1 And David fled from Naioth by Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity, and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeks my life?1 Und DavidDavid floh von NajothNajoth zu RamaRama; und er kam und sprach vor JonathanJonathan: Was habe ich getan? Was ist meine Ungerechtigkeit, und was meine SündeSünde vor deinem VaterVater, daß er nach meinem LebenLeben trachtet?
2 And he said to him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, and not apprise me; and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.2 Und er sprach zu ihm: Das sei ferneDas sei ferne! du wirst nicht sterben. Siehe, mein VaterVater tut weder eine große noch eine kleine Sache, ohne daß er sie meinem OhrOhr eröffnete; und warum sollte mein VaterVater diese Sache vor mir verbergen? Es ist nicht so.
3 And David swore again and again, and said, Thy father certainly knows that I have found favour in thy sight: and he has thought, Jonathan shall not know this, lest he be grieved; but truly as Jehovah liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.3 Und DavidDavid fuhr fort und schwur und sprach: Dein VaterVater weiß wohl, daß ich GnadeGnade gefunden habe in deinen AugenAugen, und er hat gedacht: JonathanJonathan soll dieses nicht wissen, damit er sich nicht betrübe. Aber doch, so wahr JehovaJehova lebt und deine SeeleSeele lebt, nur ein Schritt ist zwischen mir und dem TodeTode!
4 And Jonathan said to David, What thy soul may say, I will even do it for thee.4 Und JonathanJonathan sprach zu DavidDavid: Was deine SeeleSeele spricht, das will ich für dich tun.
5 And David said to Jonathan, Behold, to-morrow is new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat; but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field until the third evening.5 Und DavidDavid sprach zu JonathanJonathan: Siehe, morgen ist NeumondNeumond, da ich eigentlich mit dem König beim Essen sitzen sollte; so laß mich gehen, und ich will mich auf dem Felde verbergen bis zum dritten AbendAbend.
6 If thy father should actually miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city; for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.6 Wenn dein VaterVater mich etwa vermissen sollte, so sage: DavidDavid hat sich's dringend von mir erbeten, nach BethlehemBethlehem, seiner Stadt, zu laufen; denn daselbst ist das Jahresopfer für die ganze Familie.
7 If he say thus, It is well, --thy servant shall have peace; but if he be very wroth, be sure that evil is determined by him.7 Wenn er so spricht: Es ist gut, so steht es wohl um deinen KnechtKnecht; ergrimmt er aber, so wisse, daß das Böse seinerseits beschlossen ist.
8 Deal kindly then with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of Jehovah with thee; but if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?8 Erweise denn Güte an deinem KnechteKnechte, denn du hast deinen KnechtKnecht in einen BundBund JehovasJehovas mit dir treten lassen! Wenn aber eine Ungerechtigkeit an mir ist, so töte du mich; denn warum wolltest du mich doch zu deinem VaterVater bringen?
9 And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee; for, if I knew with certainty that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, would I not tell it thee?9 Und JonathanJonathan sprach: Das sei ferneDas sei ferne von dir! denn wenn ich sicher weiß, daß es von seiten meines VatersVaters beschlossen ist, daß das Böse über dich komme, sollte ich es dir dann nicht berichten?
10 Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?10 Und DavidDavid sprach zu JonathanJonathan: Wer soll es mir berichten, wenn etwa dein VaterVater dir Hartes antwortet?
11 And Jonathan said to David, Come and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.11 Und JonathanJonathan sprach zu DavidDavid: Komm und laß uns aufs Feld hinausgehen. Und sie gingen beide hinaus aufs Feld.
12 And Jonathan said to David, Jehovah, God of Israel, when I sound my father about this time to-morrow, or the next day, and behold, there be good toward David, and I then send not to thee, and apprise thee of it,12 Und JonathanJonathan sprach zu DavidDavid: JehovaJehova, GottGott IsraelsIsraels! Wenn ich meinen VaterVater um diese ZeitZeit morgen oder übermorgen ausforsche, und siehe, es steht gut für DavidDavid, und ich nicht alsdann zu dir sende und es deinem OhrOhr eröffne,
13 Jehovah do so and much more to Jonathan. Should it please my father to do thee evil, then I will apprise thee of it, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace; and Jehovah be with thee, as he has been with my father.13 so tue JehovaJehova dem JonathanJonathan, und so füge er hinzu! Wenn meinem VaterVater Böses wider dich gefällt, so werde ich es deinem OhrOhr eröffnen und dich ziehen lassen, daß du in Frieden weggehest; und JehovaJehova sei mit dir, so wie er mit meinem VaterVater gewesen ist.
