1 Es war aber nach zwei Tagen das PassahPassah und das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote1. Und die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten suchten, wie sie ihn mit List griffen und töteten;1 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
2 denn sie sagten: Nicht an dem Fest, damit nicht etwa ein Aufruhr des Volkes entstehe.2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3 Und als er in BethanienBethanien war, in dem HausHaus SimonsSimons, des Aussätzigen, kam, während er zu Tisch lag, eine FrauFrau, die ein Alabaster-Fläschchen mit SalbeSalbe von echter2, kostbarer NardeNarde hatte; und sie zerbrach das Fläschchen und goss es aus auf sein HauptHaupt. 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.1
4 Es waren aber einige unwillig bei sich selbst und sprachen: Wozu ist dieser Verlust der SalbeSalbe geschehen? 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5 denn diese SalbeSalbe hätte für mehr als 300 DenareDenare verkauft und den Armen gegeben werden können. Und sie zürnten mit ihr. 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6 JesusJesus aber sprach: Lasst sie; was macht ihr ihr Mühe? Sie hat ein gutes Werk an mir getan; 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7 denn die Armen habt ihr allezeit bei euch, und wenn ihr wollt, könnt ihr ihnen wohltun; mich aber habt ihr nicht allezeit.7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
8 Sie hat getan, was sie vermochte; sie hat im Voraus meinen Leib zum Begräbnis3 gesalbt.8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
9 Und wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wo irgend dieses EvangeliumEvangelium gepredigt werden wird in der ganzen WeltWelt, wird auch von dem geredet werden, was diese getan hat, zu ihrem Gedächtnis. 9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
10 Und JudasJudas IskariotIskariot, einer von den Zwölfen, ging hin zu den Hohenpriestern, damit er ihn denselben überlieferte. 10 And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.
11 Sie aber freuten sich, als sie es hörten, und versprachen, ihm GeldGeld zu geben; und er suchte, wie er ihn zu gelegener ZeitZeit überliefern könnte.11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
12 Und an dem ersten TagTag der ungesäuerten BroteBrote, da man das PassahPassah schlachtete, sagen seine JüngerJünger zu ihm: Wo willst du, dass wir hingehen und bereiten, damit du das PassahPassah essest? 12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?2
13 Und er sendet zwei seiner JüngerJünger und spricht zu ihnen: Geht hin in die Stadt, und es wird euch ein MenschMensch begegnen, der einen KrugKrug Wasser trägt; folgt ihm,13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
14 und wo irgend er hineingeht, sprecht zu dem HausherrnHausherrn: Der LehrerLehrer sagt: Wo ist mein GastzimmerGastzimmer, wo ich mit meinen JüngernJüngern das PassahPassah essen mag?14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
15 Und derselbe wird euch einen großen Obersaal zeigen, mit Polstern belegt und fertig; dort bereitet für uns. 15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
16 Und seine JüngerJünger gingen aus und kamen in die Stadt und fanden es, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte; und sie bereiteten das PassahPassah. 16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
17 Und als es AbendAbend geworden war, kommt er mit den Zwölfen.17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
18 Und während sie zu Tisch lagen und aßen, sprach JesusJesus: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer von euch wird mich überliefern, der, der mit mir isst.18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
19 Sie aber fingen an betrübt zu werden und einer nach dem anderen zu ihm zu sagen: Doch nicht ich? [und ein anderer: Doch nicht ich?]19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20 Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Einer von den Zwölfen, der mit mir in die SchüsselSchüssel eintaucht. 20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
21 Der SohnSohn des Menschen geht zwar dahin, wie über ihn geschrieben steht; wehe aber jenem Menschen, durch den der SohnSohn des Menschen überliefert wird! Es wäre jenem Menschen gut, wenn er nicht geboren wäre. 21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
22 Und während sie aßen, nahm JesusJesus BrotBrot, segnete4, brach und gab es ihnen und sprach: Nehmt; dieses ist mein Leib. 22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23 Und er nahm [den] KelchKelch, dankte und gab ihnen denselben; und sie tranken alle daraus.23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Dieses ist mein BlutBlut, das des [neuen] BundesBundes, das für viele vergossen wird.24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25 Wahrlich, ich sage euch, dass ich von nun an nicht mehr von dem Gewächs des Weinstocks trinken werde bis an jenem TagTag, da ich es neu trinken werde in dem ReichReich GottesGottes. 25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
26 Und als sie ein Loblied gesungen hatten, gingen sie hinaus nach dem Ölberg. 26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.3
27 Und JesusJesus spricht zu ihnen: Ihr werdet euch alle ärgern, denn es steht geschrieben: „Ich werde den Hirten schlagen, und die SchafeSchafe werden zerstreut werden“.5 27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.4
28 Nachdem ich aber auferweckt sein werde, werde ich vor euch hingehen nach GaliläaGaliläa. 28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
29 PetrusPetrus aber sprach zu ihm: Wenn sich auch alle ärgern werden, ich aber nicht. 29 But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.
