1 Und SimsonSimson ging nach TimnaTimna hinab; und er sah in TimnaTimna eine FrauFrau von den Töchtern der PhilisterPhilister.1 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 Und er ging hinauf und berichtete es seinem VaterVater und seiner MutterMutter und sprach: Ich habe in TimnaTimna eine FrauFrau gesehen von den Töchtern der PhilisterPhilister; und nun nehmt sie mir zur FrauFrau.2 And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
3 Und sein VaterVater und seine MutterMutter sprachen zu ihm: Ist unter den Töchtern deiner BrüderBrüder und unter meinem ganzen Volk keine FrauFrau, dass du hingehst, eine FrauFrau zu nehmen von den PhilisternPhilistern, den Unbeschnittenen? Und SimsonSimson sprach zu seinem VaterVater: Diese nimm mir, denn sie ist recht in meinen AugenAugen.3 Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.1
4 Sein VaterVater und seine MutterMutter wussten aber nicht, dass es von dem HERRN war; denn er suchte eine Gelegenheit an den PhilisternPhilistern. Und in jener ZeitZeit herrschten die PhilisterPhilister über IsraelIsrael. 4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
5 Und SimsonSimson ging mit seinem VaterVater und seiner MutterMutter nach TimnaTimna hinab; und als sie an die WeinbergeWeinberge von TimnaTimna kamen, siehe, da brüllte ein junger LöweLöwe ihm entgegen.5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him.2
6 Und der GeistGeist des HERRN geriet über ihn, und er zerriss ihn, wie man ein Böckchen zerreißt; und er hatte gar nichts in seiner Hand. Und er tat seinem VaterVater und seiner MutterMutter nicht kund was er getan hatte. 6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
7 Und er ging hinab und redete zu der FrauFrau, und sie war recht in den AugenAugen SimsonsSimsons.7 And he went down, and talked with the woman; and she pleased Samson well.
8 Und er kehrte nach einiger ZeitZeit zurück, um sie zu nehmen, und er bog ab, um das Aas1 des Löwen zu besehen, und siehe, ein Bienenschwarm war in dem Körper des Löwen, und HonigHonig.8 And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.
9 Da nahm er ihn heraus in seine Hände, und ging und aß im Gehen; und er ging zu seinem VaterVater und zu seiner MutterMutter und gab ihnen, und sie aßen; aber er tat ihnen nicht kund, dass er den HonigHonig aus dem Körper des Löwen herausgenommen hatte. 9 And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.
10 Und sein VaterVater ging zu der FrauFrau hinab, und SimsonSimson machte dort ein Mahl; denn so pflegten2 die Jünglinge zu tun. 10 So his father went down unto the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do.
11 Und es geschah, als sie ihn sahen, da nahmen sie 30 Gesellen; und sie waren bei ihm. 11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.
12 Und SimsonSimson sprach zu ihnen: Ich will euch einmal ein RätselRätsel aufgeben: Wenn ihr es mir in den sieben Tagen des Mahles kundtut und es erratet, so werde ich euch 30 Hemden3 und 30 Wechselkleider geben.12 And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:3
13 Wenn ihr es mir aber nicht mitteilen könnt, so sollt ihr mir 30 Hemden und 30 Wechselkleider geben. Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Gib dein RätselRätsel auf, dass wir es hören! 13 But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.4
14 Und er sprach zu ihnen:Aus dem Fresser kam Fraß, und aus dem Starken4 kam Süßigkeit.Und sie vermochten das RätselRätsel nicht mitzuteilen drei TageTage lang. 14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
15 Und es geschah am siebten TagTag, da sprachen sie zu der FrauFrau SimsonsSimsons: BeredeBerede deinen MannMann, dass er uns das RätselRätsel kundtue, damit wir nicht dich und deines VatersVaters HausHaus mit FeuerFeuer verbrennen! Um uns zu berauben, habt ihr uns geladen, nicht wahr? 15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?5
16 Und SimsonsSimsons FrauFrau weinte an ihm und sprach: Du hasst mich nur und liebst mich nicht. Das RätselRätsel hast du den KindernKindern meines Volkes aufgegeben, und mir hast du es nicht mitgeteilt. Und er sprach zu ihr: Siehe, meinem VaterVater und meiner MutterMutter habe ich es nicht mitgeteilt, und dir sollte ich es mitteilen? 16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
17 Und sie weinte an ihm die sieben TageTage, da sie das Mahl hatten. Und es geschah am siebten TagTag, da tat er es ihr kund, denn sie drängte ihn. Und sie tat das RätselRätsel den KindernKindern ihres Volkes kund. 17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.6
18 Da sprachen die Männer der Stadt zu ihm am siebten TagTag, ehe die SonneSonne unterging: Was ist süßer als HonigHonig? Und was ist stärker5 als der LöweLöwe? Und er sprach zu ihnen:Wenn ihr nicht mit meinem Kalb6 gepflügt hättet, so hättet ihr mein RätselRätsel nicht erraten.18 And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.
19 Und der GeistGeist des HERRN geriet über ihn; und er ging hinab nach AskalonAskalon und erschlug von ihnen 30 MannMann und nahm ihre ausgezogenen Gewänder und gab die Wechselkleider denen, die das RätselRätsel mitgeteilt hatten. Und sein ZornZorn entbrannte, und er ging hinauf in das HausHaus seines VatersVaters. 19 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.7
20 Und die FrauFrau SimsonsSimsons wurde einem seiner Gesellen gegeben, den er sich zugesellt hatte. 20 But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
