1 And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.1 Und1 der ZornZorn JehovasJehovas entbrannte abermals wider IsraelIsrael; und er reizte DavidDavid wider sie, indem er sprach: Gehe hin, zähle IsraelIsrael und JudaJuda!
2 And the king said to Joab the captain of the host, who was with him, Go, I pray thee, through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and count the people, that I may know the number of the people.2 Da sprach der König zu JoabJoab, dem Heerobersten, der bei ihm war: Gehe doch umher durch alle StämmeStämme IsraelsIsraels, von DanDan bis BeersebaBeerseba, und mustert das Volk, damit ich die Zahl des Volkes wisse.
3 And Joab said to the king, May Jehovah thy God even add to the people, how many soever they be, a hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it ; but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?3 Und JoabJoab sprach zu dem König: Es möge JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, zu dem Volke, so viele ihrer auch sind, hundertmal hinzufügen, während die AugenAugen meines HerrnHerrn, des Königs, es sehen! Aber warum hat mein HerrHerr, der König, Gefallen an dieser Sache?
4 But the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the army. And Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king to count the people of Israel.4 Aber das WortWort des Königs blieb fest gegen JoabJoab und gegen die Obersten des Heeres. Und JoabJoab und die Obersten des Heeres zogen aus vor dem König, um das Volk IsraelIsrael zu mustern.
5 And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the midst of the ravine of Gad, and toward Jaazer.5 Und sie gingen über den JordanJordan und lagerten sich zu AroerAroer, rechts von der Stadt, die mitten im Flußtale von GadGad liegt, und nach JaserJaser hin.
6 And they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and came to Dan-jaan, and to the environs of Sidon;6 Und sie kamen nach GileadGilead und in das Land Tachtim-HodschiTachtim-Hodschi; und sie kamen nach Dan-JaanDan-Jaan und in die Umgegend von ZidonZidon;
7 and they came to the fortified city of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites and of the Canaanites; and went out to the south of Judah, to Beer-sheba.7 Und sie kamen zu der festen Stadt Zor2 und zu allen Städten der HewiterHewiter und der KanaaniterKanaaniter; und sie zogen hinaus in den SüdenSüden von JudaJuda nach BeersebaBeerseba.
8 And they went through all the land, and came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.8 Und sie zogen umher durch das ganze Land, und kamen am Ende von neun Monaten und zwanzig Tagen nach JerusalemJerusalem zurück.
9 And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to the king; and there were of Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.9 Und JoabJoab gab die Zahl des gemusterten Volkes dem König an; und es waren in IsraelIsrael achthunderttausend Kriegsmänner, die das SchwertSchwert zogen, und der Männer von JudaJuda fünfhunderttausend MannMann.
10 And David's heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said to Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in what I have done; and now, I beseech thee, Jehovah, put away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.10 Aber dem DavidDavid schlug sein HerzHerz3, nachdem er das Volk gezählt hatte; und DavidDavid sprach zu JehovaJehova: Ich habe sehr gesündigt in dem was ich getan habe; und nun, JehovaJehova, laß doch die Ungerechtigkeit deines KnechtesKnechtes vorübergehen, denn ich habe sehr töricht gehandelt!
11 And when David arose in the morning, the word of Jehovah came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,11 Und als DavidDavid am MorgenMorgen aufstand, da geschah das WortWort JehovasJehovas zu GadGad, dem ProphetenPropheten, dem SeherSeher DavidsDavids, indem er sprach:
12 Go and say to David, Thus saith Jehovah: I impose on thee three things ; choose one of them that I may do it unto thee.12 Gehe hin und rede zu DavidDavid: So spricht JehovaJehova: Dreierlei lege ich dir vor4; wähle dir eines davon, daß ich es dir tue.
13 And Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, Shall seven years of famine come to thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine adversaries while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days' pestilence in thy land? Now be aware and consider what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.13 Und GadGad kam zu DavidDavid und tat es ihm kund und sprach zu ihm: Sollen dir sieben JahreJahre HungersnotHungersnot in dein Land kommen? oder willst du drei MonateMonate vor deinen Feinden fliehen, indem sie dir nachjagen? oder soll drei TageTage PestPest in deinem Lande sein? Nun wisse und sieh, was für eine Antwort ich dem zurückbringen soll, der mich gesandt hat.
