah ihn nicht mehr. Da fasste er seine KleiderKleider und zerriss sie in zwei Stücke.12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 Und er hob den MantelMantel des EliaElia auf, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und kehrte um und trat an das Ufer des JordanJordan.13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;3
14 Und er nahm den MantelMantel des EliaElia, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und schlug auf das Wasser und sprach: Wo ist der HERR, der GottGott des EliaElia? – Auch er schlug auf das Wasser, und es zerteilte sich dahin und dorthin; und ElisaElisa ging hinüber. 14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15 Als nun die Söhne der ProphetenPropheten, die gegenüber in JerichoJericho waren, ihn sahen, da sprachen sie: Der GeistGeist des EliaElia ruht auf ElisaElisa! Und sie kamen ihm entgegen und beugten sich vor ihm zur ErdeErde nieder,15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16 und sie sprachen zu ihm: Sieh doch, es sind bei deinen Knechten 50 tapfere Männer; mögen sie doch gehen und deinen HerrnHerrn suchen, ob nicht etwa der GeistGeist des HERRNHERRN ihn weggetragen und ihn auf einen der BergeBerge oder in eins der Täler geworfen hat. Aber er sprach: Sendet nicht.16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.45
17 Und sie drangen in ihn, bis er sich schämte. Da sprach er: Sendet! Und so sandten sie 50 MannMann; und sie suchten drei TageTage lang, aber sie fanden ihn nicht.17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18 Und sie kehrten zu ihm zurück (er hielt sich aber noch in JerichoJericho auf); und er sprach zu ihnen: Habe ich euch nicht gesagt: Geht nicht hin?18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
19 Und die Männer der Stadt sprachen zu ElisaElisa: Sieh doch, die Lage der Stadt ist gut, wie mein HerrHerr sieht, aber das Wasser ist schlecht, und das Land ist unfruchtbar1.19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.6
20 Da sprach er: Holt mir eine neue SchaleSchale und tut SalzSalz hinein! Und sie holten sie ihm.20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21 Und er ging hinaus zu der QuelleQuelle des Wassers und warf das SalzSalz hinein und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Ich habe dieses Wasser gesund gemacht; es wird weder TodTod noch Unfruchtbarkeit mehr daraus entstehen.21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22 Und das Wasser wurde gesund bis auf diesen TagTag, nach dem WortWort, das ElisaElisa geredet hatte.22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
23 Und er ging von dort hinauf nach BethelBethel; und als er auf dem Weg hinaufging, da kamen kleine Knaben aus der Stadt heraus und verspotteten ihn und sprachen zu ihm: Komm herauf2, Kahlkopf! Komm herauf3, Kahlkopf!23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24 Und er wandte sich um und sah sie an und fluchte ihnen im NamenNamen des HERRN. Da kamen zwei Bären aus dem WaldWald und zerrissen von ihnen 42 KinderKinder.24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
25 Und er ging von dort nach dem BergBerg KarmelKarmel; und von dort kehrte er nach SamariaSamaria zurück. 25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
