1 Und der KampfKampf war lang zwischen dem HausHaus SaulsSauls und dem HausHaus DavidsDavids; DavidDavid aber wurde immerfort stärker, während das HausHaus SaulsSauls immerfort schwächer wurde.1 Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
2 Und es wurden dem DavidDavid Söhne in HebronHebron geboren: Sein ErstgeborenerErstgeborener war AmnonAmnon, von AchinoamAchinoam, der Jisreelitin;2 And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;
3 und sein zweiter KileabKileab, von AbigailAbigail, der FrauFrau NabalsNabals, des Karmeliters; und der dritte AbsalomAbsalom, der SohnSohn MaakasMaakas, der TochterTochter TalmaisTalmais, des Königs von GesurGesur;3 And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;1
4 und der vierte AdonijaAdonija, der SohnSohn HaggitsHaggits; und der fünfte SchephatjaSchephatja, der SohnSohn AbitalsAbitals;4 And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
5 und der sechste JithreamJithream, von EglaEgla, der FrauFrau DavidsDavids. Diese wurden dem DavidDavid in HebronHebron geboren.5 And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.
6 Und es geschah, während der KampfKampf war zwischen dem HausHaus SaulsSauls und dem HausHaus DavidsDavids, da stand AbnerAbner dem HausHaus SaulsSauls mutig bei1.6 And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.
7 Und SaulSaul hatte eine Nebenfrau, ihr Name war RizpaRizpa, die TochterTochter AjasAjas. Und IsbosethIsboseth sprach zu AbnerAbner: Warum bist du zu der Nebenfrau meines VatersVaters eingegangen?7 And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?
8 Da ergrimmte AbnerAbner sehr über die WorteWorte IsbosethsIsboseths und sprach: Bin ich ein Hundskopf, der es mit JudaJuda hält?2 Heute erweise ich Güte an dem HausHaus deines VatersVaters SaulSaul, an seinen BrüdernBrüdern und an seinen Freunden, und ich habe dich nicht in die Hand DavidsDavids überliefert; und du wirfst mir heute das Vergehen mit dieser FrauFrau vor?38 Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
9 So möge GottGott AbnerAbner tun und so ihm hinzufügen, wenn ich nicht, wie der HERR dem DavidDavid geschworen hat, ihm so tun werde:9 So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;
10 das Königtum von dem HausHaus SaulsSauls abzuwenden und den ThronThron DavidsDavids aufzurichten über IsraelIsrael und über JudaJuda, von DanDan bis BeersebaBeerseba! 10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.
11 Und er konnte AbnerAbner kein WortWort mehr erwidern, weil er ihn fürchtete.11 And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.
12 Und AbnerAbner sandte Boten für sich4 zu DavidDavid und sprach: Wessen ist das Land? Und er sprach: Mach einen5 BundBund mit mir; und siehe, meine Hand wird mit dir sein, um ganz IsraelIsrael dir zuzuwenden. 12 And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
13 Und David6 sprach: Gut, ich will einen BundBund mit dir machen; nur eine Sache fordere ich von dir, nämlich: Du sollst mein Angesicht nicht sehen, du bringst denn zuvor MichalMichal, die TochterTochter SaulsSauls, wenn du kommst, um mein Angesicht zu sehen. 13 And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.2
14 Und DavidDavid sandte Boten zu IsbosethIsboseth, dem SohnSohn SaulsSauls, und ließ ihm sagen: Gib mir MichalMichal, meine FrauFrau, die ich mir verlobt habe für 100 Vorhäute der PhilisterPhilister.14 And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
15 Da sandte IsbosethIsboseth hin und ließ sie holen von ihrem MannMann, von PaltielPaltiel, dem SohnSohn des LaisLais.15 And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.
16 Und ihr MannMann ging mit ihr und folgte ihr weinend nach bis BachurimBachurim. Da sprach AbnerAbner zu ihm: Geh, kehre um! Und er kehrte um.16 And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.3
17 Und AbnerAbner hatte sich mit den Ältesten IsraelsIsraels unterredet und gesagt: Früher schon habt ihr DavidDavid zum König über euch begehrt.17 And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:4
18 So handelt nun; denn der HERR hat von DavidDavid geredet und gesagt: Durch die Hand DavidsDavids, meines KnechtesKnechtes, will ich mein Volk IsraelIsrael erretten aus der Hand der PhilisterPhilister und aus der Hand aller seiner Feinde.18 Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.
19 Und AbnerAbner redete auch zu den Ohren BenjaminsBenjamins. Und AbnerAbner ging auch hin, um zu den Ohren DavidsDavids in HebronHebron alles zu reden, was gut war in den AugenAugen IsraelsIsraels und in den AugenAugen des ganzen Hauses BenjaminBenjamin.19 And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.
20 Als nun AbnerAbner, und 20 Männer mit ihm, zu DavidDavid nach HebronHebron kam, machte DavidDavid AbnerAbner und den Männern, die mit ihm waren, ein Mahl. 20 So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.
