1 Und der HERR sandte NathanNathan zu DavidDavid; und er kam zu ihm und sprach zu ihm: Zwei Männer waren in einer Stadt, der eine reich und der andere arm.1 And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
2 Der ReicheReiche hatte Kleinvieh und RinderRinder in großer Menge.2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
3 Der ArmeArme hatte aber gar nichts als nur ein einziges kleines LammLamm1, das er gekauft hatte; und er nährte es, und es wurde groß bei ihm und mit seinen KindernKindern zugleich; es aß von seinem Bissen und trank aus seinem BecherBecher und schlief an seiner BrustBrust, und es war ihm wie eine TochterTochter. 3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.1
4 Da kam ein Reisender zu dem reichen MannMann; und es dauerte ihn, von seinem Kleinvieh und von seinen RindernRindern zu nehmen, um es für den Wanderer zuzurichten, der zu ihm gekommen war. Und er nahm das LammLamm des armen MannesMannes und richtete es zu für den MannMann, der zu ihm gekommen war. 4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
5 Da entbrannte der ZornZorn DavidsDavids sehr gegen den MannMann, und er sprach zu NathanNathan: So wahr der HERR lebt, der MannMann, der dieses getan hat, ist ein Kind des TodesTodes;5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:2
6 und das LammLamm soll er vierfach erstatten, weil er diese Sache getan und weil er kein Mitleid gehabt hat!6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
7 Da sprach NathanNathan zu DavidDavid: Du bist der MannMann! So spricht der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Ich habe dich zum König über IsraelIsrael gesalbt, und ich habe dich aus der Hand SaulsSauls errettet,7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8 und ich habe dir das HausHaus deines HerrnHerrn gegeben und die Frauen deines HerrnHerrn in deinen SchoßSchoß, und habe dir das HausHaus IsraelIsrael und JudaJuda gegeben; und wenn es zu wenig war, so hätte ich dir noch dies und das hinzugefügt.8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.
9 Warum hast du das WortWort des HERRN verachtet, indem du tatest, was übel ist in seinen AugenAugen? UrijaUrija, den HethiterHethiter, hast du mit dem SchwertSchwert erschlagen, und seine FrauFrau hast du dir zur FrauFrau genommen; ihn selbst hast du ja umgebracht durch das SchwertSchwert der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon. 9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
10 Nun denn, so soll von deinem HausHaus das SchwertSchwert nicht weichen ewiglich, weil du mich verachtet und die FrauFrau UrijasUrijas, des HethitersHethiters, genommen hast, dass sie dir zur FrauFrau sei. 10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
11 So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will aus deinem HausHaus Unglück über dich erwecken, und ich will deine Frauen vor deinen AugenAugen nehmen und sie deinem Nächsten geben, dass er bei deinen Frauen liege vor den AugenAugen dieser SonneSonne!11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
12 Denn du, du hast es im Verborgenen getan; ich aber, ich werde dieses tun vor ganz IsraelIsrael und vor der SonneSonne! 12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
13 Da sprach DavidDavid zu NathanNathan: Ich habe gegen den HERRN gesündigt. Und NathanNathan sprach zu DavidDavid: So hat auch der HERR deine SündeSünde weggetan2, du wirst nicht sterben.13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
14 Nur weil du den Feinden des HERRN durch diese Sache Anlass zur LästerungLästerung gegeben hast, so soll auch der SohnSohn, der dir geboren ist, gewisslich sterben. 14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
15 Und NathanNathan ging nach seinem HausHaus.Und der HERR schlug das Kind, das die FrauFrau UrijasUrijas dem DavidDavid geboren hatte, und es wurde todkrank. 15 And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
16 Und DavidDavid suchte GottGott um des Knaben willen; und DavidDavid fastetefastete und ging hinein und lag über NachtNacht auf der ErdeErde.16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.3
17 Und die Ältesten seines Hauses machten sich zu ihm auf, um ihn von der ErdeErde aufzurichten; aber er wollte nicht und aß kein BrotBrot mit ihnen.17 And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
18 Und es geschah am siebten TagTag, da starb das Kind. Und die KnechteKnechte DavidsDavids fürchteten sich, ihm zu berichten, dass das Kind tot sei; denn sie sprachen: Siehe, als das Kind noch am LebenLeben war, haben wir zu ihm geredet, und er hat nicht auf unsere Stimme gehört; und wie sollen wir nun zu ihm sagen: Das Kind ist tot? Er würde etwas Übles tun3. 18 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?4
19 Und DavidDavid sah, dass seine KnechteKnechte sich zuflüsterten; da merkte DavidDavid, dass das Kind tot war; und DavidDavid sprach zu seinen Knechten: Ist das Kind tot? Und sie sprachen: Es ist tot.19 But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
20 Da stand DavidDavid von der ErdeErde auf und wusch und salbte sich und wechselte seine KleiderKleider und ging in das HausHaus des HERRN und betetebetete an; und er kam in sein HausHaus und forderte, dass man ihm Speise vorsetze, und er aß.20 Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.
21 Da sprachen seine KnechteKnechte zu ihm: Was ist das für ein Ding, das du tust? Als das Kind lebte, hast du um seinetwillen gefastetgefastet und geweint, und wie das Kind tot ist, stehst du auf und isst? 21 Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
22 Und er sprach: Als das Kind noch lebte, habe ich gefastetgefastet und geweint, weil ich dachte4: Wer weiß, ob der HERR mir nicht gnädig sein wird, dass das Kind am LebenLeben bleibt?22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
23 Nun es aber tot ist, warum sollte ich denn fastenfasten? Vermag ich es wieder zurückzubringen? Ich gehe zu ihm, aber es wird nicht zu mir zurückkehren.23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
24 Und DavidDavid tröstete BathsebaBathseba, seine FrauFrau, und ging zu ihr ein und lag bei ihr. Und sie gebar einen SohnSohn, und er gab ihm den NamenNamen Salomo5. Und der HERR liebte ihn.24 And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.
25 Und er sandte durch NathanNathan, den ProphetenPropheten, und gab ihm den NamenNamen Jedidjah6, um des HERRN willen.25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.5
26 Und7 JoabJoab kämpfte gegen RabbaRabba der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon, und er nahm die Königsstadt ein.26 And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27 Und JoabJoab sandte Boten zu DavidDavid und ließ ihm sagen: Ich habe gegen RabbaRabba gekämpft, habe auch die Wasserstadt8 eingenommen;27 And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.
28 und nun versammle das übrige Volk und belagere die Stadt und nimm sie ein, dass nicht ich die Stadt einnehme und sie nach meinem NamenNamen genannt werde.28 Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.6
29 Da versammelte DavidDavid alles Volk und zog nach RabbaRabba, und er kämpfte gegen dasselbe und nahm es ein.29 And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
30 Und er nahm die KroneKrone ihres Königs von seinem HauptHaupt; ihr Gewicht war 1 TalentTalent GoldGold, und Edelsteine waren daran; und sie kam auf das HauptHaupt DavidsDavids. Und die BeuteBeute der Stadt brachte er hinaus in großer Menge. 30 And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.7
31 Und das Volk, das darin war, führte er hinaus und legte es unter die SägeSäge und unter eiserne Dreschwagen und unter eiserne Beile9, und ließ sie durch einen Ziegelofen10 gehen. Und so tat er allen Städten der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon. Und DavidDavid und das ganze Volk kehrten nach JerusalemJerusalem zurück.31 And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
