1 And the chief7218 fathers1 of the families4940 of the children1121 of Gilead1568, the son1121 of Machir4353, the son1121 of Manasseh4519, of the families4940 of the sons1121 of Joseph3130, came near7126, and spake1696 before6440 Moses4872, and before6440 the princes5387, the chief7218 fathers1 of the children1121 of Israel3478: 2 And they said559, The LORD3068 commanded6680 my lord113 to give5414 the land776 for an inheritance5159 by lot1486 to the children1121 of Israel3478: and my lord113 was commanded6680 by the LORD3068 to give5414 the inheritance5159 of Zelophehad6765 our brother251 unto his daughters1323. 3 And if they be married802 to any259 of the sons1121 of the other tribes7626 of the children1121 of Israel3478, then shall their inheritance5159 be taken1639 from the inheritance5159 of our fathers1, and shall be put3254 to the inheritance5159 of the tribe4294 whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken1639 from the lot1486 of our inheritance5159.¹ 4 And when the jubile3104 of the children1121 of Israel3478 shall be, then shall their inheritance5159 be put3254 unto the inheritance5159 of the tribe4294 whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance5159 be taken away1639 from the inheritance5159 of the tribe4294 of our fathers1.

5 And Moses4872 commanded6680 the children1121 of Israel3478 according to the word6310 of the LORD3068, saying559, The tribe4294 of the sons1121 of Joseph3130 hath said1696 well. 6 This is the thing1697 which the LORD3068 doth command6680 concerning the daughters1323 of Zelophehad6765, saying559, Let them marry802 to whom they think5869 best2896; only to the family4940 of the tribe4294 of their father1 shall they marry802.² 7 So shall not the inheritance5159 of the children1121 of Israel3478 remove5437 from tribe4294 to tribe4294: for every one376 of the children1121 of Israel3478 shall keep1692 himself to the inheritance5159 of the tribe4294 of his fathers1.³ 8 And every daughter1323, that possesseth3423 an inheritance5159 in any tribe4294 of the children1121 of Israel3478, shall be wife802 unto one259 of the family4940 of the tribe4294 of her father1, that the children1121 of Israel3478 may enjoy3423 every man376 the inheritance5159 of his fathers1. 9 Neither shall the inheritance5159 remove5437 from one tribe4294 to another312 tribe4294; but every one376 of the tribes4294 of the children1121 of Israel3478 shall keep1692 himself to his own inheritance5159. 10 Even as the LORD3068 commanded6680 Moses4872, so did6213 the daughters1323 of Zelophehad6765: 11 For Mahlah4244, Tirzah8656, and Hoglah2295, and Milcah4435, and Noah5270, the daughters1323 of Zelophehad6765, were married802 unto their father's1730 brothers' sons1121: 12 And they were married802 into the families4940 of the sons1121 of Manasseh4519 the son1121 of Joseph3130, and their inheritance5159 remained in the tribe4294 of the family4940 of their father1.⁴ 13 These are the commandments4687 and the judgments4941, which the LORD3068 commanded6680 by the hand3027 of Moses4872 unto the children1121 of Israel3478 in the plains6160 of Moab4124 by Jordan3383 near Jericho3405.
