1 Und die ganze GemeindeGemeinde der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael brach auf aus der WüsteWüste SinSin, nach ihren Zügen1, nach dem Befehl des HERRN; und sie lagerten sich in RephidimRephidim; und da war kein Wasser zum Trinken für das Volk.1 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Und das Volk haderte mit MoseMose, und sie sprachen: Gebt uns Wasser, dass wir trinken! Und MoseMose sprach zu ihnen: Was hadert ihr mit mir? Was versucht ihr den HERRN?2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
3 Und das Volk dürstete dort nach Wasser, und das Volk murrte gegen MoseMose und sprach: Warum doch hast du uns aus Ägypten heraufgeführt, um mich und meine KinderKinder und mein ViehVieh vor Durst sterben zu lassen?3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4 Da schrie MoseMose zu dem HERRN und sprach: Was soll ich mit diesem Volk tun? Noch ein wenig, und sie steinigen mich.4 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5 Und der HERR sprach zu MoseMose: Geh hin vor dem Volk, und nimm mit dir von den Ältesten IsraelsIsraels; und deinen Stab, womit du den Strom geschlagen hast, nimm in deine Hand und geh hin. 5 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6 Siehe, ich will dort vor dir stehen auf dem Felsen am HorebHoreb; und du sollst auf den Felsen schlagen, und es wird Wasser aus demselben herauskommen, dass das Volk trinke. Und MoseMose tat so vor den AugenAugen der Ältesten IsraelsIsraels. 6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 Und er gab dem Ort den NamenNamen Massa2 und Meriba3, wegen des Haderns der KinderKinder IsraelIsrael und weil sie den HERRN versucht hatten, indem sie sagten: Ist der HERR in unserer Mitte oder nicht?7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?12
8 Und es kam AmalekAmalek und kämpfte gegen IsraelIsrael in RephidimRephidim.8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9 Und MoseMose sprach zu JosuaERR ist Rettung (Griech. Jesus); vergl. 4. Mose 13,16">4: Erwähle uns Männer und zieh aus, kämpfe gegen AmalekAmalek; morgen will ich auf dem Gipfel des Hügels stehen mit dem Stab GottesGottes in meiner Hand.9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.3
10 Und JosuaJosua tat, wie MoseMose ihm gesagt hatte, um gegen AmalekAmalek zu kämpfen; und MoseMose, AaronAaron und HurHur stiegen auf den Gipfel des Hügels.10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 Und es geschah, wenn MoseMose seine Hand erhob, so hatte IsraelIsrael die Oberhand, und wenn er seine Hand ruhen ließ, so hatte AmalekAmalek die Oberhand.11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 Und die Hände MosesMoses wurden schwer. Da nahmen sie einen Stein und legten denselben unter ihn, und er setzte sich darauf; und AaronAaron und HurHur unterstützten seine Hände, hier einer und dort einer; und so waren seine Hände fest, bis die SonneSonne unterging.12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13 Und JosuaJosua streckte AmalekAmalek und sein Volk nieder mit der Schärfe des SchwertesSchwertes.13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14 Und der HERR sprach zu MoseMose: Schreibe dieses zum Gedächtnis in ein5 BuchBuch, und lege in die Ohren JosuasJosuas, dass ich das Gedächtnis AmaleksAmaleks gänzlich unter dem HimmelHimmel austilgen werde. 14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
15 Und MoseMose baute einen AltarAltar und gab ihm den NamenNamen: Der HERR, mein PanierPanier!615 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:4
16 Und er sprach: Denn die Hand ist7 am ThronThron Jahs8: Krieg hat der HERR gegen AmalekAmalek von GeschlechtGeschlecht zu GeschlechtGeschlecht!16 For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.56
