1 Und1 RehabeamRehabeam ging nach SichemSichem; denn ganz IsraelIsrael war nach SichemSichem gekommen, um ihn zum König zu machen.1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
2 Und es geschah, als Jerobeam, der SohnSohn NebatsNebats, es hörte, (er war aber noch in Ägypten, wohin er vor dem König SalomoSalomo geflohen war, und Jerobeam wohnte in Ägypten;2 And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
3 und sie sandten hin und riefen ihn) da kamen Jerobeam und die ganze VersammlungVersammlung IsraelsIsraels, und sie redeten zu RehabeamRehabeam und sprachen:3 That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
4 Dein VaterVater hat unser JochJoch hart gemacht; du aber, erleichtere nun den harten Dienst deines VatersVaters und sein schweres JochJoch, das er auf uns gelegt hat, so wollen wir dir dienen.4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
5 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin noch drei TageTage, dann kommt wieder zu mir. Und das Volk ging hin.5 And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
6 Und der König RehabeamRehabeam beriet sich mit den Alten, die vor seinem VaterVater SalomoSalomo gestanden hatten, als er noch am LebenLeben war, und sprach: Wie ratet ihr, diesem Volk Antwort zu geben?6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
7 Und sie redeten zu ihm und sprachen: Wenn du heute dieses Volkes KnechtKnecht wirst und ihnen dienst und sie erhörst und gütige WorteWorte zu ihnen redest, so werden sie deine KnechteKnechte sein alle TageTage.7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
8 Aber er verließ den RatRat der Alten, den sie ihm geraten hatten; und er beriet sich mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, die vor ihm standen.8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
9 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was ratet ihr, dass wir diesem Volk zur Antwort geben, das zu mir geredet und gesagt hat: Erleichtere das JochJoch, das dein VaterVater auf uns gelegt hat?9 And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
10 Und die Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, redeten zu ihm und sprachen: So sollst du zu diesem Volk sprechen, das zu dir geredet und gesagt hat: Dein VaterVater hat unser JochJoch schwer gemacht, du aber erleichtere es uns; so sollst du zu ihnen reden: Mein kleiner Finger ist dicker als die LendenLenden meines VatersVaters!10 And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.
11 Nun denn, mein VaterVater hat euch ein schweres JochJoch aufgeladen, ich aber will zu eurem JochJoch hinzutun; mein VaterVater hat euch mit Geißeln gezüchtigt, ich aber will euch mit Skorpionen2 züchtigen.11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
12 Und Jerobeam und alles Volk kam am dritten TagTag zu RehabeamRehabeam, so wie der König geredet und gesagt hatte: Kommt wieder zu mir am dritten TagTag.12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
13 Und der König antwortete dem Volk hart und verließ den RatRat der Alten, den sie ihm gegeben hatten;13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;1
14 und er redete zu ihnen nach dem RatRat der Jungen und sprach: Mein VaterVater hat euer JochJoch schwer gemacht, ich aber will zu eurem JochJoch hinzutun; mein VaterVater hat euch mit Geißeln gezüchtigt, ich aber will euch mit Skorpionen züchtigen.14 And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
15 So hörte der König nicht auf das Volk; denn es war eine Wendung vonseiten des HERRN, damit er sein WortWort aufrecht hielte, das der HERR durch AchijaAchija, den SiloniterSiloniter, zu Jerobeam, dem SohnSohn NebatsNebats, geredet hatte. 15 Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
16 Und als ganz IsraelIsrael sah, dass der König nicht auf sie hörte, da gab das Volk dem König Antwort und sprach: Was haben wir für Teil an DavidDavid? Und wir haben kein ErbteilErbteil am SohnSohn IsaisIsais! Zu deinen Zelten, IsraelIsrael! Nun sieh nach deinem HausHaus, DavidDavid! – Und IsraelIsrael ging nach seinen Zelten.16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
