1 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken away all that was our father's, and of what was our father's he has acquired all this glory.1 Und er hörte die WorteWorte der Söhne LabansLabans, welche sprachen: JakobJakob hat alles genommen, was unserem VaterVater gehörte; und von dem, was unserem VaterVater gehörte, hat er sich all diesen Reichtum verschafft.
2 And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and behold, it was not toward him as previously.2 Und JakobJakob sah das Angesicht LabansLabans, und siehe, es war nicht gegen ihn wie früher1.
3 And Jehovah said to Jacob, Return into the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.3 Und JehovaJehova sprach zu JakobJakob: Kehre zurück in das Land deiner VäterVäter und zu deiner Verwandtschaft, und ich will mit dir sein.
4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the fields to his flock,4 Da sandte JakobJakob hin und ließ RahelRahel und LeaLea aufs Feld rufen zu seiner HerdeHerde.
5 and said to them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as previously; but the God of my father has been with me.5 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ich sehe das Angesicht eures VatersVaters, daß es nicht gegen mich ist wie früher; aber der GottGott meines VatersVaters ist mit mir gewesen.
6 And you know that with all my power I have served your father.6 Ihr selbst wisset ja, daß ich mit all meiner KraftKraft eurem VaterVater gedient habe.
7 And your father has mocked me, and has changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.7 Und euer VaterVater hat mich betrogen und hat meinen LohnLohn zehnmal verändert; aber GottGott hat ihm nicht gestattet, mir Übles zu tun.
8 If he said thus; The speckled shall be thy hire, then all the flocks bore speckled; and if he said thus: The ringstraked shall be thy hire, then all the flocks bore ringstraked.8 Wenn er so sprach: Die gesprenkelten sollen dein LohnLohn sein, dann gebaren alle Herden gesprenkelte; und wenn er so sprach: Die gestreiften sollen dein LohnLohn sein, dann gebaren alle Herden gestreifte.
9 And God has taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.9 Und GottGott hat das ViehVieh eures VatersVaters genommen und mir gegeben.
10 And it came to pass at the time of the ardour of the flocks, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and behold, the rams that leaped upon the flocks were ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.10 Und es geschah zur Brunstzeit der HerdeHerde, da hob ich meine AugenAugen auf und sah im TraumeTraume: und siehe, die Böcke, welche die HerdeHerde besprangen, waren gestreift, gesprenkelt und getüpfelt.
11 And the Angel of God said to me in a dream, Jacob! And I said, Here am I.11 Und der Engel GottesEngel Gottes sprach im TraumeTraume zu mir: JakobJakob! Und ich sprach: Hier bin ich!
12 And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see: all the rams that leap upon the flock are ringstraked, speckled, and spotted; for I have seen all that Laban does to thee.12 Und er sprach: Hebe doch deine AugenAugen auf und sieh: alle Böcke, welche die HerdeHerde bespringen, sind gestreift, gesprenkelt und getüpfelt; denn ich habe alles gesehen, was LabanLaban dir tut.
13 I am the *God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, where thou vowedst a vow to me. Now arise, depart out of this land, and return to the land of thy kindred.13 Ich bin der GottGott von BethelBethel, wo du ein DenkmalDenkmal gesalbt, wo du mir ein GelübdeGelübde getan hast. Nun mache dich auf, ziehe aus diesem Lande und kehre zurück in das Land deiner Verwandtschaft2.
14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?14 Und RahelRahel und LeaLea antworteten und sprachen zu ihm: Haben wir noch ein Teil und ein ErbeErbe im HauseHause unseres VatersVaters?
15 Are we not reckoned of him strangers? for he has sold us, and has even constantly devoured our money.15 Sind wir nicht als Fremde von ihm geachtet worden? Denn er hat uns verkauft und hat auch unser GeldGeld völlig verzehrt.
