1 Jeder, der glaubt, dass JesusJesus der ChristusChristus ist, ist aus GottGott geboren; und jeder, der den liebt, der geboren hat, liebt auch den, der aus ihm geboren ist.1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 Hieran wissen1 wir, dass wir die KinderKinder GottesGottes lieben, wenn wir GottGott lieben und seine GeboteGebote halten. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 Denn dies ist die Liebe GottesGottes, dass wir seine GeboteGebote halten, und seine GeboteGebote sind nicht schwer.3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 Denn alles, was aus GottGott geboren ist, überwindet die WeltWelt; und dies ist der Sieg, der die WeltWelt überwunden hat: unser GlaubeGlaube.4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Wer ist es, der die WeltWelt überwindet, wenn nicht der, der glaubt, dass JesusJesus der SohnSohn GottesGottes ist?5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 Dieser ist es, der gekommen ist durch Wasser und BlutBlut, JesusJesus, [der] ChristusChristus; nicht durch das2 Wasser allein, sondern durch das3 Wasser und das BlutBlut. Und der GeistGeist ist es, der zeugt, weil der GeistGeist die WahrheitWahrheit ist. 6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 Denn drei sind es, die ZeugnisZeugnis ablegen:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 der GeistGeist und das Wasser und das BlutBlut, und die drei sind einstimmig4.8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9 Wenn wir das ZeugnisZeugnis der Menschen annehmen, das ZeugnisZeugnis GottesGottes ist größer; denn dies ist das ZeugnisZeugnis GottesGottes, das er gezeugtgezeugt hat über seinen SohnSohn.9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 Wer an den SohnSohn GottesGottes glaubt, hat das ZeugnisZeugnis in sich selbst; wer GottGott nicht glaubt, hat ihn zum Lügner gemacht, weil er nicht an das ZeugnisZeugnis geglaubt hat, das GottGott gezeugtgezeugt hat über seinen SohnSohn.10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 Und dies ist das ZeugnisZeugnis: dass GottGott uns ewiges LebenLeben gegeben hat, und dieses LebenLeben ist in seinem SohnSohn.11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 Wer den SohnSohn hat, hat das LebenLeben; wer den SohnSohn GottesGottes nicht hat, hat das LebenLeben nicht.12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 Dies habe ich euch geschrieben, damit ihr wisst, dass ihr ewiges LebenLeben habt, die ihr glaubt an den NamenNamen des SohnesSohnes GottesGottes.13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 Und dies ist die Zuversicht5, die wir zu ihm haben, dass, wenn wir etwas nach seinem Willen bitten, er uns hört.14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:1
15 Und wenn wir wissen, dass er uns hört, um was irgend wir bitten, so wissen wir, dass wir die Bitten haben, die wir von ihm erbeten haben.15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16 Wenn jemand seinen BruderBruder sündigen sieht, eine SündeSünde nicht zum TodTod, so wird er bitten, und er wird ihm das LebenLeben geben, denen, die nicht zum TodTod sündigen. Es gibt SündeSünde zum TodTod; nicht für diese sage ich, dass er bitten6 solle.16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 Jede Ungerechtigkeit ist SündeSünde; und es gibt SündeSünde, die nicht zum TodTod ist.17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 Wir wissen, dass jeder, der aus GottGott geboren ist, nicht sündigt; sondern der aus GottGott Geborene bewahrt sich, und der Böse tastet ihn nicht an.18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19 Wir wissen, dass wir aus GottGott sind, und die ganze WeltWelt liegt in dem Bösen7.19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20 Wir wissen aber, dass der SohnSohn GottesGottes gekommen ist und uns ein Verständnis gegeben hat, damit wir den Wahrhaftigen kennen; und wir sind in dem Wahrhaftigen, in seinem SohnSohn JesusJesus ChristusChristus. Dieser ist der wahrhaftige GottGott und [das] ewige LebenLeben.20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21 KinderKinder, hütet euch vor den Götzen!21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