17 Die KinderKinder IsraelIsrael aber, die in den Städten JudasJudas wohnten, über sie wurde RehabeamRehabeam König.17 But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
18 Und der König RehabeamRehabeam sandte AdoramAdoram, der über die Fron war; aber ganz IsraelIsrael steinigte ihn, und er starb. Da eilte der König RehabeamRehabeam, den WagenWagen zu besteigen, um nach JerusalemJerusalem zu fliehen.18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.2
19 So fiel IsraelIsrael vom HausHaus DavidsDavids ab bis auf diesen TagTag.19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.3
20 Und es geschah, als ganz IsraelIsrael hörte, dass Jerobeam zurückgekehrt wäre, da sandten sie hin und riefen ihn zu der GemeindeGemeinde und machten ihn zum König über ganz IsraelIsrael. Niemand folgte dem HausHaus DavidsDavids, als nur der Stamm JudaJuda.20 And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
21 Und3 RehabeamRehabeam kam nach JerusalemJerusalem; und er versammelte das ganze HausHaus JudaJuda und den Stamm BenjaminBenjamin, 180000 auserlesene Krieger, um mit dem HausHaus IsraelIsrael zu kämpfen, damit er das Königreich an RehabeamRehabeam, den SohnSohn SalomosSalomos, zurückbrächte.21 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
22 Da erging das WortWort GottesGottes an SchemajaSchemaja, dem MannMann GottesGottes, indem er sprach:22 But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
23 Sage zu RehabeamRehabeam, dem SohnSohn SalomosSalomos, dem König von JudaJuda, und zu dem ganzen HausHaus JudaJuda und BenjaminBenjamin und zu dem übrigen Volk, und sprich: 23 Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
24 So spricht der HERR: Ihr sollt nicht hinaufziehen und nicht mit euren BrüdernBrüdern, den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael kämpfen; kehrt um, jeder nach seinem HausHaus, denn von mir aus ist diese Sache geschehen. Und sie hörten auf das WortWort des HERRN und zogen wieder zurück nach dem WortWort des HERRN.24 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.
25 Und Jerobeam baute SichemSichem im GebirgeGebirge EphraimEphraim und wohnte darin; und er zog von dort aus und baute PnuelPnuel.25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
26 Und Jerobeam sprach in seinem Herzen: Nun wird das Königreich an das HausHaus DavidsDavids zurückkommen.26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:
27 Wenn dieses Volk hinaufziehen wird, um im HausHaus des HERRNHERRN in JerusalemJerusalem SchlachtopferSchlachtopfer zu opfern, so wird das HerzHerz dieses Volkes sich zu ihrem HerrnHerrn zurückwenden, zu RehabeamRehabeam, dem König von JudaJuda; und sie werden mich töten und sich zu RehabeamRehabeam, dem König von JudaJuda, zurückwenden.27 If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.
28 Da beriet sich der König und machte zwei goldene Kälber. Und er sprach zu dem Volk4: Es ist zu viel für euch, nach JerusalemJerusalem hinaufzuziehen; siehe da, IsraelIsrael, deine GötterGötter, die dich aus dem Land Ägypten heraufgeführt haben. 28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
29 Und er stellte das eine in BethelBethel auf, und das andere tat er nach DanDan. 29 And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.
30 Und diese Sache wurde zur SündeSünde, und das Volk ging vor das eine hin bis nach DanDan.30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.
31 Auch baute er Höhenhäuser, und machte PriesterPriester aus sämtlichem Volk, die nicht von den KindernKindern LeviLevi waren. 31 And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.
32 Und Jerobeam machte ein Fest im 8. Monat, am 15. TagTag des Monats, wie das Fest, das in JudaJuda stattfand5, und er opferte auf dem AltarAltar. Ebenso tat er in BethelBethel, indem er den Kälbern opferte, die er gemacht hatte; und er bestellte in BethelBethel die PriesterPriester der Höhen, die er gemacht hatte. 32 And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.45
33 Und er opferte auf dem AltarAltar, den er in BethelBethel gemacht hatte, am 15. TagTag im 8. Monat, in dem Monat, den er aus seinem Herzen erdacht hatte; und er machte den KindernKindern IsraelIsrael ein Fest, und opferte auf dem AltarAltar und räucherte6. 33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.67
