1 In jener NachtNacht floh dem König der Schlaf; und er befahl, das Gedächtnisbuch der Chroniken1 zu bringen; und sie wurden vor dem König gelesen. 1 On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.1
2 Da fand sich geschrieben, dass MordokaiMordokai über BigtanaBigtana und TereschTeresch, die beiden KämmererKämmerer des Königs, von denen, die die Schwelle hüteten, berichtet hatte, dass sie danach getrachtet hätten, Hand an den König AhasverosAhasveros zu legen. 2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.23
3 Und der König sprach: Welche Ehre und Auszeichnung ist dem MordokaiMordokai dafür erwiesen worden? Und die Diener2 des Königs, die ihn bedienten, sprachen: Es ist ihm nichts erwiesen worden.3 And the king said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.
4 Da sprach der König: Wer ist im Hof? Und HamanHaman war eben in den äußeren Hof des Königshauses gekommen, um dem König zu sagen, man möge MordokaiMordokai an den Baum hängen, den er für ihn bereitet hatte.4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king's house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
5 Und die DienerDiener des Königs sprachen zu ihm: Siehe, HamanHaman steht im Hof. Und der König sprach: Er komme herein!5 And the king's servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
6 Und HamanHaman kam herein. Und der König sprach zu ihm: Was ist dem MannMann zu tun, an dessen Ehre der König Gefallen hat? Da dachte HamanHaman in seinem Herzen: Wem sonst als mir sollte der König Gefallen haben Ehre zu erweisen? 6 So Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?4
7 Und HamanHaman sprach zu dem König: Der MannMann, an dessen Ehre der König Gefallen hat – 7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,5
8 man bringe ein königliches Kleid, womit der König sich bekleidet, und das PferdPferd, auf dem der König reitet und auf dessen KopfKopf die königliche KroneKrone gesetzt wird;8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:67
9 und man übergebe das Kleid und das PferdPferd den Händen eines der vornehmsten Fürsten des Königs; und man bekleide den MannMann, an dessen Ehre der König Gefallen hat, und man lasse ihn auf dem PferdPferd durch die Straßen der Stadt reiten und rufe vor ihm her: So wird dem MannMann getan, an dessen Ehre der König Gefallen hat! 9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.8
10 Da sprach der König zu HamanHaman: Eile, nimm das Kleid und das PferdPferd, wie du gesagt hast, und tu so mit MordokaiMordokai, dem Juden, der im TorTor des Königs sitzt; lass nichts ausfallen von allem, was du gesagt hast.10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king's gate: let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.9
11 Und HamanHaman nahm das Kleid und das PferdPferd, und er bekleidete MordokaiMordokai und ließ ihn durch die Straßen der Stadt reiten und rief vor ihm her: So wird dem MannMann getan, an dessen Ehre der König Gefallen hat! 11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
12 Und MordokaiMordokai kehrte zum TorTor des Königs zurück. HamanHaman aber eilte nach seinem HausHaus, traurig und mit verhülltem HauptHaupt. 12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
13 Und HamanHaman erzählte seiner FrauFrau SereschSeresch und allen seinen Freunden alles, was ihm begegnet war. Da sprachen seine Weisen und seine FrauFrau SereschSeresch zu ihm: Wenn MordokaiMordokai, vor dem du zu fallen angefangen hast, von den Nachkommen der Juden ist, so wirst du nichts gegen ihn vermögen, sondern du wirst gänzlich3 vor ihm fallen. 13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail against him, but shalt surely fall before him.
14 Während sie noch mit ihm redeten, kamen die KämmererKämmerer des Königs herbei und führten HamanHaman eilends zu dem Mahl, das EstherEsther bereitet hatte. 14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king's chamberlains, and hasted to bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.