21 Und AbnerAbner sprach zu DavidDavid: Ich will mich aufmachen und hingehen und ganz IsraelIsrael zu meinem HerrnHerrn, dem König, versammeln, dass sie einen BundBund mit dir machen, und du über alles regierst, was deine SeeleSeele begehrt. Und DavidDavid entließ AbnerAbner, und er ging hin in Frieden. 21 And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.
22 Und siehe, die KnechteKnechte DavidsDavids und JoabJoab kamen von einem Streifzug und brachten große BeuteBeute mit sich. AbnerAbner war aber nicht mehr bei DavidDavid in HebronHebron; denn er hatte ihn entlassen, und er war hingegangen in Frieden.22 And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
23 Als nun JoabJoab und das ganze Heer, das mit ihm war, ankamen, da berichtete man JoabJoab und sprach: AbnerAbner, der SohnSohn NersNers, ist zum König gekommen; und er hat ihn entlassen, und er ist hingegangen in Frieden. 23 When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
24 Da kam JoabJoab zum König und sprach: Was hast du getan! Siehe, AbnerAbner ist zu dir gekommen; warum doch hast du ihn entlassen, dass er ungehindert weggegangen ist?24 Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
25 Du kennst AbnerAbner, den SohnSohn NersNers, dass er gekommen ist, um dich zu bereden7 und um deinen Ausgang und deinen Eingang zu wissen und alles zu wissen, was du tust.25 Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.
26 Und JoabJoab ging von DavidDavid hinaus und sandte Boten hinter AbnerAbner her; und sie holten ihn zurück von der ZisterneZisterne SiraSira; DavidDavid aber wusste es nicht.26 And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.
27 Als nun AbnerAbner nach HebronHebron zurückkam, führte ihn JoabJoab beiseite in das TorTor, um in der Stille mit ihm zu reden; und er schlug ihn dort in den Bauch, dass er starb – wegen des BlutesBlutes seines BrudersBruders AsaelAsael.27 And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.5
28 Und DavidDavid hörte es danach und sprach: SchuldlosSchuldlos bin ich und mein Königreich vor dem HERRN ewiglich an dem BlutBlut AbnersAbners, des SohnesSohnes NersNers! 28 And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:6
29 Es komme8 über das HauptHaupt JoabsJoabs und über das ganze HausHaus seines VatersVaters; und nie soll im HausHaus JoabsJoabs fehlen der Flüssige und der Aussätzige und der sich am Stab stützt und der durchs SchwertSchwert fällt und dem es an BrotBrot mangelt!29 Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.7
30 So haben JoabJoab und AbisaiAbisai, sein BruderBruder, AbnerAbner ermordet, weil er ihren BruderBruder AsaelAsael in GibeonGibeon im KampfKampf getötet hatte.30 So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
31 Und DavidDavid sprach zu JoabJoab und zu allem Volk, das mit ihm war: Zerreißt eure KleiderKleider und umgürtet euch mit SacktuchSacktuch, und klagt vor AbnerAbner her! Und der König DavidDavid ging hinter der BahreBahre her. 31 And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.8
32 Und sie begruben AbnerAbner in HebronHebron; und der König erhob seine Stimme und weinte am GrabGrab AbnersAbners, und das ganze Volk weinte.32 And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
33 Und der König stimmte ein Klagelied an über AbnerAbner und sprach:Musste, wie ein Tor9 stirbt, AbnerAbner sterben?33 And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?
34 Deine Hände waren nicht gebunden, und nicht in kupferne Fesseln10 gelegt deine Füße. Wie man fällt vor Söhnen der Ungerechtigkeit, so bist du gefallen!Da weinte alles Volk noch mehr über ihn. 34 Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.9
35 Und alles Volk kam, um DavidDavid zu bewegen, dass er BrotBrot esse, während es noch TagTag war. Aber DavidDavid schwur und sprach: So soll mir GottGott tun und so hinzufügen, wenn ich vor Untergang der SonneSonne BrotBrot oder irgend etwas koste! 35 And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
36 Und alles Volk nahm es wahr; und es war gut in ihren AugenAugen, wie alles, was der König tat, gut war in den AugenAugen des ganzen Volkes.36 And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.10
37 Und das ganze Volk und ganz IsraelIsrael erkannten an jenem TagTag, dass es nicht von dem König ausgegangen war, AbnerAbner, den SohnSohn NersNers, zu töten. 37 For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.
38 Und der König sprach zu seinen Knechten: Wisst ihr nicht, dass an diesem TagTag ein ObersterOberster und Großer in IsraelIsrael gefallen ist?38 And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
39 Ich aber bin heute schwach, obwohl zum König gesalbt; und diese Männer, die Söhne der ZerujaZeruja, sind zu hart für mich. Der HERR vergelte dem, der das Böse tut, nach seiner Bosheit!39 And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.11
