1 Und es geschah, als Adoni-ZedekAdoni-Zedek, der König von JerusalemJerusalem, hörte, dass JosuaJosua AiAi eingenommen und vertilgt habe, dass er AiAi und seinem König ebenso getan, wie er JerichoJericho und seinem König getan hatte, und dass die Bewohner von GibeonGibeon Frieden mit IsraelIsrael gemacht hätten und in ihrer Mitte wären:1 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
2 da fürchteten sie sich sehr; denn GibeonGibeon war eine große Stadt, wie eine der Königsstädte, und es war größer als AiAi, und alle seine Männer waren Helden.2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.1
3 Und Adoni-ZedekAdoni-Zedek, der König von JerusalemJerusalem, sandte zu HohamHoham, dem König von HebronHebron, und zu PireamPiream, dem König von JarmutJarmut, und zu JaphijaJaphija, dem König von LachisLachis, und zu DebirDebir, dem König von EglonEglon, und ließ ihnen sagen:3 Wherefore Adonizedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Kommt zu mir herauf und helft mir, dass wir GibeonGibeon schlagen; denn es hat mit JosuaJosua und mit den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael Frieden gemacht!4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5 Da versammelten sich und zogen herauf die fünf KönigeKönige der AmoriterAmoriter: Der König von JerusalemJerusalem, der König von HebronHebron, der König von JarmutJarmut, der König von LachisLachis, der König von EglonEglon, sie und alle ihre Heerlager; und sie lagerten sich gegen GibeonGibeon und kämpften gegen dasselbe.5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 Und die Männer von GibeonGibeon sandten zu JosuaJosua in das LagerLager nach GilgalGilgal und ließen ihm sagen: Zieh deine Hände nicht ab von deinen Knechten; komm schnell zu uns herauf und rette uns und hilf uns; denn alle KönigeKönige der AmoriterAmoriter, die das GebirgeGebirge bewohnen, haben sich gegen uns versammelt.6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
7 Und JosuaJosua zog von GilgalGilgal hinauf, er und alles Kriegsvolk mit ihm und alle kampfbereiten Männer. 7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.
8 Und der HERR sprach zu JosuaJosua: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, denn ich habe sie in deine Hand gegeben; kein MannMann von ihnen wird vor dir standhalten.8 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
9 Und JosuaJosua kam plötzlich über sie; die ganze NachtNacht zog er von GilgalGilgal hinauf.9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.
10 Und der HERR verwirrte sie vor IsraelIsrael; und er richtete eine große Niederlage unter ihnen an1 in GibeonGibeon und jagte ihnen nach auf dem Weg der Anhöhe von Beth-HoronBeth-Horon und schlug sie bis AsekaAseka und bis MakkedaMakkeda.10 And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
11 Und es geschah, als sie vor IsraelIsrael flohen, – sie stiegen hinunter2 von Beth-HoronBeth-Horon – da warf der HERR große SteineSteine vom HimmelHimmel auf sie herab, bis AsekaAseka, dass sie starben. Es waren derer, die durch die Hagelsteine starben, mehr als derer, die die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael mit dem SchwertSchwert töteten. 11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
12 Damals redete JosuaJosua zu dem HERRN, an dem TagTag, da der HERR die AmoriterAmoriter vor den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael dahingab, und sprach vor den AugenAugen IsraelsIsraels: SonneSonne, steh still in GibeonGibeon; und du, MondMond, im TalTal AjjalonAjjalon!12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.2
13 Und die SonneSonne stand still, und der MondMond blieb stehen, bis die Nation sich an ihren Feinden gerächt hatte. (Ist das nicht geschrieben im BuchBuch Jaschar3?) Und die SonneSonne blieb mitten am HimmelHimmel stehen und eilte nicht zum Untergang, ungefähr einen ganzen TagTag.13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.3
14 Und es war kein TagTag wie dieser, vor ihm und nach ihm, dass der HERR auf die Stimme eines Menschen gehört hätte; denn der HERR kämpfte für IsraelIsrael.14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.
15 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, kehrte in das LagerLager nach GilgalGilgal zurück.15 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
16 Jene fünf KönigeKönige aber flohen und versteckten sich in der Höhle bei MakkedaMakkeda.16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.
17 Und es wurde JosuaJosua berichtet und gesagt: Die fünf KönigeKönige sind gefunden worden, versteckt in der Höhle bei MakkedaMakkeda.17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.
18 Und JosuaJosua sprach: Wälzt große SteineSteine an die Mündung der Höhle und bestellt Männer über dieselbe, um sie zu bewachen. 18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
19 Ihr aber, steht nicht still, jagt euren Feinden nach und schlagt ihren Nachtrab; lasst sie nicht in ihre Städte kommen, denn der HERR, euer GottGott, hat sie in eure Hand gegeben! 19 And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand.4
20 Und es geschah, als JosuaJosua und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael geendigt hatten, eine sehr große Niederlage unter ihnen anzurichten, bis sie aufgerieben waren, (die Entkommenen von ihnen entkamen aber und kamen in die festen Städte)20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.
