1 Und AhitophelAhitophel sprach zu AbsalomAbsalom: Lass mich doch 12000 MannMann auslesen und mich aufmachen und diese NachtNacht DavidDavid nachjagen; 1 Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:
2 und ich werde über ihn kommen, während er müde und an Händen schlaff ist, und ihn in Schrecken setzen; und alles Volk, das bei ihm ist, wird fliehen, und ich werde den König allein schlagen;2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:
3 und so werde ich alles Volk zu dir zurückbringen. Gleich der Rückkehr aller ist der MannMann, den du suchst: Das ganze Volk wird in Frieden sein.3 And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.
4 Und das WortWort war recht in den AugenAugen AbsalomsAbsaloms und in den AugenAugen aller Ältesten von IsraelIsrael.4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.1
5 Und AbsalomAbsalom sprach: RufeRufe doch auch HusaiHusai, den ArkiterArkiter, dass wir hören, was auch er sagt.5 Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.2
6 Und HusaiHusai kam zu AbsalomAbsalom; und AbsalomAbsalom sprach zu ihm und sagte: Nach diesem WortWort hat AhitophelAhitophel geredet. Sollen wir sein WortWort ausführen? Wenn nicht, so rede du!6 And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.3
7 Da sprach HusaiHusai zu AbsalomAbsalom: Nicht gut ist der RatRat, den AhitophelAhitophel diesmal gegeben hat.7 And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.4
8 Und HusaiHusai sprach: Du kennst ja deinen VaterVater und seine Männer, dass sie Helden und dass sie erbitterten Gemütes sind, wie eine der Jungen beraubte Bärin auf dem Feld; und dein VaterVater ist ein KriegsmannKriegsmann: er wird nicht bei dem Volk übernachten.8 For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.5
9 Siehe, er hat sich jetzt in irgendeiner Schlucht oder sonst an einem Ort versteckt. Und es wird geschehen, wenn zu AnfangAnfang einige unter ihnen fallen, so wird jeder, der es hört, sagen: Es hat eine Niederlage unter dem Volk stattgefunden, das AbsalomAbsalom nachfolgt!9 Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.6
10 Und ist er auch ein tapferer MannMann, dessen HerzHerz wie ein Löwenherz ist, so wird er sicher verzagen; denn ganz IsraelIsrael weiß, dass dein VaterVater ein HeldHeld ist, und die bei ihm sind tapfere Männer. 10 And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.
11 Sondern ich rate: Es werde ganz IsraelIsrael insgesamt zu dir versammelt, von DanDan bis BeersebaBeerseba, wie der Sand, der am MeerMeer ist, an Menge; und deine Person1 ziehe mit ins Treffen. 11 Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.7
12 Und wir werden über ihn kommen an einem der Orte, wo er sich befindet, und uns auf ihn niederlassen, wie der TauTau auf den Erdboden fällt; und es wird von ihm und von all den Männern, die bei ihm sind, auch nicht einer übrigbleiben. 12 So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.
13 Und wenn er sich in eine Stadt zurückzieht, so soll ganz IsraelIsrael Seile an jene Stadt legen, und wir schleppen sie an den Fluss2, bis dort auch nicht ein Steinchen mehr gefunden wird.13 Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
14 Und AbsalomAbsalom und alle Männer von IsraelIsrael sprachen: Der RatRat HusaisHusais, des ArkitersArkiters, ist besser als der RatRat AhitophelsAhitophels. Aber3 der HERR hatte es so angeordnet, um den guten RatRat AhitophelsAhitophels zunichte zu machen, damit der HERR das Unglück über AbsalomAbsalom brächte. 14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.8
15 Und HusaiHusai sprach zu ZadokZadok und zu AbjatharAbjathar, den PriesternPriestern: So und so hat AhitophelAhitophel dem AbsalomAbsalom und den Ältesten von IsraelIsrael geraten, und so und so habe ich geraten.15 Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.