30 Und JesusJesus spricht zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir, dass du heute, in dieser NachtNacht, ehe der HahnHahn zweimal kräht, mich dreimal verleugnen wirst.30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
31 Er aber sprach über die Maßen [mehr]: Wenn ich mit dir sterben müsste, werde ich dich nicht verleugnen. Desgleichen aber sprachen auch alle. 31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
32 Und sie kommen an einen Ort, mit NamenNamen GethsemaneGethsemane, und er spricht zu seinen JüngernJüngern: Setzt euch hier, bis ich gebetetgebetet habe6.32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
33 Und er nimmt den PetrusPetrus und JakobusJakobus und JohannesJohannes mit sich und fing an, sehr bestürzt und beängstigt zu werden.33 And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
34 Und er spricht zu ihnen: Meine SeeleSeele ist sehr betrübt, bis zum TodTod; bleibt hier und wacht.34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35 Und er ging ein wenig weiter, fiel auf die ErdeErde und betetebetete, dass, wenn es möglich wäre, die StundeStunde an7 ihm vorüber gehe.35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36 Und er sprach: AbbaAbba, VaterVater, alles ist dir möglich; nimm diesen KelchKelch von mir weg! Doch nicht, was ich will, sondern was du willst!36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37 Und er kommt und findet sie schlafend; und er spricht zu PetrusPetrus: SimonSimon, schläfst du? Vermochtest du nicht eine StundeStunde zu wachen?37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
38 Wacht und betetbetet, damit ihr nicht in VersuchungVersuchung kommt; der GeistGeist zwar ist willig, das FleischFleisch aber schwach.38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
39 Und er ging wiederum hin, betetebetete und sprach dasselbe WortWort.39 And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
40 Und als er zurückkam, fand er sie wiederum schlafend, denn ihre AugenAugen waren beschwert; und sie wussten nicht, was sie ihm antworten sollten. 40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
41 Und er kommt zum dritten Mal und spricht zu ihnen: So schlaft denn fort und ruht aus. Es ist genug; die StundeStunde ist gekommen: Siehe, der SohnSohn des Menschen wird in die Hände der Sünder überliefert. 41 And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Steht auf, lasst uns gehen; siehe, der mich überliefert, ist nahe gekommen.42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
43 Und sogleich, während er noch redete, kommt JudasJudas, einer der Zwölf, herzu, und mit ihm eine große Volksmenge mit SchwerternSchwertern und Stöcken, von den Hohenpriestern und den Schriftgelehrten und den Ältesten.43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44 Der ihn aber überlieferte, hatte ihnen ein ZeichenZeichen gegeben und gesagt: Wen irgend ich küssen werde, der ist es; ihn greift, und führt ihn sicher fort.44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
45 Und als er kam, trat er sogleich zu ihm und spricht: RabbiRabbi, RabbiRabbi! Und küsste ihn sehr8.45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
46 Sie aber legten ihre Hände an ihn und griffen ihn. 46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
47 Einer aber von den Dabeistehenden zog das SchwertSchwert, schlug den KnechtKnecht des Hohenpriesters und hieb ihm das OhrOhr ab. 47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48 Und JesusJesus hob an und sprach zu ihnen: Seid ihr ausgezogen wie gegen einen RäuberRäuber, mit SchwerternSchwertern und Stöcken, mich zu fangen?48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
49 Täglich war ich bei euch, im Tempel9 lehrend, und ihr habt mich nicht gegriffen; – aber damit die SchriftenSchriften erfüllt würden.49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
