1 Und am 24. TagTag dieses Monats versammelten sich die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael unter FastenFasten, und in SacktuchSacktuch gekleidet, und mit ErdeErde auf ihren Häuptern1. 1 Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them.
2 Und der Same IsraelsIsraels sonderte sich ab von allen KindernKindern der Fremde; und sie traten hin und bekannten ihre Sünden und die Ungerechtigkeiten ihrer VäterVäter. 2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.1
3 Und sie standen auf an ihrer Stelle und lasen in dem BuchBuch des GesetzesGesetzes des HERRN, ihres GottesGottes, ein Viertel des TagesTages. Und ein anderes Viertel des TagesTages bekannten sie ihre Sünden und warfen sich nieder vor dem HERRN, ihrem GottGott.3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.
4 Und JeschuaJeschua und BaniBani, KadmielKadmiel, SchebanjaSchebanja, BunniBunni, ScherebjaScherebja, BaniBani, KenaniKenani traten auf die Erhöhung der LevitenLeviten, und sie schrien mit lauter Stimme zu dem HERRN, ihrem GottGott.4 Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.2
5 Und die LevitenLeviten JeschuaJeschua und KadmielKadmiel, BaniBani, HaschabnejaHaschabneja, ScherebjaScherebja, HodijaHodija, SchebanjaSchebanja, PetachjaPetachja sprachen: Steht auf, preist den HERRN, euren GottGott, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Und man preise deinen herrlichen NamenNamen, der erhaben ist über allen PreisPreis und Ruhm!5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
6 Du bist, der da ist2, HERR, du alleinERR, du allein">3; du hast die HimmelHimmel gemacht, der HimmelHimmel HimmelHimmel und all ihr Heer, die ErdeErde und alles, was darauf ist, die MeereMeere und alles, was in ihnen ist. Und du machst dies alles lebendig4, und das Heer des HimmelsHimmels betetbetet dich an.6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
7 Du bist es, HERR, GottGott, der du AbramAbram erwählt und ihn aus UrUr in ChaldäaChaldäa herausgeführt, und ihm den NamenNamen AbrahamAbraham gegeben hast.7 Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham;
8 Und du hast sein HerzHerz treu vor dir befunden und hast mit ihm den BundBund gemacht, das Land der KanaaniterKanaaniter, der HethiterHethiter, der AmoriterAmoriter und der PerisiterPerisiter und der JebusiterJebusiter und der GirgasiterGirgasiter zu geben – seinen Nachkommen es zu geben; und du hast deine WorteWorte erfüllt, denn du bist gerecht. 8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:
9 Und du hast das Elend unserer VäterVäter in Ägypten angesehen und hast ihr Geschrei am SchilfmeerSchilfmeer gehört. 9 And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea;
10 Und du hast ZeichenZeichen und WunderWunder getan an dem PharaoPharao und an allen seinen Knechten und an allem Volk seines Landes; denn du wusstest, dass sie in Übermut gegen sie gehandelt hatten; und du hast dir einen NamenNamen gemacht, wie es an diesem TagTag ist.10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.
11 Und das MeerMeer hast du vor ihnen gespalten, und sie zogen mitten durch das MeerMeer auf dem Trockenen; aber ihre Verfolger hast du in die Tiefen gestürzt, wie einen Stein in mächtige Wasser.11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
12 Und in einer Wolkensäule hast du sie geleitet des TagesTages, und in einer Feuersäule des NachtsNachts, um ihnen den Weg zu erleuchten, auf dem sie ziehen sollten. 12 Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.
13 Und auf den BergBerg SinaiSinai bist du herabgestiegen und hast vom HimmelHimmel her mit ihnen geredet; und du hast ihnen gerade Rechte und GesetzeGesetze der WahrheitWahrheit, gute SatzungenSatzungen und GeboteGebote gegeben.13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:3
14 Und deinen heiligen SabbatSabbat hast du ihnen mitgeteilt und hast ihnen GeboteGebote und SatzungenSatzungen und ein GesetzGesetz geboten durch MoseMose, deinen KnechtKnecht. 14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
15 Und BrotBrot vom HimmelHimmel hast du ihnen gegeben für ihren Hunger, und Wasser aus dem Felsen ihnen hervorgebracht für ihren Durst; und du hast ihnen gesagt, dass sie hineinziehen sollten, um das Land in Besitz zu nehmen, das du ihnen zu geben geschworen5 hattest.15 And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.4
16 Aber sie, nämlich unsere VäterVäter, waren übermütig, und sie verhärteten ihren Nacken und hörten nicht auf deine GeboteGebote.16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
17 Und sie weigerten sich zu gehorchen und gedachten nicht deiner WunderWunder, die du an ihnen getan hattest; sie verhärteten ihren Nacken und setzten sich in ihrer Widerspenstigkeit ein HauptHaupt, um zu ihrer Knechtschaft zurückzukehren6. Du aber bist ein Gott7 der VergebungVergebung, gnädig und barmherzig, langsam zum ZornZorn und groß an Güte, und du verließest sie nicht. 17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.5
18 Sogar als sie sich ein gegossenes KalbKalb machten und sprachen: Das ist dein GottGott, der dich aus Ägypten heraufgeführt hat! Und große Schmähungen verübten,18 Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;
19 verließest du in deinen großen Erbarmungen sie doch nicht in der WüsteWüste. Die Wolkensäule wich nicht von ihnen des TagesTages, um sie auf dem Weg zu leiten, noch die Feuersäule des NachtsNachts, um ihnen den Weg zu erleuchten8, auf dem sie ziehen sollten. 19 Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.