14 And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of Jehovah, that I die not,14 Und nicht nur während ich noch lebe, und nicht nur an mir sollst du Güte JehovasJehovas erweisen, daß ich nicht sterbe;
15 but thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever, no, not when Jehovah cuts off the enemies of David, every one from the face of the earth.15 auch meinem HauseHause sollst du deine Güte nicht entziehen ewiglich, auch nicht wenn JehovaJehova die Feinde DavidsDavids ausrotten wird, einen jeden vom Erdboden hinweg!
16 And Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let Jehovah even require it at the hand of David's enemies!16 Und JonathanJonathan machte einen BundBund mit dem HauseHause DavidsDavids und sprach: So fordere es JehovaJehova von der Hand der Feinde DavidsDavids!
17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, by the love he had for him, for he loved him as he loved his own soul.17 Und JonathanJonathan ließ DavidDavid nochmals bei seiner Liebe zu ihm schwören; denn er liebte ihn, wie er seine SeeleSeele liebte.
18 And Jonathan said to him, To-morrow is the new moon; and thou wilt be missed, for thy seat will be empty;18 Und JonathanJonathan sprach zu ihm: MorgenMorgen ist NeumondNeumond; und man wird dich vermissen, denn dein Sitz wird leer bleiben.
19 but on the third day thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself on the day of the business, and abide by the stone Ezel.19 Am dritten TageTage aber steige eilends herab und komm an den Ort, wo du dich verborgen hattest am TageTage der Tat1, und bleibe2 neben dem SteineSteine AselAsel.
20 And I will shoot three arrows on the side of it, as though I shot at a mark.20 Ich nun, ich werde drei PfeilePfeile zu seiner Seite abschießen, als schösse ich für mich nach einem Ziele.
21 And behold, I will send the lad, saying, Go, find the arrows. If I expressly say to the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come, for there is peace for thee, and it is nothing; as Jehovah liveth.21 Und siehe, ich werde den Knaben senden: Gehe hin, suche die PfeilePfeile! Wenn ich ausdrücklich zu dem Knaben spreche: Siehe, die PfeilePfeile sind von dir ab herwärts, nimm sie! so komm; denn es steht wohl um dich, und es ist nichts, so wahr JehovaJehova lebt!
22 But if I say thus to the youth: Behold, the arrows are beyond thee, --go thy way; for Jehovah sends thee away.22 Wenn ich aber also zu dem Jüngling spreche: Siehe, die PfeilePfeile sind von dir ab hinwärts! so gehe, denn JehovaJehova sendet dich weg.
23 And as to the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, Jehovah is between me and thee for ever.23 Was aber die Sache betrifft, die wir besprochen haben, ich und du, siehe, JehovaJehova ist zwischen mir und dir auf ewig.
24 And David hid himself in the field; and it was the new moon, and the king sat at table to eat.24 Und DavidDavid verbarg sich auf dem Felde. Und es wurde NeumondNeumond, und der König setzte sich zum Mahle, um zu essen.
25 And the king sat on his seat, as at other times, on the seat by the wall; and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was empty.25 Und der König setzte sich auf seinen Sitz, wie die anderen Male, auf den Sitz an der Wand; und JonathanJonathan stand auf, und AbnerAbner setzte sich zur Seite SaulsSauls; und der Platz DavidsDavids blieb leer.
26 And Saul said nothing that day; for he thought, Something has befallen him , that he is not clean: surely he is not clean.26 SaulSaul aber sagte nichts an selbigem TageTage, denn er dachte: Es ist ihm etwas widerfahren3; er ist nicht rein, gewiß, er ist nicht rein.
27 And it came to pass the next day after the new moon, the second day of the month , as David's place was empty, that Saul said to Jonathan his son, Why has not the son of Jesse come to table, neither yesterday nor to-day?27 Und es geschah am anderen TageTage des NeumondesNeumondes, dem zweiten, als der Platz DavidsDavids leer blieb, da sprach SaulSaul zu seinem SohneSohne JonathanJonathan: Warum ist der SohnSohn IsaisIsais weder gestern noch heute zum Mahle gekommen?
