1 Und dem EngelEngel der VersammlungVersammlung in SardesSardes schreibe: Dieses sagt, der die sieben GeisterGeister GottesGottes hat und die sieben Sterne:Ich kenne deine WerkeWerke, dass du den NamenNamen hast, dass du lebst, und bist tot. 1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 Sei wachsam1 und stärke das Übrige, das sterben will2; denn ich habe deine WerkeWerke nicht völlig befunden vor meinem GottGott. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3 Gedenke nun, wie du empfangen und gehört hast, und bewahre es und tu BußeBuße. Wenn du nun nicht wachen wirst, so werde ich [über dich] kommen wie ein DiebDieb, und du wirst nicht wissen, zu welcher StundeStunde ich über dich kommen werde. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 Aber du hast einige wenige NamenNamen in SardesSardes, die ihre KleiderKleider nicht besudelt haben; und sie werden mit mir einhergehen in weißen KleidernKleidern, denn sie sind es wert3.4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5 Wer überwindet, der wird mit weißen KleidernKleidern bekleidet werden, und ich werde seinen NamenNamen nicht auslöschen aus dem BuchBuch des LebensLebens und werde seinen NamenNamen bekennen vor meinem VaterVater und vor seinen Engeln.5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6 Wer ein OhrOhr hat, höre, was der GeistGeist den VersammlungenVersammlungen sagt!6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
7 Und dem EngelEngel der VersammlungVersammlung in PhiladelphiaPhiladelphia schreibe: Dieses sagt der HeiligeHeilige, der Wahrhaftige, der den SchlüsselSchlüssel des DavidDavid hat, der öffnet, und niemand wird schließen, und schließt, und niemand wird öffnen:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 Ich kenne deine WerkeWerke. Siehe, ich habe eine geöffnete TürTür vor dir gegeben, die niemand zu schließen vermag; denn du hast eine kleine KraftKraft, und hast mein WortWort bewahrt und hast meinen NamenNamen nicht verleugnet.8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9 Siehe, ich gebe aus der SynagogeSynagoge des SatansSatans von denen, die sagen, sie seien Juden, und sind es nicht, sondern lügen; siehe, ich werde sie zwingen4, dass sie kommen und sich niederwerfen vor deinen Füßen und erkennen, dass ich dich geliebt habe.9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
10 Weil du das WortWort meines Ausharrens bewahrt hast, werde auch ich dich bewahren vor der StundeStunde der VersuchungVersuchung, die über den ganzen Erdkreis5 kommen wird6, um die zu versuchen, die auf der ErdeErde wohnen.10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Ich komme bald7; halte fest, was du hast, damit niemand deine KroneKrone nehme!11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
12 Wer überwindet, den werde ich zu einer SäuleSäule machen in dem TempelTempel meines GottesGottes, und er wird nie mehr hinausgehen; und ich werde auf ihn schreiben den NamenNamen meines GottesGottes und den NamenNamen der Stadt meines GottesGottes, des neuen JerusalemJerusalem, das aus dem HimmelHimmel herabkommt von meinem GottGott, und meinen neuen NamenNamen.12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
13 Wer ein OhrOhr hat, höre, was der GeistGeist den VersammlungenVersammlungen sagt!13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
14 Und dem EngelEngel der VersammlungVersammlung in LaodizeaLaodizea schreibe: Dieses sagt der AmenAmen, der treue und wahrhaftige Zeuge, der AnfangAnfang der SchöpfungSchöpfung GottesGottes:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;1
15 Ich kenne deine WerkeWerke, dass du weder kalt noch warm bist. Ach, dass du kalt oder warm wärest!15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So, weil du lau bist und weder kalt noch warm, so werde ich dich ausspeien8 aus meinem Mund.16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Weil du sagst: Ich bin reich und bin reich geworden und bedarf nichts, und weißt nicht, dass du der Elende und der Jämmerliche und arm und blind und bloß bist. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 Ich rate dir, GoldGold von mir zu kaufen, geläutert im FeuerFeuer, damit du reich wirst; und weiße KleiderKleider, damit du bekleidet wirst und die Schande deiner Blöße nicht offenbar werde; und Augensalbe, deine AugenAugen zu salben, damit du sehen mögest. 18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 Ich überführe und züchtige, so viele ich liebe. Sei nun eifrig und tu BußeBuße!19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Siehe, ich stehe an der TürTür und klopfe an; wenn jemand meine Stimme hört und die TürTür auftut, zu dem werde ich eingehen und das Abendbrot mit ihm essen, und er mit mir. 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 Wer überwindet, dem werde ich geben, mit mir auf meinem ThronThron zu sitzen, wie auch ich überwunden und mich mit meinem VaterVater gesetzt habe auf seinen ThronThron.21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 Wer ein OhrOhr hat, höre, was der GeistGeist den VersammlungenVersammlungen sagt!22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
