1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

2 Da ging Feuer von dem HERRN^ERRN">1 aus und verzehrte sie, und sie starben vor dem HERRN.

2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

3 Und Mose sprach zu Aaron: Dies ist es, was der HERR geredet hat, indem er sprach: In² denen, die mir nahen³, will ich geheiligt, und vor dem ganzen Volk will ich verherrlicht werden. Und Aaron schwieg.

3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

4 Und Mose rief Misael und Elzaphan, die Söhne Ussiels, des Onkels Aarons, und sprach zu ihnen: Tretet herzu, tragt eure Brüder von dem Heiligtum weg außerhalb des Lagers.

5 Und sie traten herzu und trugen sie in ihren Leibröcken weg außerhalb des Lagers, so wie Mose geredet hatte.

5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.

6 Und Mose sprach zu Aaron und zu Eleasar und zu Ithamar, seinen Söhnen: Eure Häupter sollt ihr nicht entblößen und eure Kleider nicht zerreißen, damit ihr nicht sterbt und er nicht erzürne über die ganze Gemeinde; aber eure Brüder, das ganze Haus Israel, sollen diesen Brand beweinen, den der HERR angerichtet hat.

6 And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

7 Und von dem Eingang des Zeltes der Zusammenkunft sollt ihr nicht weggehen, dass ihr nicht sterbt; denn das Öl der Salbung des HERRN ist auf euch. Und sie taten nach dem Wort Moses.

7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

8 Und der HERR redete zu Aaron und sprach:

8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,

9 Wein und starkes Getränk sollst du nicht trinken, du und deine Söhne mit dir, wenn ihr in das Zelt der Zusammenkunft hineingeht, dass ihr nicht sterbt – eine ewige Satzung bei euren Geschlechtern –

9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

10 und damit ihr unterscheidet zwischen dem Heiligen und dem Unheiligen und zwischen dem Reinen und dem Unreinen,

11 und damit ihr die Kinder Israel lehrt alle die Satzungen, die der HERR durch Mose zu euch geredet hat.

11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

12 Und Mose redete zu Aaron und zu Eleasar und zu Ithamar, seinen Söhnen, den übriggebliebenen: Nehmt das Speisopfer, das von den Feueropfern des HERRN übrigbleibt, und esst es ungesäuert neben dem Altar; denn hochheilig ist es.

12 And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:

13 Und ihr sollt es essen an heiligem Ort, denn es ist dein Bestimmtes und das Bestimmte deiner Söhne von den Feueropfern des HERRN; denn so ist mir geboten.

13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.

14 Und die Brust des Webopfers und den Schenkel des Hebopfers sollt ihr essen an reinem Ort, du und deine Söhne und deine Töchter mit dir; denn als dein Bestimmtes und das Bestimmte deiner Söhne sind sie gegeben von den Friedensopfern der Kinder Israel.

14 And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons' due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.

15 Den Schenkel des Hebopfers und die Brust des Webopfers sollen sie mit den Feueropfern der Fettstücke bringen, um sie als Webopfer vor dem HERRN zu weben; und sie sollen dir gehören und deinen Söhnen mit dir, als eine ewige Gebühr⁴, so wie der HERR geboten hat.

15 The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.

16 Und Mose suchte eifrig den Bock des Sündopfers, und siehe, er war verbrannt. Und er erzürnte über Eleasar und über Ithamar, die Söhne Aarons, die übriggebliebenen, und sprach:

16 And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,

17 Warum habt ihr nicht das Sündopfer an heiligem Ort gegessen? Denn es ist hochheilig; und er hat es euch gegeben, um die Ungerechtigkeit der Gemeinde zu tragen, um Sühnung für sie zu tun vor dem HERRN.

17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?

18 Siehe, das Blut desselben ist nicht in das Innere des Heiligtums gebracht worden; ihr sollt⁵ es jedenfalls im Heiligtum essen, so wie ich geboten habe.

18 Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.

19 Und Aaron redete zu Mose: Siehe, heute haben sie ihr Sündopfer und ihr Brandopfer vor dem HERRN dargebracht, und dies ist mir begegnet; und hätte ich heute das Sündopfer gegessen, würde es gut gewesen sein in den Augen des HERRN?

19 And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?

20 Und Mose hörte es, und es war gut in seinen Augen.

20 And when Moses heard that, he was content.
