1 Josia1 war 8 JahreJahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte 31 JahreJahre in JerusalemJerusalem; und der Name seiner MutterMutter war JedidaJedida, die TochterTochter AdajasAdajas, von BozkatBozkat.1 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.
2 Und er tat, was recht war in den AugenAugen des HERRN; und er wandelte auf allen Wegen seines VatersVaters DavidDavid und wich nicht zur Rechten noch zur Linken. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
3 Und es geschah im 18. JahrJahr des Königs JosiaJosia, da sandte der König SchaphanSchaphan, den SohnSohn AzaljasAzaljas, des SohnesSohnes MeschullamsMeschullams, den Schreiber, in das HausHaus des HERRN und sprach:3 And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,
4 Geh hinauf zu HilkijaHilkija, dem Hohenpriester, dass er das GeldGeld zusammennehme, das in das HausHaus des HERRN gebracht worden ist, das die Hüter der Schwelle von dem Volk eingesammelt haben, 4 Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:1
5 damit man es in die Hand derer gebe, die das Werk betreiben, die am HausHaus des HERRN bestellt sind. Und sie sollen es denen geben, die das Werk tun im HausHaus des HERRN, um das Baufällige des Hauses auszubessern:5 And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,
6 den Zimmerleuten und den Bauleuten und den MaurernMaurern und um HolzHolz zu kaufen und behauene SteineSteine, um das HausHaus auszubessern.6 Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
7 Doch soll das GeldGeld, das in ihre Hand gegeben wird, nicht mit ihnen verrechnet werden; denn sie handeln getreulich. 7 Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them of the money that was delivered into their hand, because they dealt faithfully.
8 Und der HohepriesterHohepriester HilkijaHilkija sprach zu SchaphanSchaphan, dem Schreiber: Ich habe das BuchBuch des GesetzesGesetzes im HausHaus des HERRN gefunden. Und HilkijaHilkija gab das BuchBuch dem SchaphanSchaphan, und er las es.8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9 Und SchaphanSchaphan, der Schreiber, kam zum König und brachte dem König Nachricht und sprach: Deine KnechteKnechte haben das GeldGeld, das sich im HausHaus vorfand, ausgeschüttet und es in die Hand derer gegeben, die das Werk betreiben, die am HausHaus des HERRN bestellt sind.9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD.2
10 Und SchaphanSchaphan, der Schreiber, berichtete dem König und sprach: Der PriesterPriester HilkijaHilkija hat mir ein BuchBuch gegeben. Und SchaphanSchaphan las es vor dem König.10 And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11 Und es geschah, als der König die WorteWorte des BuchesBuches des GesetzesGesetzes hörte, da zerriss er seine KleiderKleider.11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
12 Und der König gebot HilkijaHilkija, dem PriesterPriester, und AchikamAchikam, dem SohnSohn SchaphansSchaphans, und AkborAkbor, dem SohnSohn MichajasMichajas, und SchaphanSchaphan, dem Schreiber, und AsajaAsaja, dem KnechtKnecht des Königs, und sprach:12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying,
13 Geht hin, befragt den HERRN für mich und für das Volk und für ganz JudaJuda wegen der WorteWorte dieses gefundenen BuchesBuches. Denn groß ist der Grimm des HERRN, der gegen uns entzündet ist, weil unsere VäterVäter auf die WorteWorte dieses BuchesBuches nicht gehört haben, um nach allem zu tun, was unsertwegen geschrieben ist2. 13 Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
14 Da gingen der PriesterPriester HilkijaHilkija und AchikamAchikam und AkborAkbor und SchaphanSchaphan und AsajaAsaja zu der Prophetin HuldaHulda, der FrauFrau SchallumsSchallums, des SohnesSohnes TikwasTikwas, des SohnesSohnes HarchasHarchas', des Hüters der KleiderKleider; sie wohnte aber in JerusalemJerusalem im zweiten Stadtteil; und sie redeten zu ihr. 14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.34
15 Und sie sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Sagt dem MannMann, der euch zu mir gesandt hat:15 And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,
16 So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will Unglück bringen über diesen Ort und über seine Bewohner: alle WorteWorte des BuchesBuches, das der König von JudaJuda gelesen hat.16 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:
17 Weil sie mich verlassen und anderen GötternGöttern geräuchert haben, um mich zu reizen mit all dem Machwerk ihrer Hände, so wird mein Grimm sich entzünden gegen diesen Ort und wird nicht erlöschen. 17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
18 Zu dem König von JudaJuda aber, der euch gesandt hat, um den HERRN zu befragen, zu ihm sollt ihr so sprechen: So spricht der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Die WorteWorte anlangend, die du gehört hast – 18 But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of the LORD, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
19 weil dein HerzHerz weich geworden ist und du dich vor dem HERRN gedemütigt hast, als du hörtest, was ich über3 diesen Ort und über4 seine Bewohner geredet habe, dass sie zur VerwüstungVerwüstung und zum FluchFluch werden sollen, und du deine KleiderKleider zerrissen und vor mir geweint hast, so habe ich es auch gehört, spricht der HERRERRN">5.19 Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.
20 Darum, siehe, werde ich dich zu deinen VäternVätern versammeln, und du wirst zu deinen Gräbern versammelt werden in Frieden; und deine AugenAugen sollen all das Unglück nicht ansehen, das ich über diesen Ort bringen werde. Und sie brachten dem König Antwort.20 Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