16 So sendet nun schnell hin und berichtet DavidDavid und sprecht: Übernachte nicht diese NachtNacht in den Ebenen der WüsteWüste, sondern geh jedenfalls hinüber, damit nicht der König und alles Volk, das bei ihm ist, verschlungen werde.16 Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.
17 JonathanJonathan aber und Achimaaz4 standen bei En-Rogel5 (eine MagdMagd ging nämlich hin und berichtete ihnen, und sie gingen hin und berichteten dem König DavidDavid; denn sie durften sich nicht sehen lassen, indem sie in die Stadt kamen6).17 Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by Enrogel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.
18 Und ein Knabe sah sie und berichtete es AbsalomAbsalom. Da gingen sie beide schnell und kamen in das HausHaus eines MannesMannes in BachurimBachurim; der hatte einen BrunnenBrunnen in seinem Hof, und sie stiegen dort hinab.18 Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man's house in Bahurim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.
19 Und die FrauFrau nahm eine DeckeDecke und breitete sie über den BrunnenBrunnen und streute Grütze darüber aus, so dass nichts bemerkt wurde. 19 And the woman took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.
20 Und die KnechteKnechte AbsalomsAbsaloms kamen zu der FrauFrau ins HausHaus und sprachen: Wo sind AchimaazAchimaaz und JonathanJonathan? Und die FrauFrau sprach zu ihnen: Sie sind über den Wasserbach gegangen. Und sie suchten, aber sie fanden sie nicht, und kehrten nach JerusalemJerusalem zurück.20 And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 Und es geschah, nachdem sie weggegangen waren, da stiegen sie aus dem BrunnenBrunnen herauf und gingen hin und berichteten dem König DavidDavid; und sie sprachen zu DavidDavid: MachtMacht euch auf und geht schnell über das Wasser, denn so hat AhitophelAhitophel gegen euch geraten.21 And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counselled against you.
22 Da machte DavidDavid sich auf und alles Volk, das bei ihm war, und sie gingen über den JordanJordan; bis der MorgenMorgen hell wurde, wurde auch nicht einer vermisst, der nicht über den JordanJordan gegangen wäre.22 Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.
23 Als aber AhitophelAhitophel sah, dass sein RatRat nicht ausgeführt worden war, sattelte er den EselEsel und machte sich auf und zog nach seinem HausHaus, nach seiner Stadt; und er bestellte sein HausHaus und erdrosselte sich; und er starb und wurde begraben im BegräbnisBegräbnis seines VatersVaters. 23 And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.910
24 Und DavidDavid kam nach MachanaimMachanaim; und AbsalomAbsalom ging über den JordanJordan, er und alle Männer von IsraelIsrael mit ihm.24 Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 Und AbsalomAbsalom setzte AmasaAmasa an JoabsJoabs statt über das Heer. AmasaAmasa war aber der SohnSohn eines MannesMannes, dessen Name JitraJitra war, der Israelit7, der zu AbigailAbigail eingegangen war, der TochterTochter des NahasNahas, der Schwester der ZerujaZeruja, der MutterMutter JoabsJoabs.25 And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother.
26 Und IsraelIsrael und AbsalomAbsalom lagerten sich im Land GileadGilead.26 So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.
27 Und es geschah, als DavidDavid nach MachanaimMachanaim kam, da brachten SchobiSchobi, der SohnSohn des NahasNahas, aus RabbaRabba der KinderKinder AmmonAmmon, und MakirMakir, der SohnSohn AmmielsAmmiels, aus LodebarLodebar, und BarsillaiBarsillai, der GileaditerGileaditer, aus RogelimRogelim,27 And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
28 Betten und BeckenBecken und Töpfergefäße und WeizenWeizen und GersteGerste und MehlMehl und geröstete Körner und BohnenBohnen und LinsenLinsen und Geröstetes8 davon,28 Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentiles, and parched pulse,11
29 und HonigHonig und geronnene MilchMilch und Kleinvieh und Kuhkäse zu DavidDavid und zu dem Volk, das bei ihm war, dass sie äßen; denn sie sprachen: Das Volk ist hungrig und matt und durstig in der WüsteWüste. 29 And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
