1 Und JerichoJericho hatte seine ToreTore geschlossen und war verriegelt vor den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael; niemand ging aus, und niemand ging ein.1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.1
2 Und der HERR sprach zu JosuaJosua: Siehe, ich habe JerichoJericho und seinen König und die kampfbereiten Männer in deine Hand gegeben. 2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
3 Und ihr sollt die Stadt umziehen, alle Kriegsleute, einmal rings um die Stadt her; so sollst du sechs TageTage tun.3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4 Und sieben PriesterPriester sollen sieben Hall1-PosaunenPosaunen vor der LadeLade hertragen. Und am siebten TagTag sollt ihr die Stadt siebenmal umziehen, und die PriesterPriester sollen in die PosaunenPosaunen stoßen.4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5 Und es soll geschehen, wenn man das Lärmhorn2 anhaltend bläst, wenn ihr den Schall der Posaune hört, so soll das ganze Volk ein großes Geschrei3 erheben; und die Mauer der Stadt wird an ihrer Stelle einstürzen, und das Volk soll hinaufsteigen, jeder gerade vor sich hin.5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.2
6 Und JosuaJosua, der SohnSohn Nuns, rief die PriesterPriester und sprach zu ihnen: Nehmt die LadeLade des BundesBundes auf, und sieben PriesterPriester sollen sieben Hall-Posaunen vor der LadeLade des HERRN hertragen.6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.
7 Und er sprach zu dem Volk: Geht hin und umzieht die Stadt; und die Gerüsteten sollen vor der LadeLade des HERRN hergehen. 7 And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.
8 Und es geschah, als JosuaJosua zu dem Volk geredet hatte, da zogen die sieben PriesterPriester hin, die die sieben Hall-PosaunenPosaunen vor dem HERRN hertrugen, und stießen in die PosaunenPosaunen; und die LadeLade des BundesBundes des HERRN folgte hinter ihnen. 8 And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.
9 Und die Gerüsteten zogen vor den PriesternPriestern her, die in die PosaunenPosaunen stießen, und der Nachzug ging hinter der LadeLade her, indem sie4 fort und fort in die PosaunenPosaunen stießen. 9 And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.3
10 Und JosuaJosua hatte dem Volk geboten und gesagt: Ihr sollt kein Geschrei erheben und eure Stimme nicht hören lassen, und kein WortWort soll aus eurem Mund gehen; bis zu dem TagTag, da ich zu euch sage: Erhebt ein Geschrei! Dann sollt ihr ein Geschrei erheben.10 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.4
11 Und die LadeLade des HERRN umzog die Stadt, einmal rings um sie her; und sie kamen in das LagerLager und übernachteten im LagerLager.11 So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
12 Und JosuaJosua machte sich frühmorgens auf, und die PriesterPriester trugen die LadeLade des HERRN.12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.
13 Und die sieben PriesterPriester, die die sieben Hall-PosaunenPosaunen vor der LadeLade des HERRN hertrugen, gingen fort und fort und stießen in die PosaunenPosaunen; und die Gerüsteten zogen vor ihnen her, und der Nachzug ging hinter der LadeLade des HERRN her, indem sie5 fort und fort in die PosaunenPosaunen stießen. 13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
14 Und sie umzogen die Stadt am zweiten TagTag einmal und kehrten in das LagerLager zurück. So taten sie sechs TageTage.14 And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.
15 Und es geschah am siebten TagTag, da machten sie sich früh auf, beim AufgangAufgang der MorgenröteMorgenröte, und umzogen die Stadt nach dieser WeiseWeise siebenmal; nur an diesem TagTag umzogen sie die Stadt siebenmal.15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.
16 Und es geschah beim siebten Mal, als die PriesterPriester in die PosaunenPosaunen stießen, da sprach JosuaJosua zu dem Volk: Erhebt ein Geschrei! Denn der HERR hat euch die Stadt gegeben. 16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.
17 Und die Stadt, sie und alles, was darin ist, soll dem HERRN ein Bann6 sein; nur RahabRahab, die HureHure, soll am LebenLeben bleiben, sie und alle, die bei ihr im HausHaus sind, weil sie die Boten versteckt hat, die wir ausgesandt haben.17 And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.5
18 Ihr aber, hütet euch nur vor dem Verbannten, damit ihr nicht verbannt und doch von dem Verbannten nehmt und das LagerLager IsraelsIsraels zum Bann macht und es in TrübsalTrübsal bringt. 18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.67
19 Und alles SilberSilber und GoldGold, samt den kupfernen und eisernen Geräten, soll dem HERRN heilig sein: In den SchatzSchatz des HERRN soll es kommen.19 But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.8
20 Und das Volk erhob ein Geschrei, und sie stießen in die PosaunenPosaunen. Und es geschah, als das Volk den Schall der PosaunenPosaunen hörte, und als das Volk ein großes Geschrei erhob, da stürzte die Mauer an ihrer Stelle ein, und das Volk stieg in die Stadt hinein, jeder gerade vor sich hin, und sie nahmen die Stadt ein.20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.9
21 Und sie verbannten alles, was in der Stadt war, vom MannMann bis zur FrauFrau, vom Knaben bis zum Greis, und bis zu den RindernRindern und Schafen7 und Eseln, mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes. 21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
22 Und JosuaJosua sprach zu den beiden Männern, die das Land ausgekundschaftet hatten: Geht in das HausHaus der HureHure, und führt die FrauFrau und alle ihre Angehörigen von dort heraus, wie ihr es ihr geschworen habt.22 But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.
23 Da gingen die Jünglinge, die KundschafterKundschafter, hinein und führten RahabRahab und ihren VaterVater und ihre MutterMutter und ihre BrüderBrüder und alle ihre Angehörigen hinaus: Alle ihre GeschlechterGeschlechter führten sie hinaus; und sie ließen sie außerhalb des LagersLagers IsraelsIsraels. 23 And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.10
24 Und die Stadt und alles, was darin war, verbrannten sie mit FeuerFeuer; nur das SilberSilber und das GoldGold und die kupfernen und die eisernen Geräte legten sie in den SchatzSchatz des Hauses des HERRN.24 And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.
25 So ließ JosuaJosua RahabRahab, die HureHure, und das HausHaus ihres VatersVaters und alle ihre Angehörigen am LebenLeben; und sie hat in der Mitte IsraelsIsraels gewohnt bis auf diesen TagTag, weil sie die Boten versteckte, die JosuaJosua abgesandt hatte, um JerichoJericho auszukundschaften.25 And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26 Und JosuaJosua schwur8 in jener ZeitZeit und sprach: Verflucht vor dem HERRN sei der MannMann, der sich aufmachen und diese Stadt JerichoJericho bauen wird! Mit seinem9 Erstgeborenen wird er ihren Grund legen, und mit seinem10 Jüngsten ihre ToreTore aufstellen.1126 And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
27 Und der HERR war mit JosuaJosua, und sein RufRuf verbreitete sich durch das ganze Land.27 So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.