21 da kehrte das ganze Volk in Frieden zu JosuaJosua zurück, in das LagerLager nach MakkedaMakkeda; niemand spitzte seine Zunge gegen die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael.21 And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22 Und JosuaJosua sprach: Öffnet die Mündung der Höhle und bringt diese fünf KönigeKönige aus der Höhle zu mir heraus! 22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.
23 Und sie taten so und brachten diese fünf KönigeKönige aus der Höhle zu ihm heraus: den König von JerusalemJerusalem, den König von HebronHebron, den König von JarmutJarmut, den König von LachisLachis, den König von EglonEglon.23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24 Und es geschah, als sie diese KönigeKönige zu JosuaJosua herausgebracht hatten, da rief JosuaJosua alle Männer von IsraelIsrael und sprach zu den Anführern der Kriegsleute, die mit ihm gezogen waren: Tretet herzu, setzt eure Füße auf die Hälse dieser KönigeKönige! Und sie traten herzu und setzten ihre Füße auf ihre Hälse.24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
25 Und JosuaJosua sprach zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht und erschreckt nicht, seid stark und mutig! Denn so wird der HERR allen euren Feinden tun, gegen die ihr kämpft.25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
26 Und danach erschlug JosuaJosua sie und tötete sie und hängte sie an fünf Bäume4; und sie hingen an den Bäumen bis zum AbendAbend.26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.
27 Und es geschah zur ZeitZeit des SonnenuntergangsSonnenuntergangs, da gebot JosuaJosua, und man nahm sie von den Bäumen herab und warf sie in die Höhle, wo sie sich versteckt hatten; und man legte große SteineSteine an die Mündung der Höhle, die bis auf genau diesen TagTag da sind. 27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.
28 Und JosuaJosua nahm an jenem TagTag MakkedaMakkeda ein und schlug es mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes; und seinen König, die Stadt5 und alle Seelen, die darin waren, verbannte er: er ließ keinen Entkommenen übrig; und er tat dem König von MakkedaMakkeda, so wie er dem König von JerichoJericho getan hatte.28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.
29 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, zog von MakkedaMakkeda nach LibnaLibna und kämpfte gegen LibnaLibna.29 Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:
30 Und der HERR gab es auch in die Hand IsraelsIsraels, samt seinem König; und er schlug es mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes und alle Seelen, die darin waren: er ließ keinen Entkommenen darin übrig; und er tat seinem König, so wie er dem König von JerichoJericho getan hatte. 30 And the LORD delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.
31 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, zog von LibnaLibna nach LachisLachis; und er belagerte es und kämpfte gegen dasselbe.31 And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:
32 Und der HERR gab LachisLachis in die Hand IsraelsIsraels; und er nahm es am zweiten TagTag ein, und schlug es mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes und alle Seelen, die darin waren, nach allem, was er LibnaLibna getan hatte.32 And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Damals zog HoramHoram, der König von GeserGeser, herauf, um LachisLachis zu helfen; aber JosuaJosua schlug ihn und sein Volk, bis ihm kein Entkommener übrigblieb. 33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, zog von LachisLachis nach EglonEglon; und sie belagerten es und kämpften gegen dasselbe.34 And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:
35 Und sie nahmen es an demselben TagTag ein und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes; und alle Seelen, die darin waren, verbannte er an demselben TagTag, nach allem, was er LachisLachis getan hatte. 35 And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, zog von EglonEglon nach HebronHebron hinauf, und sie kämpften gegen dasselbe.36 And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:
37 Und sie nahmen es ein und schlugen es mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes, samt seinem König und allen seinen Städten und allen Seelen, die darin waren: er ließ keinen Entkommenen übrig, nach allem, was er EglonEglon getan hatte; und er verbannte es und alle Seelen, die darin waren.37 And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.
38 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, wandte sich nach DebirDebir und kämpfte gegen dasselbe.38 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:
39 Und er nahm es ein, samt seinem König und allen seinen Städten, und sie schlugen sie mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes und verbannten alle Seelen, die darin waren: Er ließ keinen Entkommenen übrig; wie er HebronHebron getan, und wie er LibnaLibna und seinem König getan hatte, so tat er DebirDebir und seinem König.39 And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.
40 Und JosuaJosua schlug das ganze Land, das GebirgeGebirge und den SüdenSüden und die Niederung und die Abhänge und alle ihre KönigeKönige: Er ließ keinen Entkommenen übrig; und alles, was Odem hatte verbannte er, so wie der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, geboten hatte.40 So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.
41 Und JosuaJosua schlug sie von Kades-BarneaKades-Barnea bis GazaGaza, und das ganze Land GosenGosen bis GibeonGibeon.41 And Joshua smote them from Kadeshbarnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.
42 Und alle diese KönigeKönige und ihr Land nahm JosuaJosua auf einmal; denn der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels, kämpfte für IsraelIsrael.42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
43 Und JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, kehrte in das LagerLager nach GilgalGilgal zurück.43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
