1 And the two angels came to Sodom at even. And Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. And Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them; and he bowed down, the face toward the ground,1 Und die beiden EngelEngel kamen am AbendAbend nach SodomSodom; und LotLot saß im ToreTore SodomsSodoms. Und als LotLot sie sah, stand er auf, ihnen entgegen, und beugte sich nieder, mit dem Angesicht zur ErdeErde;
2 and he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and lodge, and wash your feet; and ye shall rise up early, and go on your way. And they said, No; but we will pass the night in the open place.2 und er sprach: Ach siehe, meine Herren! kehret doch ein in das HausHaus eures KnechtesKnechtes und übernachtet und waschet eure Füße; und ihr machet euch früh auf und gehet eures Weges. Aber sie sprachen: Nein, sondern wir wollen auf dem Platze1 übernachten.
3 And he urged them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house. And he made them a repast, and baked unleavened cakes; and they ate.3 Und er drang sehr in sie; und sie kehrten bei ihm ein und kamen in sein HausHaus. Und er machte ihnen ein Mahl, und er backte ungesäuerte KuchenKuchen, und sie aßen.
4 Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, from the youngest to the oldest--all the people from every quarter.4 Noch hatten sie sich nicht niedergelegt, da umringten die Männer der Stadt, die Männer von SodomSodom, das HausHaus, vom Jüngling bis zum Greise, das ganze Volk insgesamt.
5 And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men that have come in to thee to-night? bring them out to us that we may know them.5 Und sie riefen LotLot und sprachen zu ihm: Wo sind die Männer, die diese NachtNacht zu dir gekommen sind? Führe sie zu uns heraus, daß wir sie erkennen!
6 And Lot went out to them to the entrance, and shut the door after him,6 Und LotLot trat zu ihnen hinaus an den Eingang und schloß die TürTür hinter sich zu;
7 and said, I pray you, my brethren, do not wickedly!7 und er sprach: Tut doch nicht übel, meine BrüderBrüder!
8 Behold now, I have two daughters who have not known a man: let me now bring them out to you; and do to them as is good in your sight: only, to these men do nothing; for therefore have they come under the shadow of my roof.8 Siehe doch, ich habe zwei Töchter, die keinen MannMann erkannt haben; laßt mich sie doch zu euch herausbringen, und tut ihnen, wie es gut ist in euren AugenAugen; allein diesen Männern tut nichts, da sie nun einmal2 unter den Schatten meines Daches gekommen sind.
9 And they said, Back there! And they said again , This one came to sojourn, and he must be a judge? Now we will deal worse with thee than with them. And they pressed hard on the man--on Lot; and drew near to break the door.9 Aber sie sprachen: Zurück da! Und sie sprachen: Der eine da ist gekommen, als FremdlingFremdling hier zu weilen, und will den RichterRichter machen? Nun, wir wollen dir ärger tun als jenen. Und sie drangen hart ein auf den MannMann, auf LotLot, und traten herzu, die TürTür zu erbrechen.
10 And the men stretched out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.10 Und die Männer streckten ihre Hand aus und brachten LotLot zu sich herein ins HausHaus und verschlossen die TürTür.
11 And they smote the men that were at the entrance of the house with blindness, from the smallest to the greatest; and they wearied themselves to find the entrance.11 Und die Männer, die am Eingang des Hauses waren, schlugen sie mit BlindheitBlindheit, vom kleinsten bis zum größten; und sie wurden müde, den Eingang zu finden.
12 And the men said to Lot, Whom hast thou here besides? a son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city--bring them out of the place.12 Und die Männer sprachen zu LotLot: Wen du noch hier hast, einen Eidam und deine Söhne und deine Töchter und wen irgend du in der Stadt hast, führe hinaus aus diesem Orte!
13 For we are going to destroy this place, because the cry of them is great before Jehovah, and Jehovah has sent us to destroy it.13 Denn wir wollen diesen Ort verderben, weil ihr3 Geschrei groß geworden ist vor JehovaJehova; und JehovaJehova hat uns gesandt, die Stadt4 zu verderben.
14 And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, Up, go out of this place, for Jehovah will destroy the city. But he was as if he jested, in the sight of his sons-in-law.14 Und LotLot ging hinaus und redete zu seinen Eidamen, die seine Töchter genommen hatten, und sprach: Machet euch auf, gehet aus diesem Orte; denn JehovaJehova will die Stadt verderben. Aber er war in den AugenAugen seiner Eidame wie einer, der Scherz treibt.
15 And as the dawn arose, the angels urged Lot, saying, Up, take thy wife and thy two daughters who are present, lest thou perish in the iniquity of the city.15 Und sowie die MorgenröteMorgenröte aufging, da drangen die EngelEngel in LotLot und sprachen: Mache dich auf, nimm dein Weib und deine zwei Töchter, die vorhanden sind, damit du nicht weggerafft werdest in der Ungerechtigkeit5 der Stadt!
16 And as he lingered, the men laid hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, Jehovah being merciful to him; and they led him out, and set him without the city.16 Und als er zögerte, ergriffen die Männer seine Hand und die Hand seines Weibes und die Hand seiner zwei Töchter, weil JehovaJehova sich seiner erbarmte6, und führten ihn hinaus und ließen ihn außerhalb der Stadt.
17 And it came to pass when they had brought them outside, that he said, Escape for thy life: look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain: escape to the mountain, lest thou perish.17 Und es geschah, als sie sie hinausgeführt hatten ins Freie, da sprach er: Rette dich um deines LebensLebens willen; sieh nicht hinter dich, und bleibe nicht stehen in der ganzen Ebene7; rette dich auf das GebirgeGebirge, damit du nicht weggerafft werdest!
