1 Und AsaAsa tat was gut und recht war in den AugenAugen des HERRN, seines GottesGottes.2 And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God:
2 Und er tat die fremden Altäre und die Höhen weg, und zerschlug die Bildsäulen und hieb die AscherimAscherim um;3 For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:1
3 und er sprach zu JudaJuda, dass sie den HERRN, den GottGott ihrer VäterVäter, suchen und das GesetzGesetz und das Gebot tun sollten;4 And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
4 und er tat aus allen Städten JudasJudas die Höhen und die Sonnensäulen weg. Und das Königreich hatte RuheRuhe unter ihm1.5 Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.2
5 Und er baute feste Städte in JudaJuda; denn das Land hatte RuheRuhe, und es war kein Krieg gegen ihn in jenen Jahren, denn der HERR hatte ihm RuheRuhe geschafft.6 And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.
6 Und er sprach zu JudaJuda: Lasst uns diese Städte bauen und Mauern ringsum machen und Türme, ToreTore und RiegelRiegel. Noch ist das Land vor uns, denn wir haben den HERRN, unseren GottGott, gesucht; wir haben ihn gesucht, und er hat uns RuheRuhe geschafft ringsumher. Und so bauten sie, und es gelang ihnen.7 Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
7 Und AsaAsa hatte ein Heer, das Schild2 und LanzeLanze trug: aus JudaJuda 300000 und aus BenjaminBenjamin 280000 MannMann, die Tartschen trugen und den BogenBogen spannten: sämtlich tapfere Helden. 8 And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
8 Und SerachSerach, der Kuschiter, zog gegen sie aus mit einem Heer von 1000 Mal 1000 MannMann und 300 WagenWagen; und er kam bis MareschaMarescha.9 And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.
9 Und AsaAsa zog ihm entgegen; und sie stellten sich in Schlachtordnung auf im TalTal ZephataZephata bei MareschaMarescha.10 Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
10 Und AsaAsa rief zu dem HERRN, seinem GottGott, und sprach: HERRHERR! Um zu helfen, ist bei dir kein Unterschied zwischen dem Mächtigen und dem Kraftlosen. Hilf uns, HERRHERR, unser GottGott! Denn wir stützen uns auf dich, und in deinem NamenNamen sind wir gegen diese Menge gezogen. Du bist der HerrHerr, unser GottGott; lass den Menschen nichts gegen dich vermögen3!11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.3
11 Und der HERR schlug die Kuschiter vor AsaAsa und vor JudaJuda; und die Kuschiter flohen.12 So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
12 Und AsaAsa und das Volk, das bei ihm war, jagten ihnen nach bis GerarGerar. Und es fielen von den Kuschitern so viele, dass sie sich nicht wieder erholen konnten; denn sie wurden zerschmettert vor dem HERRN und vor seinem Heer. Und sie trugen sehr viel BeuteBeute davon.13 And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.4
13 Auch schlugen sie alle Städte rings um GerarGerar, denn der Schrecken des HERRN war auf ihnen; und sie beraubten alle die Städte, denn es war viel RaubesRaubes darin.14 And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
14 Und auch die Herdenzelte schlugen sie und führten Kleinvieh in Menge weg und KameleKamele. Und sie kehrten nach JerusalemJerusalem zurück. 15 They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem.
