1 Wenn EphraimEphraim redete, war Schrecken; es erhob sich in IsraelIsrael. Aber es verschuldete sich durch BaalBaal und starb. 1 When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.
2 Und nun fahren sie fort zu sündigen und machen sich von ihrem SilberSilber gegossene BilderBilder, Götzenbilder nach ihrem Verstand, allesamt ein Werk der KünstlerKünstler; von genau diesen sagt man: Die Menschen, die opfern, küssen die Kälber!12 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.12
3 Darum werden sie sein wie die Morgenwolke und wie der TauTau, der früh verschwindet, wie SpreuSpreu, die von der Tenne dahinfliegt, und wie Rauch aus dem GitterGitter.3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.
4 Ich aber bin der HERR, dein GottGott, vom Land Ägypten her; und du kennst keinen GottGott außer mir, und da ist kein Retter als ich. 4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
5 Ich habe dich ja gekannt in der WüsteWüste, in dem Land der Gluten.5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.3
6 Ihrer Weide gemäß wurden sie satt, sie wurden satt, und ihr HerzHerz erhob sich; darum haben sie mich vergessen.6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
7 Und so wurde ich ihnen wie ein LöweLöwe; wie ein LeopardLeopard laure ich am Weg.7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
8 Ich werde sie anfallen wie eine Bärin, die der Jungen beraubt ist, und werde den Verschluss ihres Herzens2 zerreißen; und ich werde sie dort verzehren wie ein LöweLöwe; die TiereTiere des Feldes werden sie zerfleischen.8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.4
9 Es hat dich zugrunde gerichtet, IsraelIsrael, dass du gegen mich, gegen deine Hilfe, bist.9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.5
10 Wo ist nun dein König, dass er dich rette in allen deinen Städten, und wo deine RichterRichter, von denen du sagtest: Gib mir einen König und Fürsten?10 I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?6
11 Ich gab dir einen König in meinem ZornZorn und nahm3 ihn weg in meinem Grimm.11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.
12 Die Ungerechtigkeit4 EphraimsEphraims ist zusammengebunden, aufbewahrt seine SündeSünde.12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.
13 Wehen einer Gebärenden werden ihn ankommen. Er ist ein unweiser SohnSohn; denn wenn es ZeitZeit ist, tritt er nicht ein in den Durchbruch der KinderKinder.13 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.7
14 Von der GewaltGewalt des ScheolsScheols werde ich sie erlösen, vom TodTod sie befreien! Wo sind, o TodTod, deine Seuchen? Wo ist, o ScheolScheol, dein VerderbenVerderben? ReueReue ist vor meinen AugenAugen verborgen.14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.8
15 Denn er wird Frucht tragen unter den BrüdernBrüdern.Ein Ostwind wird kommen, ein WindWind des HERRN, von der WüsteWüste heraufsteigend, und seine QuelleQuelle wird vertrocknen und seine QuelleQuelle versiegen; er5 wird die Schatzkammer aller kostbaren Geräte plündern. 15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.9
