1 Meine KinderKinder, ich schreibe euch dieses, damit ihr nicht sündigt; und wenn jemand gesündigt hat1 – wir haben einen Sachwalter2 bei dem VaterVater, JesusJesus ChristusChristus, den Gerechten. 1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 Und er ist die SühnungSühnung für unsere Sünden, nicht allein aber für die unseren, sondern auch für die ganze WeltWelt.2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 Und hieran wissen3 wir, dass wir ihn kennen4, wenn wir seine GeboteGebote halten.3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 Wer da sagt: Ich kenne ihn, und hält seine GeboteGebote nicht, ist ein Lügner, und in diesem ist die WahrheitWahrheit nicht.4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 Wer aber sein WortWort hält, in diesem ist wahrhaftig die Liebe GottesGottes vollendet. Hieran wissen5 wir, dass wir in ihm sind. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 Wer da sagt, dass er in ihm bleibe, ist schuldig, selbst auch so zu wandeln, wie er gewandelt hat.6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Geliebte, nicht ein neues Gebot schreibe ich euch, sondern ein altes Gebot, das ihr von AnfangAnfang an hattet. Das alte Gebot ist das WortWort, das ihr gehört habt.7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Wiederum schreibe ich euch ein neues Gebot, das was wahr ist in ihm und in euch, weil die FinsternisFinsternis vergeht und das wahrhaftige LichtLicht schon leuchtet.8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 Wer da sagt, dass er in dem LichtLicht sei, und hasst seinen BruderBruder, ist in der FinsternisFinsternis bis jetzt.9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 Wer seinen BruderBruder liebt, bleibt in dem LichtLicht, und kein Ärgernis6 ist in ihm.10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.1
11 Wer aber seinen BruderBruder hasst, ist in der FinsternisFinsternis und wandelt in der FinsternisFinsternis und weiß nicht, wohin er geht, weil die FinsternisFinsternis seine AugenAugen verblendet hat.11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
12 Ich schreibe euch, KinderKinder, weil euch die Sünden vergebenvergeben sind um seines NamensNamens willen.12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
13 Ich schreibe euch, VäterVäter, weil ihr den erkannt habt, der von AnfangAnfang ist.Ich schreibe euch, Jünglinge, weil ihr den Bösen überwunden habt. 13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 Ich schreibe euch, KinderKinder, weil ihr den VaterVater erkannt habt. Ich habe euch, VäterVäter, geschrieben, weil ihr den erkannt habt, der von AnfangAnfang ist.Ich habe euch, Jünglinge, geschrieben, weil ihr stark seid und das WortWort GottesGottes in euch bleibt und ihr den Bösen überwunden habt. 14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 Liebt nicht die WeltWelt noch was in der WeltWelt ist. Wenn jemand die WeltWelt liebt, so ist die Liebe des VatersVaters nicht in ihm;15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 denn alles, was in der WeltWelt ist, die Lust des FleischesFleisches und die Lust der AugenAugen und der Hochmut des LebensLebens, ist nicht von7 dem VaterVater, sondern ist von8 der WeltWelt.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 Und die WeltWelt vergeht und ihre Lust; wer aber den Willen GottesGottes tut, bleibt in Ewigkeit.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
18 KinderKinder, es ist die letzte StundeStunde, und wie ihr gehört habt, dass der AntichristAntichrist kommt, so sind auch jetzt viele Antichristen geworden; daher wissen wir, dass es die letzte StundeStunde ist.18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 Sie sind von uns ausgegangen, aber sie waren nicht von uns; denn wenn sie von uns gewesen wären, so würden sie wohl bei uns geblieben sein; aber damit sie offenbar würden, dass sie alle nicht von uns sind.19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
20 Und ihr habt die SalbungSalbung von dem Heiligen und wisst alles.20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21 Ich habe euch nicht geschrieben, weil ihr die WahrheitWahrheit nicht wisst, sondern weil ihr sie wisst, und dass keine Lüge aus der WahrheitWahrheit ist.21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Wer ist der Lügner, wenn nicht der, der leugnet, dass JesusJesus der ChristusChristus ist? Dieser ist der AntichristAntichrist, der den VaterVater und den SohnSohn leugnet.22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Jeder, der den SohnSohn leugnet, hat auch den VaterVater nicht; wer den SohnSohn bekennt, hat auch den VaterVater.23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Ihr, was ihr von AnfangAnfang gehört habt, bleibe in euch. Wenn in euch bleibt, was ihr von AnfangAnfang gehört habt, so werdet auch ihr in dem SohnSohn und in dem VaterVater bleiben. 24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25 Und dies ist die Verheißung, die er uns verheißen hat: das ewige LebenLeben.25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 Dies habe ich euch in Bezug auf die geschrieben, die euch verführen. 26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 Und ihr, die SalbungSalbung, die ihr von ihm empfangen habt, bleibt in euch, und ihr bedürft nicht, dass euch jemand belehre, sondern wie dieselbe SalbungSalbung euch über alles belehrt und wahr ist und keine Lüge ist, und wie sie euch belehrt hat, so werdet ihr in ihm bleiben. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.2
28 Und nun, KinderKinder, bleibt in ihm, damit wir, wenn er offenbart werden wird, Freimütigkeit haben und nicht vor ihm9 beschämt werden bei seiner AnkunftAnkunft.28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 Wenn ihr wisst, dass er gerecht ist, so erkennt10, dass jeder, der die GerechtigkeitGerechtigkeit tut, aus ihm geboren ist. –29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.3