28 And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem,28 Und JonathanJonathan antwortete SaulSaul: DavidDavid hat sich's dringend von mir erbeten, nach BethlehemBethlehem zu gehen, und er sprach:
29 and said, Let me go, I pray thee; for we have a family sacrifice in the city; and my brother himself has commanded me to be there ; and now, if I have found favour in thy sight, let me go away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. He has therefore not come to the king's table.29 Laß mich doch gehen, denn wir haben ein Familienopfer in der Stadt; und mein BruderBruder selbst hat mich entboten; und nun, wenn ich GnadeGnade gefunden habe in deinen AugenAugen, so laß mich doch gehen4, daß ich meine BrüderBrüder sehe. Darum ist er nicht an den Tisch des Königs gekommen.
30 And Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, Son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own shame and to the shame of thy mother's nakedness?30 Da entbrannte der ZornZorn SaulsSauls wider JonathanJonathan, und er sprach zu ihm: SohnSohn einer widerspenstigen Verkehrten! weiß ich nicht, daß du den SohnSohn IsaisIsais auserkoren hast zu deiner Schande und zur Schande der Blöße deiner MutterMutter?
31 For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon earth, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. And now send and fetch him to me, for he must die.31 Denn alle die TageTage, die der SohnSohn IsaisIsais auf Erden lebt, wirst du nicht feststehen, weder du noch dein Königtum; und nun sende hin und laß ihn zu mir holen, denn er ist ein Kind des TodesTodes!
32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, Why should he be put to death? what has he done?32 Und JonathanJonathan antwortete seinem VaterVater SaulSaul und sprach zu ihm: Warum soll er getötet werden? was hat er getan?
33 Then Saul cast the spear at him to smite him; and Jonathan knew that it was determined by his father to put David to death.33 Da warf5 SaulSaul den SpeerSpeer nach ihm, um ihn zu treffen; und JonathanJonathan erkannte, daß es von seiten seines VatersVaters beschlossen sei, DavidDavid zu töten.
34 And Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and ate no meat the second day of the new moon; for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.34 Und JonathanJonathan stand vom Tische auf in glühendem ZornZorn, und er aß am zweiten TageTage des NeumondesNeumondes keine Speise; denn er war betrübt um DavidDavid, weil sein VaterVater ihn geschmäht hatte.
35 And it came to pass in the morning that Jonathan went out into the field, to the place agreed on with David, and a little lad with him.35 Und es geschah am MorgenMorgen, da ging JonathanJonathan aufs Feld hinaus, an den Ort, den er mit DavidDavid verabredet hatte, und ein kleiner Knabe war mit ihm.
36 And he said to his lad, Run, find now the arrows which I shoot. The lad ran, and he shot the arrow beyond him.36 Und er sprach zu seinem Knaben: LaufeLaufe, suche doch die PfeilePfeile, die ich abschieße! Der Knabe lief, und er schoß den PfeilPfeil über ihn hinaus.
37 And when the lad came to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad and said, Is not the arrow away beyond thee?37 Und als der Knabe an den Ort des PfeilesPfeiles kam, welchen JonathanJonathan abgeschossen hatte, da rief JonathanJonathan dem Knaben nach und sprach: Der PfeilPfeil ist ja von dir ab hinwärts!
38 And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not! And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.38 Und JonathanJonathan rief dem Knaben nach: Schnell, eile, stehe nicht still! Und der Knabe JonathansJonathans las den PfeilPfeil auf und kam zu seinem HerrnHerrn.
39 And the lad knew nothing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.39 Der Knabe aber wußte um nichts; nur JonathanJonathan und DavidDavid wußten um die Sache.
40 And Jonathan gave his weapons to his lad, and said to him, Go, carry them to the city.40 Und JonathanJonathan gab seine WaffenWaffen seinem Knaben und sprach zu ihm: Gehe, bringe sie in die Stadt.
41 The lad went, and David arose from the side of the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times; and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.41 Der Knabe ging, und DavidDavid machte sich auf von der Südseite her und fiel auf sein Antlitz zur ErdeErde und beugte sich dreimal nieder; und sie küßten einander und weinten miteinander, bis DavidDavid über die Maßen weinte.
42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have both of us sworn in the name of Jehovah, saying, Jehovah be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever! And he arose and departed; and Jonathan went into the city.42 Und JonathanJonathan sprach zu DavidDavid: Gehe hin in Frieden! Es sei, wie wir beide im NamenNamen JehovasJehovas geschworen haben, als wir sagten: JehovaJehova sei zwischen mir und dir und zwischen meinem Samen und deinem Samen auf ewig! -