14 And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are great; but let me not fall into the hand of man.14 Und DavidDavid sprach zu GadGad: Mir ist sehr angst! Mögen wir doch in die Hand JehovasJehovas fallen, denn seine Erbarmungen sind groß; aber in die Hand der Menschen laß mich nicht fallen!
15 And Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the set time; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.15 Da sandte JehovaJehova eine PestPest unter IsraelIsrael, vom MorgenMorgen an bis zur bestimmten ZeitZeit; und es starben von dem Volke, von DanDan bis BeersebaBeerseba, siebenzigtausend MannMann.
16 And the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it; but Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed among the people, It is enough: withdraw now thine hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.16 Und als der EngelEngel seine Hand gegen JerusalemJerusalem ausstreckte, um es zu verderben, da reute JehovaJehova des Übels, und er sprach zu dem EngelEngel, der unter dem Volke verderbte: Genug! ziehe jetzt deine Hand ab. Der EngelEngel JehovasJehovas war aber bei der Tenne ArawnasArawnas, des JebusitersJebusiters.
17 And David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote among the people, and said, Behold, it is I that have sinned, and it is I that have committed iniquity; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be on me, and on my father's house!17 Und als DavidDavid den EngelEngel sah, der unter dem Volke schlug, sprach er zu JehovaJehova und sagte: Siehe, ich habe gesündigt, und ich habe verkehrt gehandelt; aber diese Schafe5, was haben sie getan? Es sei doch deine Hand wider mich, und wider das HausHaus meines VatersVaters!
18 And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.18 Und GadGad kam zu DavidDavid an selbigem TageTage und sprach zu ihm: Gehe hinauf, errichte JehovaJehova einen AltarAltar auf der Tenne ArawnasArawnas, des JebusitersJebusiters.
19 And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as Jehovah had commanded.19 Und DavidDavid ging hinauf, nach dem WorteWorte GadsGads, so wie JehovaJehova geboten hatte.
20 And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on towards him; and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.20 Und ArawnaArawna blickte hin und sah den König und seine KnechteKnechte zu sich herüberkommen; da ging ArawnaArawna hinaus und beugte sich vor dem König nieder, mit seinem Antlitz zur ErdeErde.
21 And Araunah said, Why is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar to Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.21 Und ArawnaArawna sprach: Warum kommt mein HerrHerr, der König, zu seinem KnechteKnechte? Und DavidDavid sprach: Die Tenne von dir zu kaufen, um JehovaJehova einen AltarAltar zu bauen, damit die Plage von dem Volke abgewehrt werde.
22 And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up that which is good in his sight: see, here are oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing-sledges and implements of the oxen for wood.22 Da sprach ArawnaArawna zu DavidDavid: Mein HerrHerr, der König, nehme und opfere was gut ist in seinen AugenAugen; siehe, die RinderRinder sind zum BrandopferBrandopfer, und die Dreschwagen und die Geschirre der RinderRinder zum HolzHolz:
23 All these things, O king, doth Araunah give to the king. And Araunah said to the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.23 alles das, o König, gibt ArawnaArawna dem König. Und ArawnaArawna sprach zu dem König: JehovaJehova, dein GottGott, nehme dich wohlgefällig an!
24 And the king said to Araunah, No; but I will in any case buy them of thee at a price: neither will I offer up to Jehovah my God burnt-offerings without cost. And David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.24 Aber der König sprach zu ArawnaArawna: Nein, sondern kaufen will ich es von dir um einen PreisPreis, und ich will JehovaJehova, meinem GottGott, nicht umsonst BrandopferBrandopfer opfern. Und DavidDavid kaufte die Tenne und die RinderRinder um fünfzig SekelSekel SilberSilber.
25 And David built there an altar to Jehovah, and offered up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. And Jehovah was propitious to the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.25 Und DavidDavid baute daselbst JehovaJehova einen AltarAltar, und opferte BrandopferBrandopfer und FriedensopferFriedensopfer. Und JehovaJehova ließ sich für das Land erbitten, und die Plage wurde von IsraelIsrael abgewehrt.