20 Und du gabst ihnen deinen guten GeistGeist, um sie zu unterweisen; und dein MannaManna versagtest du nicht ihrem Mund, und du gabst ihnen Wasser für ihren Durst.20 Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.
21 Und 40 JahreJahre lang versorgtest du sie in der WüsteWüste, sie hatten keinen Mangel; ihre KleiderKleider zerfielen nicht, und ihre Füße schwollen nicht.21 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
22 Und du gabst ihnen Königreiche und Völker und verteiltest ihnen dieselben nach Gegenden9; und sie nahmen das Land SihonsSihons in Besitz, sowohl das Land des Königs von HesbonHesbon, als auch das Land OgsOgs, des Königs von BasanBasan.22 Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.
23 Und ihre Söhne vermehrtest du wie die Sterne des HimmelsHimmels; und du brachtest sie in das Land, von dem du ihren VäternVätern gesagt hattest, dass sie hineingehen sollten, um es in Besitz zu nehmen;23 Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.
24 und die Söhne kamen hinein und nahmen das Land in Besitz. Und du beugtest vor ihnen die Bewohner des Landes, die KanaaniterKanaaniter, und gabst sie in ihre Hand, sowohl ihre KönigeKönige als auch die Völker des Landes, um mit ihnen zu tun nach ihrem Wohlgefallen.24 So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.6
25 Und sie nahmen feste Städte ein und ein fettes Land und nahmen Häuser in Besitz, die mit allerlei Gut gefüllt waren, ausgehauene BrunnenBrunnen, WeinbergeWeinberge und Olivengärten und Obstbäume in Menge. Und sie aßen und wurden satt und fett und ließen es sich wohl sein durch deine große Güte10.25 And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.78
26 Aber sie wurden widerspenstig und empörten sich gegen dich und warfen dein GesetzGesetz hinter ihren Rücken; und sie ermordeten deine ProphetenPropheten, die gegen sie zeugten11, um sie zu dir zurückzuführen; und sie verübten große Schmähungen.26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.
27 Da gabst du sie in die Hand ihrer Bedränger, und diese bedrängten sie; und zur ZeitZeit ihrer BedrängnisBedrängnis schrien sie zu dir, und du hörtest vom HimmelHimmel her und gabst ihnen Retter nach deinen großen Erbarmungen, und diese retteten sie aus der Hand ihrer Bedränger.27 Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
28 Aber sobald sie RuheRuhe hatten, taten sie wiederum Böses vor dir. Da überließest du sie der Hand ihrer Feinde, dass diese über sie herrschten; und sie schrien wiederum zu dir, und du hörtest vom HimmelHimmel her und errettetest sie nach deinen Erbarmungen viele Male.28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;9
29 Und du zeugtest gegen sie12, um sie zu deinem GesetzGesetz zurückzuführen; sie aber waren übermütig und gehorchten deinen Geboten nicht, sondern sündigten gegen deine Rechte, durch die der MenschMensch, wenn er sie tut, leben wird; und sie zogen die SchulterSchulter widerspenstig zurück und verhärteten ihren Nacken und gehorchten nicht.29 And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.10
30 Und du verzogst mit ihnen viele JahreJahre und zeugtest gegen sie durch deinen GeistGeist, durch deine ProphetenPropheten, aber sie gaben kein Gehör. Da gabst du sie in die Hand der Völker der Länder. 30 Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.1112
31 Aber in deinen großen Erbarmungen hast du ihnen nicht den Garaus gemacht und sie nicht verlassen; denn du bist ein gnädiger und barmherziger Gott13.31 Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
32 Und nun, unser GottGott, du großer, starker und furchtbarer GottGott14, der den BundBund und die Güte bewahrt, lass nicht gering vor dir sein alle die Mühsal, die uns betroffen hat, unsere KönigeKönige, unsere Obersten und unsere PriesterPriester und unsere ProphetenPropheten und unsere VäterVäter und dein ganzes Volk, seit den Tagen der KönigeKönige von AssyrienAssyrien bis auf diesen TagTag!32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.1314
33 Doch du bist gerecht in allem, was über uns gekommen ist; denn du hast nach der WahrheitWahrheit gehandelt15, wir aber, wir haben gottlos gehandelt.33 Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:
34 Und unsere KönigeKönige, unsere Obersten, unsere PriesterPriester und unsere VäterVäter haben dein GesetzGesetz nicht gehalten und haben nicht gemerkt auf deine GeboteGebote und auf deine Zeugnisse, womit du gegen sie gezeugtgezeugt hast. 34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them.
35 Und sie haben dir nicht gedient in ihrem Königreich und in der Fülle deiner Güter, die du ihnen gegeben, und in dem weiten und fetten Land, das du vor sie gelegt hattest, und sind nicht umgekehrt von ihren bösen Handlungen.35 For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
36 Siehe, wir sind heute KnechteKnechte; und das Land, das du unseren VäternVätern gegeben hast, um seine Früchte und seine Güter zu genießen – siehe, wir sind KnechteKnechte in demselben! 36 Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it:
37 Und seinen Ertrag vermehrt es für die KönigeKönige, die du um unserer Sünden willen über uns gesetzt hast; und sie schalten über unsere Leiber und über unser ViehVieh nach ihrem Wohlgefallen, und wir sind in großer BedrängnisBedrängnis. 37 And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