16 For all the wealth that God has taken from our father is ours and our children's; and now whatever God has said to thee do.16 Denn aller Reichtum, den GottGott unserem VaterVater entrissen hat, uns gehört er und unseren KindernKindern. So tue nun alles, was GottGott zu dir geredet hat.
17 And Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels,17 Da machte JakobJakob sich auf und hob seine KinderKinder und seine Weiber auf die KameleKamele,
18 and carried away all his cattle, and all his property that he had acquired--the cattle of his possessions that he had acquired in Padan-Aram, to go to Isaac his father, into the land of Canaan.18 und führte weg all sein ViehVieh und all seine Habe, die er erworben, das ViehVieh seines Eigentums, das er erworben hatte in Paddan-AramPaddan-Aram, um zu seinem VaterVater IsaakIsaak zu kommen in das Land KanaanKanaan.
19 And Laban had gone to shear his sheep. And Rachel stole the teraphim that belonged to her father.19 Und LabanLaban war gegangen, um seine SchafeSchafe zu scheren; und RahelRahel stahl die Teraphim3, die ihr VaterVater hatte.
20 And Jacob deceived Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he fled.20 Und JakobJakob hinterging LabanLaban, den Aramäer, indem er ihm nicht kundtat, daß er fliehe.
21 And he fled with all that he had; and he rose up and passed over the river, and set his face toward mount Gilead.21 Und er floh, er und alles was er hatte; und er machte sich auf und setzte über den Strom4 und richtete sein Angesicht nach dem Gebirge GileadGebirge Gilead.
22 And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob had fled.22 Und am dritten TageTage wurde dem LabanLaban berichtet, daß JakobJakob geflohen wäre.
23 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey, and overtook him on mount Gilead.23 Und er nahm seine BrüderBrüder mit sich und jagte ihm sieben Tagereisen nach und ereilte ihn auf dem Gebirge GileadGebirge Gilead.
24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, Take care thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.24 Und GottGott kam zu LabanLaban, dem Aramäer, in einem TraumeTraume der NachtNacht und sprach zu ihm: Hüte dich, daß du mit JakobJakob weder Gutes noch Böses redest!
25 And Laban came up with Jacob; and Jacob had pitched his tent on the mountain; Laban also with his brethren pitched on mount Gilead.25 Und LabanLaban erreichte JakobJakob, und JakobJakob hatte sein ZeltZelt auf dem GebirgeGebirge aufgeschlagen; und LabanLaban schlug es auf mit seinen BrüdernBrüdern auf dem Gebirge GileadGebirge Gilead.
26 And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast deceived me, and hast carried away my daughters as captives of war?26 Und LabanLaban sprach zu JakobJakob: Was hast du getan, daß du mich hintergangen und meine Töchter wie Kriegsgefangene weggeführt hast?
27 Why didst thou flee away covertly, and steal away from me, and didst not tell me, that I might have conducted thee with mirth and with songs, with tambour and with harp;27 Warum bist du heimlich geflohen und hast mich hintergangen und hast es mir nicht kundgetan - ich hätte dich ja begleitet mit FreudeFreude und mit Gesängen, mit TamburinTamburin und mit LauteLaute -
28 and hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now thou hast acted foolishly.28 und hast mir nicht zugelassen, meine Söhne und meine Töchter zu küssen? Nun, du hast töricht gehandelt.
29 It would be in the power of my hand to do you hurt; but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, Take care that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.29 Es wäre in der MachtMacht meiner Hand, euch Übles zu tun; aber der GottGott eures VatersVaters hat gestern NachtNacht zu mir geredet und gesagt: Hüte dich, mit JakobJakob weder Gutes noch Böses zu reden!
30 And now that thou must needs be gone, because thou greatly longedst after thy father's house, why hast thou stolen my gods?30 Und nun, da du einmal weggegangen bist, weil du dich so sehr nach dem HauseHause deines VatersVaters sehntest, warum hast du meine GötterGötter gestohlen?
