1 Mit Lüge hat EphraimEphraim mich umringt, und das HausHaus IsraelIsrael mit Trug; und JudaJuda ist immer noch zügellos gegen GottGott1 und gegen den Heiligen2, der treu ist.1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
2 EphraimEphraim weidet sich an WindWind und jagt dem Ostwind nach; den ganzen TagTag vermehrt es Lüge und Gewalttat; und sie schließen einen BundBund mit AssyrienAssyrien, und Öl wird nach Ägypten gebracht.2 The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.1
3 Auch mit JudaJuda hat der HERR einen Rechtsstreit; und er wird JakobJakob heimsuchen nach seinen Wegen, nach seinen Handlungen ihm vergelten.3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:2
4 Im Mutterleib hielt er seines BrudersBruders Ferse, und in seiner Manneskraft kämpfte er mit GottGott3:4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;
5 Er kämpfte mit dem EngelEngel und überwand, er weinte und flehte zu ihm; in BethelBethel fand er ihn, und dort redete er mit uns.5 Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.
6 Und der HERR, der GottGott der HeerscharenHeerscharen – HERR ist sein Gedenkname4.6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
7 Du denn, kehre um zu deinem GottGott; bewahre Güte und Recht, und hoffe beständig auf deinen GottGott.7 He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.34
8 Ein Kaufmann ist er; in seiner Hand ist eine WaageWaage des Betrugs, er liebt zu übervorteilen. 8 And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.56
9 Und EphraimEphraim spricht: Ich bin doch reich geworden, habe mir Vermögen erworben; in all meinem Erwerb wird man mir keine Ungerechtigkeit nachweisen5, die SündeSünde wäre.9 And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
10 Ich aber bin der HERR, dein GottGott, vom Land Ägypten her; ich werde dich wieder in Zelten wohnen lassen wie in den Tagen der Festfeier.10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.7
11 Und ich habe zu den ProphetenPropheten geredet, ja, ich habe GesichteGesichte vermehrt und durch die ProphetenPropheten in Gleichnissen geredet.11 Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
12 Wenn Gilead6 Frevel7 ist, so werden sie nur Nichtiges werden. In GilgalGilgal opferten sie StiereStiere; so werden auch ihre Altäre wie Steinhaufen sein auf den Furchen des Feldes.12 And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
13 Und JakobJakob entfloh nach dem Gefilde von AramAram, und IsraelIsrael diente um eine FrauFrau und hütete um eine FrauFrau. 13 And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
14 Und der HERR führte IsraelIsrael durch einen ProphetenPropheten aus Ägypten herauf, und durch einen ProphetenPropheten wurde es gehütet.14 Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.89
15 EphraimEphraim erzürnte ihn bitterlich, und sein HerrHerr wird seine Blutschuld auf ihm lassen und seine Schmähung ihm vergelten.