50 Und es verließen ihn alle und flohen.50 And they all forsook him, and fled.
51 Und ein gewisser Jüngling folgte ihm, der eine feine LeinwandLeinwand um den bloßen Leib geworfen hatte; und [die Jünglinge] greifen ihn. 51 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
52 Er aber ließ die feine LeinwandLeinwand fahren und floh nackt von ihnen. 52 And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
53 Und sie führten JesusJesus weg zu dem Hohenpriester; und alle Hohenpriester und Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten versammeln sich zu ihm. 53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
54 Und PetrusPetrus folgte ihm von ferne bis hinein in den Hof des Hohenpriesters; und er saß mit bei den DienernDienern und wärmte sich an dem FeuerFeuer. 54 And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
55 Die Hohenpriester aber und das ganze SynedriumSynedrium suchten ZeugnisZeugnis gegen JesusJesus, um ihn zum TodTod zu bringen; und sie fanden keines.55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
56 Denn viele gaben falsches ZeugnisZeugnis gegen ihn, und die Zeugnisse waren nicht übereinstimmend. 56 For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
57 Und einige standen auf und gaben falsches ZeugnisZeugnis gegen ihn und sprachen:57 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
58 Wir hörten ihn sagen: Ich werde diesen Tempel10, der mit Händen gemacht ist, abbrechen, und in drei Tagen werde ich einen anderen aufbauen, der nicht mit Händen gemacht ist.58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
59 Und auch so war ihr ZeugnisZeugnis nicht übereinstimmend.59 But neither so did their witness agree together.
60 Und der HohepriesterHohepriester stand auf, trat in die Mitte und fragte JesusJesus und sprach: Antwortest du nichts? Was zeugenzeugen diese gegen dich? 60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
61 Er aber schwieg und antwortete nichts. Wiederum fragte ihn der HohepriesterHohepriester und spricht zu ihm: Bist du der ChristusChristus, der SohnSohn des Gesegneten?61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 JesusJesus aber sprach: Ich bin es! Und ihr werdet den SohnSohn des Menschen sitzen sehen zur Rechten der MachtMacht und kommen mit den Wolken des HimmelsHimmels.62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
63 Der HohepriesterHohepriester aber zerriss seine KleiderKleider und spricht: Was bedürfen wir noch Zeugen? 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
64 Ihr habt die LästerungLästerung gehört. Was meint ihr? Sie alle aber verurteilten ihn, dass er des TodesTodes schuldig sei.64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
65 Und einige fingen an ihn anzuspeien, und sein Angesicht zu verhüllen und ihn mit Fäusten zu schlagen und zu ihm zu sagen: Weissage! Und die DienerDiener gaben ihm Backenstreiche. 65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
66 Und als PetrusPetrus unten im Hof war, kommt eine von den Mägden des Hohenpriesters, 66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
67 und als sie den PetrusPetrus sich wärmen sah, blickt sie ihn an und spricht: Auch du warst mit dem NazarenerNazarener JesusJesus. 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
68 Er aber leugnete und sprach: Ich weiß nicht, verstehe auch nicht, was du sagst. Und er ging hinaus in den Vorhof; und der HahnHahn krähte.68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
69 Und als die MagdMagd ihn sah, fing sie wiederum an, zu den Dabeistehenden zu sagen: Dieser ist einer von ihnen.69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
70 Er aber leugnete wiederum. Und kurz nachher sagten wiederum die Dabeistehenden zu PetrusPetrus: Wahrhaftig, du bist einer von ihnen, denn du bist auch ein GaliläerGaliläer. 70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
71 Er aber fing an, sich zu verfluchen und zu schwören: Ich kenne diesen Menschen nicht, von dem ihr redet.71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
72 Und zum zweiten Mal krähte der HahnHahn. Und PetrusPetrus gedachte des WortesWortes, wie JesusJesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: EheEhe der HahnHahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen. Und als er daran dachte, weinte er. 72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.5