31 And Jacob answered and said to Laban, I was afraid; for I said, Lest thou shouldest take by force thy daughters from me.31 Da antwortete JakobJakob und sprach zu LabanLaban: Weil ich mich fürchtete; denn ich sagte mir, du möchtest mir etwa deine Töchter entreißen.
32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, he shall not live. Before our brethren discern what is thine with me, and take it to thee. But Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them.32 Bei wem du deine GötterGötter findest, der soll nicht leben. Erforsche vor unseren BrüdernBrüdern, was bei mir ist, und nimm es dir. JakobJakob aber wußte nicht, daß RahelRahel sie gestohlen hatte.
33 And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two handmaids' tents, and found nothing; and he went out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.33 Und LabanLaban ging in das ZeltZelt JakobsJakobs und in das ZeltZelt LeasLeas und in das ZeltZelt der beiden Mägde und fand nichts; und er ging aus dem ZelteZelte LeasLeas und kam in das ZeltZelt RahelsRahels.
34 Now Rachel had taken the teraphim and put them under the camel's saddle; and she sat upon them. And Laban explored all the tent, but found nothing.34 RahelRahel aber hatte die TeraphimTeraphim genommen und sie in den Kamelsattel gelegt und sich darauf gesetzt. Und LabanLaban durchtastete das ganze ZeltZelt und fand nichts.
35 And she said to her father, Let it not be an occasion of anger in the eyes of my lord that I cannot rise up before thee, for it is with me after the manner of women. And he searched carefully, but did not find the teraphim.35 Und sie sprach zu ihrem VaterVater: Mein HerrHerr möge nicht zürnen,5 daß ich nicht vor dir aufstehen kann; denn es ergeht mir nach der Weiber WeiseWeise. Und er durchsuchte alles und fand die TeraphimTeraphim nicht.
36 And Jacob was angry, and he disputed with Laban. And Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my fault, what my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?36 Da entbrannte JakobJakob und haderte mit LabanLaban. Und JakobJakob antwortete und sprach zu LabanLaban: Was ist mein Vergehen, was meine SündeSünde, daß du mir hitzig nachgesetzt bist?
37 Whereas thou hast explored all my baggage, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? Set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, and let them decide between us both.37 Da du all mein Gerät durchtastet hast, was hast du gefunden von allem Geräte deines Hauses? Lege es hierher vor meine BrüderBrüder und deine BrüderBrüder, und sie mögen zwischen uns beiden entscheiden!
38 These twenty years have I been with thee: thy ewes and thy she-goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock I have not eaten.38 Zwanzig JahreJahre bin ich nun bei dir gewesen; deine Mutterschafe und deine Ziegen haben nicht fehlgeboren, und die Widder deiner HerdeHerde habe ich nicht gegessen.
39 What was torn I have not brought to thee; I had to bear the loss of it: of my hand hast thou required it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.39 Das Zerrissene habe ich nicht zu dir gebracht, ich habe es büßen müssen; von meiner Hand hast du es gefordert, mochte es gestohlen sein bei TageTage oder gestohlen bei NachtNacht.
40 Thus it was with me: in the day the heat consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from mine eyes.40 Es war mit mir also: des TagesTages verzehrte mich die Hitze, und der Frost des NachtsNachts, und mein Schlaf floh von meinen AugenAugen.
41 I have been these twenty years in thy house: I have served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy flock; and thou hast changed my wages ten times.41 Zwanzig JahreJahre bin ich nun in deinem HauseHause gewesen; ich habe dir vierzehn JahreJahre gedient um deine beiden Töchter und sechs JahreJahre um deine HerdeHerde, und du hast meinen LohnLohn zehnmal verändert.