18 And Lot said to them, Not so , I pray thee, Lord;18 Und LotLot sprach zu ihnen: Nicht doch, HerrHerr!
19 behold now, thy servant has found favour in thine eyes, and thou hast magnified thy goodness, which thou hast shewn to me in preserving my soul alive; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest calamity lay hold on me, that I die.19 Siehe doch, dein KnechtKnecht hat GnadeGnade gefunden in deinen AugenAugen, und du hast deine Güte groß gemacht, die du an mir erwiesen hast, meine SeeleSeele am LebenLeben zu erhalten; aber ich kann mich nicht auf das GebirgeGebirge retten, es möchte mich das Unglück erhaschen, daß ich stürbe.
20 Behold now, this city is near to flee to, and it is small: I pray thee, let me escape thither--is it not small? --and my soul shall live.20 Siehe doch, diese Stadt ist nahe, um dahin zu fliehen, und sie ist klein; laß mich doch dahin mich retten, (ist sie nicht klein?) damit meine SeeleSeele am LebenLeben bleibe.
21 And he said to him, Behold, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which thou hast spoken.21 Und er sprach zu ihm: Siehe, auch in diesem Stücke habe ich dich angesehen, daß ich die Stadt nicht umkehre, von der du geredet hast.
22 Haste, escape thither; for I cannot do anything until thou art come there. Therefore the name of the city is called Zoar.22 Eile, rette dich dorthin; denn ich kann nichts tun, bis du dorthin gekommen bist. Daher hat man der Stadt den NamenNamen Zoar8 gegeben.
23 The sun rose upon the earth when Lot came to Zoar.23 Die SonneSonne ging auf über der ErdeErde, als LotLot in ZoarZoar ankam.
24 And Jehovah rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven,24 Und JehovaJehova ließ auf SodomSodom und auf GomorraGomorra SchwefelSchwefel und FeuerFeuer regnen von JehovaJehova aus dem HimmelHimmel;
25 and overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew upon the ground.25 und er kehrte diese Städte um und die ganze EbeneEbene und alle Bewohner der Städte und das Gewächs des Erdbodens.
26 And his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.26 Und sein Weib sah sich hinter ihm um und ward zu einer Salzsäule.
27 And Abraham rose early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before Jehovah;27 Und AbrahamAbraham machte sich des MorgensMorgens früh auf an den Ort, wo er vor JehovaJehova gestanden hatte;
28 and he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and lo, a smoke went up from the land as the smoke of a furnace.28 und er blickte hin nach SodomSodom und GomorraGomorra und nach dem ganzen Lande der EbeneEbene; und er sah: und siehe, ein Rauch stieg auf von der Erde9, wie der Rauch eines SchmelzofensSchmelzofens.
29 And it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.29 Und es geschah, als GottGott die Städte der EbeneEbene verderbte, da gedachte GottGott des AbrahamAbraham und entsandte LotLot mitten aus der Umkehrung, als er die Städte umkehrte, in welchen LotLot gewohnt hatte.
30 And Lot went up from Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar. And he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.30 Und LotLot zog hinauf von ZoarZoar und wohnte im GebirgeGebirge, und seine beiden Töchter mit ihm; denn er fürchtete sich, in ZoarZoar zu wohnen. Und er wohnte in einer Höhle, er und seine beiden Töchter.
31 And the first-born said to the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the land to come in to us after the manner of all the earth:31 Und die Erstgeborene sprach zu der Jüngeren: Unser VaterVater ist alt, und kein MannMann ist im Lande, um zu uns einzugehen nach der WeiseWeise aller WeltWelt.
32 come, let us give our father wine to drink, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.32 Komm, laß uns unserem VaterVater WeinWein zu trinken geben und bei ihm liegen, damit wir von unserem VaterVater Samen am LebenLeben erhalten10.
33 And they gave their father wine to drink that night. And the first-born went in, and lay with her father, and he did not know of her lying down, nor of her rising.33 Und sie gaben ihrem VaterVater WeinWein zu trinken in selbiger NachtNacht, und die Erstgeborene ging hinein und lag bei ihrem VaterVater; und er wußte weder um ihr Niederlegen noch um ihr Aufstehen.
34 And it came to pass on the next day that the first-born said to the younger, Lo, I lay last night with my father: let us give him wine to drink to-night also, and go thou in, lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.34 Und es geschah am MorgenMorgen, da sprach die Erstgeborene zu der Jüngeren: Siehe, ich habe gestern NachtNacht bei meinem VaterVater gelegen; laß uns ihm auch diese NachtNacht WeinWein zu trinken geben, und gehe hinein, liege bei ihm, damit wir von unserem VaterVater Samen am LebenLeben erhalten11.
35 And they gave their father wine to drink that night also. And the younger arose, and lay with him; and he did not know of her lying down, nor of her rising.35 Und sie gaben auch in selbiger NachtNacht ihrem VaterVater WeinWein zu trinken, und die JüngereJüngere stand auf und lag bei ihm; und er wußte weder um ihr Niederlegen noch um ihr Aufstehen.
36 And both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father.36 Und die beiden Töchter LotsLots wurden schwanger von ihrem VaterVater.
37 And the first-born bore a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites to this day.37 Und die Erstgeborene gebar einen SohnSohn, und sie gab ihm den NamenNamen Moab12; dieser ist der VaterVater der Moabiter13 bis auf diesen TagTag.
38 And the younger, she also bore a son, and called his name Ben-ammi; the same is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.38 Und die JüngereJüngere, auch sie gebar einen SohnSohn, und sie gab ihm den NamenNamen BenBen Ammi14; dieser ist der VaterVater der Kinder AmmonKinder Ammon bis auf diesen TagTag.
