1 Und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael begingen Untreue an dem Verbannten; und AchanAchan, der SohnSohn KarmisKarmis, des SohnesSohnes SabdisSabdis, des SohnesSohnes SerachsSerachs, vom Stamm JudaJuda, nahm von dem Verbannten; und der ZornZorn des HERRN entbrannte gegen die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael.1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.
2 Und JosuaJosua sandte Männer von JerichoJericho nach AiAi, das bei Beth-AwenBeth-Awen, östlich von BethelBethel, liegt, und sprach zu ihnen und sagte: Geht hinauf und kundschaftet das Land aus. Und die Männer gingen hinauf und kundschafteten AiAi aus.2 And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.
3 Und sie kehrten zu JosuaJosua zurück und sprachen zu ihm: Es ziehe nicht das ganze Volk hinauf; etwa 2000 MannMann oder etwa 3000 MannMann mögen hinaufziehen und AiAi schlagen; bemühe nicht das ganze Volk dahin, denn ihrer sind wenige. 3 And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.1
4 Da zogen von dem Volk etwa 3000 MannMann dort hinauf; aber sie flohen vor den Männern von AiAi; 4 So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.
5 und die Männer von AiAi erschlugen von ihnen etwa 36 MannMann, und sie jagten ihnen nach vor dem TorTor bis SchebarimSchebarim und schlugen sie am Abhang. Da zerschmolz das HerzHerz des Volkes und wurde wie Wasser.5 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.2
6 Und JosuaJosua zerriss seine KleiderKleider und fiel vor der LadeLade des HERRN auf sein Angesicht zur ErdeErde bis an den AbendAbend, er und die Ältesten von IsraelIsrael, und sie warfen StaubStaub auf ihre Häupter.6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
7 Und JosuaJosua sprach: Ach, HerrHerr, HERRHERR! Warum hast du denn dieses Volk über den JordanJordan ziehen lassen, um uns in die Hand der AmoriterAmoriter zu geben, uns zugrunde zu richten? O hätten wir es uns doch gefallen lassen und wären jenseits des JordanJordan geblieben!7 And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!
8 Bitte, HerrHerr, was soll ich sagen, nachdem IsraelIsrael vor seinen Feinden den Rücken gekehrt hat?8 O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!3
9 Und hören es die KanaaniterKanaaniter und alle Bewohner des Landes, so werden sie uns umzingeln und unseren NamenNamen von der ErdeErde ausrotten; und was wirst du für deinen großen NamenNamen tun?9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?
10 Da sprach der HERR zu JosuaJosua: Steh auf! Warum liegst du denn auf deinem Angesicht?10 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?4
11 IsraelIsrael hat gesündigt, und auch haben sie meinen BundBund übertreten, den ich ihnen geboten habe und auch haben sie von dem Verbannten genommen und auch gestohlen und es auch verheimlicht und es auch unter ihre Geräte gelegt!11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
12 Und die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael werden vor ihren Feinden nicht zu bestehen vermögen; sie werden vor ihren Feinden den Rücken kehren, denn sie sind zum Bann geworden. Ich werde nicht mehr mit euch sein, wenn ihr nicht den Bann aus eurer Mitte vertilgt.12 Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.
13 Steh auf, heilige das Volk und sprich: Heiligt euch auf morgen; denn so spricht der HERR, der GottGott IsraelsIsraels: Ein Bann ist in deiner Mitte, IsraelIsrael; du wirst vor deinen Feinden nicht zu bestehen vermögen, bis ihr den Bann aus eurer Mitte wegtut.13 Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
14 Und ihr sollt am MorgenMorgen herzutreten nach euren Stämmen; und es soll geschehen: Der Stamm, den der HERR treffen1 wird, soll herzutreten nach den GeschlechternGeschlechtern; und das GeschlechtGeschlecht, das der HERR treffen wird, soll herzutreten nach den Häusern; und das HausHaus, das der HERR treffen wird, soll herzutreten nach den Männern. 14 In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.
15 Und es soll geschehen: wer mit dem Bann getroffen wird, der soll mit FeuerFeuer verbrannt werden, er und alles, was er hat; denn er hat den BundBund des HERRN übertreten und eine Schandtat in IsraelIsrael begangen.15 And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.5
16 Und JosuaJosua machte sich frühmorgens auf und ließ IsraelIsrael herzutreten nach seinen Stämmen; und es wurde getroffen der Stamm JudaJuda.16 So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:
17 Und er ließ die GeschlechterGeschlechter JudasJudas herzutreten; und er traf das GeschlechtGeschlecht der SarchiterSarchiter. Und er ließ das GeschlechtGeschlecht der SarchiterSarchiter herzutreten nach den Männern; und es wurde getroffen SabdiSabdi. 17 And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:
18 Und er ließ sein HausHaus herzutreten nach den Männern; und es wurde getroffen AchanAchan, der SohnSohn KarmisKarmis, des SohnesSohnes SabdisSabdis, des SohnesSohnes SerachsSerachs, vom Stamm JudaJuda.18 And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.
19 Und JosuaJosua sprach zu AchanAchan: Mein SohnSohn, gib doch dem HERRN, dem GottGott IsraelsIsraels, Ehre und lege ihm ein BekenntnisBekenntnis ab; und teile mir doch mit, was du getan hast, verheimliche es mir nicht!19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.
20 Und AchanAchan antwortete JosuaJosua und sprach: Ich habe tatsächlich gegen den HERRN, den GottGott IsraelsIsraels, gesündigt, und so und so habe ich getan: 20 And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:
21 Ich sah unter der BeuteBeute einen schönen MantelMantel aus SinearSinear und 200 SekelSekel SilberSilber und eine goldene StangeStange, 50 SekelSekel ihr Gewicht, und mich gelüstetegelüstete danach, und ich nahm sie; und siehe, sie sind im Innern meines ZeltesZeltes in der ErdeErde vergraben, und das SilberSilber darunter2.21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.6
22 Und JosuaJosua sandte Boten hin, und sie liefen zum ZeltZelt; und siehe, er3 war in seinem ZeltZelt vergraben, und das SilberSilber darunter.22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
23 Und sie nahmen es aus dem Innern des ZeltesZeltes und brachten es zu JosuaJosua und zu allen KindernKindern IsraelIsrael, und sie legten es vor dem HERRN hin.23 And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.7
24 Da nahm JosuaJosua, und ganz IsraelIsrael mit ihm, AchanAchan, den SohnSohn SerachsSerachs, und das SilberSilber und den MantelMantel und die goldene StangeStange und seine Söhne und seine Töchter und seine RinderRinder und seine EselEsel und sein Kleinvieh und sein ZeltZelt und alles, was er hatte, und sie brachten sie hinauf in das TalTal AchorAchor.24 And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.
25 Und JosuaJosua sprach: Wie hast du uns in TrübsalTrübsal gebracht! Der HERR wird dich in TrübsalTrübsal bringen an diesem TagTag! Und ganz IsraelIsrael steinigte ihn, und sie verbrannten sie mit FeuerFeuer und bewarfen sie mit Steinen;25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
26 und sie errichteten einen großen Steinhaufen über ihm, der bis auf diesen TagTag da ist. Und der HERR wandte sich von der Glut seines ZornsZorns. Darum gab man jenem Ort den NamenNamen TalTal Achor4 bis auf diesen TagTag.26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.8