42 Had not the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, been with me, it is certain thou wouldest have sent me away now empty. God has looked upon my affliction and the labour of my hands, and has judged last night.42 Wenn nicht der GottGott meines VatersVaters, der GottGott AbrahamsAbrahams, und die Furcht6 IsaaksIsaaks, für mich gewesen wäre, gewiß, du würdest mich jetzt leer entlassen haben. GottGott hat mein Elend und die Arbeit meiner Hände angesehen und hat gestern NachtNacht entschieden.
43 And Laban answered and said to Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the sons are my sons, and the flock is my flock, and all that thou seest is mine; but as for my daughters, what can I do this day to them, or to their sons whom they have brought forth?43 Und LabanLaban antwortete und sprach zu JakobJakob: Die Töchter sind meine Töchter, und die Söhne sind meine Söhne, und die HerdeHerde ist meine HerdeHerde, und alles was du siehest ist mein; aber meinen Töchtern, was könnte ich ihnen heute tun, oder ihren Söhnen, die sie geboren haben?
44 And now, come, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be a witness between me and thee.44 Und nun komm, laß uns einen BundBund machen, ich und du, und er sei zum ZeugnisZeugnis zwischen mir und dir!
45 And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.45 Und JakobJakob nahm einen Stein und richtete ihn auf als DenkmalDenkmal.
46 And Jacob said to his brethren, Gather stones. And they took stones, and made a heap, and ate there upon the heap.46 Und JakobJakob sprach zu seinen BrüdernBrüdern: Sammelt SteineSteine! Und sie nahmen SteineSteine und errichteten einen Haufen und aßen daselbst auf dem Haufen.
47 And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed.47 Und LabanLaban nannte ihn Jegar Sahadutha7, und JakobJakob nannte ihn Galed8.
48 And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed,48 Und LabanLaban sprach: Dieser Haufe sei heute ein Zeuge zwischen mir und dir! Darum gab man ihm den NamenNamen GaledGaled,
49 --and Mizpah; for he said, Let Jehovah watch between me and thee, when we shall be hidden one from another:49 und Mizpa9, weil er sprach: JehovaJehova sei Wächter zwischen mir und dir, wenn wir einer vor dem anderen verborgen sein werden!
50 if thou shouldest afflict my daughters, or if thou shouldest take wives besides my daughters, --no man is with us; see, God is witness between me and thee!50 Wenn du meine Töchter bedrücken, und wenn du noch Weiber nehmen solltest zu meinen Töchtern ... kein MenschMensch ist bei uns; siehe, GottGott ist Zeuge zwischen mir und dir.
51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold the pillar which I have set up between me and thee:51 Und LabanLaban sprach zu JakobJakob: Siehe, dieser Haufe, und siehe, das DenkmalDenkmal, das ich errichtet habe zwischen mir und dir:
52 let this heap be witness, and the pillar a witness, that neither I pass this heap to go to thee, nor thou pass this heap and this pillar to come to me, for harm.52 dieser Haufe sei Zeuge, und das DenkmalDenkmal ein ZeugnisZeugnis, daß weder ich über diesen Haufen zu dir hinausgehe, noch daß du über diesen Haufen und dieses DenkmalDenkmal zu mir hinausgehest zum Bösen.
53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us! And Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.53 Der GottGott AbrahamsAbrahams und der GottGott NahorsNahors richte zwischen uns, der GottGott ihres VatersVaters! Da schwur JakobJakob bei der Furcht seines VatersVaters IsaakIsaak.
54 And Jacob offered a sacrifice upon the mountain, and invited his brethren to eat bread: and they ate bread, and lodged on the mountain.54 Und JakobJakob opferte ein SchlachtopferSchlachtopfer auf dem GebirgeGebirge und lud seine BrüderBrüder ein, zu essen; und sie aßen10 und übernachteten auf dem GebirgeGebirge.
55 And Laban rose early in the morning, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them; and Laban went and returned to his place.1 Und LabanLaban stand des MorgensMorgens früh auf und küßte seine Söhne und seine Töchter und segnete sie; und LabanLaban zog hin und kehrte zurück an seinen Ort.
