1 Euer HerzHerz werde nicht bestürzt1. Ihr glaubt an2 GottGott, glaubt auch an mich!1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In dem HausHaus meines VatersVaters sind viele Wohnungen; wenn es nicht so wäre, würde ich es euch gesagt haben; denn ich gehe hin, euch eine Stätte zu bereiten. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 Und wenn ich hingehe und euch eine Stätte bereite, so komme ich wieder und werde euch zu mir nehmen, damit, wo ich bin, auch ihr seid.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 Und wo ich hingehe, wisst ihr, und den Weg wisst ihr. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 ThomasThomas spricht zu ihm: HerrHerr, wir wissen nicht, wo du hingehst, und wie können wir den Weg wissen? 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 JesusJesus spricht zu ihm: Ich bin der Weg und die WahrheitWahrheit und das LebenLeben. Niemand kommt zum VaterVater, als nur durch mich.6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 Wenn ihr mich erkannt hättet, so würdet ihr auch meinen VaterVater erkannt haben; und von jetzt an erkennt ihr ihn und habt ihn gesehen.7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 PhilippusPhilippus spricht zu ihm: HerrHerr, zeige uns den VaterVater, und es genügt uns.8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 JesusJesus spricht zu ihm: So lange ZeitZeit bin ich bei euch, und du hast mich nicht erkannt, PhilippusPhilippus? Wer mich gesehen hat, hat den VaterVater gesehen, und wie sagst du: Zeige uns den VaterVater?9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Glaubst du nicht, dass ich in dem VaterVater bin und der VaterVater in mir ist? Die WorteWorte, die ich zu euch rede, rede ich nicht von mir selbst; der VaterVater aber, der in mir bleibt3, er tut die WerkeWerke.10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Glaubt mir, dass ich in dem VaterVater bin und der VaterVater in mir ist; wenn aber nicht, so glaubt mir um der WerkeWerke selbst willen.11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wer an mich glaubt, der wird auch die WerkeWerke tun, die ich tue, und wird größere als diese tun, weil ich zum VaterVater gehe.12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 Und was irgend ihr bitten werdet in meinem NamenNamen, das werde ich tun, damit der VaterVater verherrlicht werde in dem SohnSohn.13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 Wenn ihr etwas bitten werdet in meinem NamenNamen, so werde ich es tun.14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 Wenn ihr mich liebt, so haltet meine GeboteGebote;15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 und ich werde den VaterVater bitten, und er wird euch einen anderen Sachwalter4 geben, dass er bei euch sei in Ewigkeit,16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 den GeistGeist der WahrheitWahrheit, den die WeltWelt nicht empfangen kann, weil sie ihn nicht sieht noch ihn kennt. Ihr [aber] kennt ihn, denn er bleibt bei euch und wird in euch sein.17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 Ich werde euch nicht als Waisen5 lassen, ich komme zu euch. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.1
19 Noch eine kurze ZeitZeit, und die WeltWelt sieht mich nicht mehr; ihr aber seht mich: Weil ich lebe, werdet auch ihr leben. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 An jenem TagTag werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich in meinem VaterVater bin und ihr in mir und ich in euch.20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 Wer meine GeboteGebote hat und sie hält, der ist es, der mich liebt; wer aber mich liebt, wird von meinem VaterVater geliebt werden; und ich werde ihn lieben und mich selbst ihm offenbar machen.21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
22 JudasJudas, nicht der IskariotIskariot, spricht zu ihm: HerrHerr, wie ist es6, dass du dich uns offenbar machen willst und nicht der WeltWelt? 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23 JesusJesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wenn jemand mich liebt, so wird er mein WortWort halten7, und mein VaterVater wird ihn lieben, und wir werden zu ihm kommen und Wohnung bei ihm machen8.23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 Wer mich nicht liebt, hält meine WorteWorte nicht; und das WortWort, das ihr hört, ist nicht mein, sondern des VatersVaters, der mich gesandt hat.24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25 Dies habe ich zu euch geredet, während ich bei euch bin9.25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 Der Sachwalter10 aber, der HeiligeHeilige GeistGeist, den der VaterVater senden wird in meinem NamenNamen, jener wird euch alles lehren und euch an alles erinnern, was ich euch gesagt habe. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Frieden lasse ich euch, meinen Frieden gebe ich euch; nicht wie die WeltWelt gibt, gebe ich euch. Euer HerzHerz werde nicht bestürzt, sei auch nicht furchtsam.27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 Ihr habt gehört, dass ich euch gesagt habe: Ich gehe hin, und ich komme zu euch. Wenn ihr mich liebtet, so würdet ihr euch freuen, dass ich zum VaterVater gehe, denn [mein] VaterVater ist größer als ich. 28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
29 Und jetzt habe ich es euch gesagt, ehe es geschieht, damit, wenn es geschieht, ihr glaubt.29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
30 Ich werde nicht mehr vieles mit euch reden, denn der FürstFürst der WeltWelt kommt und hat nichts in mir;30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
31 aber damit die WeltWelt erkenne, dass ich den VaterVater liebe und so tue, wie mir der VaterVater geboten hat. – Steht auf, lasst uns von hier weggehen!31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
